one that combines a flag (Confederate) and chain link fence...

Zac Chyanne Benson explains:
The material I used...metal fencing, allowed me to navigate what I believed and what I was feeling as metal fencing is often used to divide or keep someone out.
How I decided to display the piece is the most important. I rolled it up, to make it feel...small, and like it’s hiding in a corner. Like it’s saying..."I'm ashamed."

OK, how did he tie himself up like that? And how did he get out? If someone helped him escape, could they be charged with some sort of crime? :Wink
Interviewed about it:

Artist Zac Chyanne Benson

[doesn't really answer your question, but gives a glimpse into the mind of a performance artiste]

Zac Chyanne Benson "...It just felt natural to do performance art since this was all about me."

"[It] was about this idea that I had my future planned and letter after letter came back and I started to realize I would have to adjust my plan. I wanted to convey this personal experience through a performance so I decided to dress up as if I were ready to go somewhere and tie myself to the beam above my personal studio for a period of time."

[He's found Cedarville University to be "a community of people who support the work I am making"]

Jennifer Nelson: "How does teaching at Cedarville University, a private, co-educational Baptist school, inform your personal artwork?"

Zac Chyanne Benson: "...I don’t think Cedarville has informed my work that much since I was making this body of work previous to this position. With that said, it is very helpful to be in a community of people who support the work I am making."

I wonder what David Jeremiah thinks about CU? My friend's oldest daughter is a CU alumna. Soon after she grad'd from CU, she married a USMC (Who was w/ CU's ROTC.) Julie was quite a violin (oops! 'Cause me ...."Fiddle" player!) When she was only a young teenager, she played w/ the Nashville Symphony Orchestra's "Youth Symphony." Of Julie was NOT in CU's' "Pastoral" track (Neither was her husband-to-be!) She's now a USMC "brat," but I still remember her playing her vio....oops 'cuse me,' FIDDLE' 4 us at our church in Antioch! (www.lighhousenashville.org).

I knew Al Henson slightly, founder of the church, about 50 years ago. We went to Japan out of Franklin Rd. Baptist in Murfreesboro, just south of there.
He's STILL kickin' round! Bro. Al had some "Medical/Physical" "Issues," e.g., a "slight" form of Parkinson's disease, etc.. He/we weren't SURE what else he may have to endure in the wks/yrs 2 come. God IS in control of things like that, but Bro. Al also felt that the "rigors" of this might be 2 much 2 B a "FULL-TIME" pastor. OTOH, he believed that our LORD seemed 2 B leading in a different (but IMPORTANT) direction. So he & a few other Christian leaders decided to form COMPASSIONATE HOPE FOUNDATION. C H F's impact is "primarily" to reach out 2 unreached areas of the world, e.g., India & SE Asia. CHF has/& still does had an impact on many "forgotten" people. CHF's work in that (Most heavily populated segment of the world!) goes more than being missionaries. CHF has founded "Schools/Cities" of HOPE, esp. 4 those young women who've had their lives ruined by the evils of the SEX "trade." .... CHF has founded several of these cities in different parts of Laos & Thailand. God has used CHF 2 "Rescue the Perishing, Care for the DYING!" Young women have been released from the prison(s) that sinful people have put these innocent ladies in. Not many people in the USA seem to be aware of this "Wicked & Perverse" SEX trade, Abt a month or so ago, Bro. Al introduced LCF to six young ladies that CHF rescued fm this HORRIBLE situation. None of these 6 knew much English, BUT THEY all KNOW JESUS!! (I could go on), but I just "wantcha 2 no" how our Heavenly Father has continued 2 use Bro. AL!..."Praise GOD, from whom ALL blessings flow!" /s/ P fm A....BTW, I do get the "Sof the LORD" paper. It's MUCH better than the TENNESSEAN!! :) :)

Sad for any Christian organization to give a voice to such political and antichrist trash. We have a young man from our church at Cedarville now because his mother is an alumnae. May have op to talk with her about this disgrace.

My grandson attends Cedarville.

Anti-Christian... not really.
It's college art... not pretentious or refined.
It's not meant to last.
"Performance art" is all about communicating a message.
The first impression doesn't usually communicate the message - you need to think about it.
After the exhibit the art will be probably be discarded - like your child's kindergarten art.

1st pic - transgender symbol disappearing into nothingness
2nd pic - American symbol disheveled and in disarray, freedom can be dangerous and messy.

Do I like it - it doesn't matter to the artist.
Do I want to spend more time thinking about it - not really.

Right now, Bro. Al is developing plans to help the poor people of Thailand as a result of a very devasted monsoon that stuck that country. The particular region that bore the brunt of this monsoon was one of the worst areas that has engaged in Thailand's satanic "sex" trade. Two of CHF's "Cities of Hope" there were so heavily destroyed, leaving these young ladies that CHF was able to rescue without a safe home.... CHF has helped Thailand in many other similar situations in the past (cf. the Good Samaritan !) In a couple weeks Bro Al will fly over to Thailand himself to help in this recovery effort. Please pray for him & those who will be flying to SE Asia with him.
