CBO: 24 million more uninsured under GOP bill over a decade

So much for the promises that no one would be hurt by the demise of Obamacare. And many of those 24 million will be the folk who voted for Trump. As I have said often, Trump is going to hurt his supporters badly and they are not savvy enough to realize they did it to themselves.

The Congressional Budget Office on Monday projected that the number of uninsured people would grow by 14 million in 2018 under the Republican ObamaCare replacement bill, with that number rising to 24 million by 2026.

The long-awaited analysis from the nonpartisan congressional scorekeeper is likely to shake up the debate in Congress over the measure. The estimate of the drop in coverage is larger than even many analysts had predicted.

The report finds that the 24 million people would become uninsured by 2026 largely due to the proposed changes in Medicaid. The bill both ends the extra federal funds for the expansion of Medicaid and caps overall federal spending for the program, both of which CBO says would lead to people losing coverage.

Premiums in the individual market for health insurance would increase before 2020 and decrease after that, according to the CBO report.

That's what happens when you don't force people to buy insurance they don't want.

But, That is to be expected.

There are millions who cannot afford health care on their own. So, you will have to pay for their emergency services through higher premiums of your health care and many of those fold will die because they waited too long to go to the emergency room. I saw this happen to a number of people at the free clinic where I volunteered.

Enjoy your higher premiums.

Still will be much lessor than were under ObamaCare! And millions will choose not to have any, and most people still can get assisted by their States, has hospitals cannot just turn away sick!

Actually it won't. Estimation says the first year your premium may go up as much as 20% ... and as we know such estimates are usually low.

You are right, hospitals cannot turn away people and your insurance premiums will go up as well as your taxes to pay for them.

Hospitals haven't been able to turn anyone away for decades. Taxes to cover that will not change in the least. They never went down when Obamacare went into effect because hospitals never quit covering the uninsured.

This statement by the source in the OP is not the truth:

"The report finds that the 24 million people would become uninsured by 2026 largely due to the proposed changes in Medicaid."

The CBO actually says that about 10 million fewer than that will be caused by changes in Medicaid and it leaves out the fact that in states like Texas, that never bought into Obama's medicaid false promises and lies, the change will be miniscule, if at all.

The states will now get to decide how to spend their money, instead of big broither requiring all to get covered!

Still less than Obamacare, and heard that premiums will lower later on...

Do you see a Constitutional right to have all covered by public health insurance? If so, where is that found in it?

How did you "see" them die when they didn't show up for care? How do you knpw they waited too long? did they tell you with their dying breath?

You statement doesn't pass the smell test. I believe you are making it up.

The Democrats have done a good job propagandizing that the end result of any health care plan should be universal coverage. That is their criteria. They chose this criteria because typically it is required that a single payer system be instituted to realize this goal. And let's be honest, that is the Democrat's end game.

I don't accept that universal coverage is the goal. The goal ought to be low cost and high quality.

If you think the automotive equivalent is that everyone should have a 1976 Trabant, then universal coverage is your ideal.

If you think low cost and high quality should be the goal then a Hyundai Sonata is more your style.

Basically it comes down to this:

* Universal coverage
* High quality
* Low cost

Pick any two.

I'd suggest you volunteer at a free clinic and see for yourself. You might learn there are real people with real needs, with real suffering and pain. Of course, I expect you do not want to see the real world with real problems with real suffering. After all you might see something upsetting to you in your little closeted life.

Some were so eaten up with cancer there was no way they could survive long.
Some died on the way to the emergency room.
Some died within hours or a day or two of coming to the free clinic.

So seeing them is what "told" you that they sought treatment too late because they had no insurance...and they died because of it.

It was a deathbead statement meant for just you so you could post it on BB...and maybe facebook.

I'd suggest that you shelve your "holier than thou" attitude and quit subtly condemning everyone who doesn't see the world through your myopic liberal lens!!:Mad

I don't buy health insurance. Men don't save men. God saves men.

That's what happens when you don't force people to buy insurance they don't want.

It is my understanding, that a majority of the 24 million will be the parents of the DACA/Dreamwrs, who in California get insurance because their children are getting it. If that is true, and I don't know for sure, then I have no sadness within me, because these folks are not supposed to be receiving medical insurance. And that goes for children brought here illegally, or those kids who came on their own.

If they want insurance let them buy it. Let them return to their native lands.

Like most of his OP's, it is borderline "fake news!"
