Obama Administration to Release Detainee Abuse Photos; Former CIA Official Says Former Colleagues 'Don't Believe They Have Cover Anymore'
April 24, 2009 10:23 AM

In a letter from the Justice Department to a federal judge yesterday, the Obama administration announced that the Pentagon would turn over to the American Civil Liberties Union 44 photographs showing detainee abuse of prisoners in Afghanistan and Iraq during the Bush administration.

The photographs are part of a 2003 Freedom of Information Act request by the ACLU for all information relating to the treatment of detainees -- the same battle that led, last week, to President Obama's decision to release memos from the Bush Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel providing legal justifications for harsh interrogation methods that human rights groups call torture.

Courts had ruled against the Bush administration's attempts to keep the photographs from public view. ACLU attorney Amrit Singh tells ABC News that "the fact that the Obama administration opted not to seek further review is a sign that it is committed to more transparency."

Not only are CIA and officials going to be resigning and retiring at alarming rates, there will be only ONE MAN to blame at the outpouring of islamic rage that is going to come down on the USA - OBAMA! This is the CHANGE America voted for. He has in his power the ability to keep this from happening but he wants this country to come to its knees, as indoctrinated well by Jeremiah Wright for 20 years. And yes, I do believe it - I don't make this statement lightly, but with a heavy heart.

Most of us here can remember the islamic rage all over the globe over those few photos from Abu Ghiarib. I remember islamic rage all over the globe from the allegations of a Quran being placed in a toilet, over cartoons, over their offense at exposures of truth about their religion from film maker Theo Van Gogh whom they murdered in the Netherlands. But we had a strong president, that whatever mistakes he made, the world knew not to mess with him or with US. He has been vilified and hated by our enemies and by the left, by the ACLU and Move On and the Huffington post, the Hollywood elite, and the New York times media elite, but he kept us safe after 09/11, even if the methods used were disagreed on by many here, we were still safe.

Now, with the release of these photographs, no matter what is depicted, no matter how humane or inhumane, no matter what is depicted, they will be headlines of media all over the world and a new flame of islamic rage will be ignited which will bring a terrorist attack, perhaps several attacks, on the USA. Bowing to the king of Mecca will not have made a difference. Smoozing with dictators will not have made a difference. The money of the Hollywood and media moguls will not have made a difference. We will be attacked and it will be terrible for we the people.

Prudence would demand to take precautions now to stock up on food, water, and medical supplies for our families.

I hope I am wrong, but judging from past history of islamic rage coupled with the Obama administrations concerted efforts to eviscerate our intelligence gathering and his actions to use the executive branch to appoint czars (and I do blame this ONE MAN, OBAMA, for releasing this information and photographs, he does have the power to do what GW Bush did and stop it), and I do blame the ACLU and the blame America first crowd,

and knowing Obama has the authority to declare Martial Law in the event of a national crisis, I am saying to prepare yourselves for the CHANGE.

Certainly, I don't believe this is the change those of you who voted for him had in mind, but the most foolish among us with any common sense surely cannot believe that releasing these photographs is not going to inflame the muslim world. If anyone believes that this is not going to harden the lines between East and West, then you are totally deluded.

We shall see what happens, but I have this sick feeling in my stomach that the end of life as we know it in America is on the threshhold of being gone, not in years, not in months, but weeks or even perhaps in days.

I certainly hope I am wrong. I pray I am wrong. :tear:

Even so, Lord Jesus, Come Quickly.

If we have committed atrocities against God and the rest of the world I think it's time for us to come forward and admit them. I'm sick of the covert evil that was committed in our name by the previous administration.

I guess because the evil of slaughtering unborn or just born children is not covert it is acceptable, even though 50 million have been slaughtered and the obama crowd are its prime proponents.

And Jeremiah Wright would agree. So do you agree with the overt evil that is committed in our name by the present administration (increased world wide abortion funding for one), or bowing to the king of Mecca, or smoozing with other dictators who violate human rights?

and what about the present adminstration.

JC has no criticism for those whom he endorses.

If he has the power to discern both good and evil, he doesn't show any grace towards the previous administration for the good that it stood for.

LadyE, I agree with you: Bush kept us safe. This I think is not only our concensus, if we're honest, but the world in which those countries who continued in patronage to the extreme expressions of Islam saw terrorism continuing and even escalating within their own borders.

In the end, it is in the power of God's own hand of protection and judgement which keeps us safe. We can be both comforted and fearful of this fact.

Bush was not ashamed to acknowledge that wisdom and peace come from consulting with God, and he let it be known that prayer was a regular part of his life when making certain decisions affecting the safety and welfare of our country. I find reason to admire his leadership in some ways for this reason even if no other existed.

I don't hear any acknowledgement from the cipher about God or prayer. I'm not sure it would have any impact as I don't even know who he prays to or believes in as he does not consider this important enough in his walk in life to be transparent about his spiritual resolutions or principles which drive his direction.

Certainly, if we take into account the character and aspirations of people who mentored him, and courted him, and helped to position him into the leadership as President, without any significant accomplishment on his part to show qualification, we could justify our doubt of his character and spiritual evolement by the character and spiritual vacancies of his friends. He request of us that we put our trust in him, that we believe in him, that we have hope because he says so: This is a substitute for God, whom he does not publicaly acknowledge. While a leader of a country does not lead his nation in worship, he does represent the ordained authority given by God and whether he acknowledges that or upsurps it upon his own power and esteem is a spiritual influence upon the nation he leads and his ability to influence other nations.

Like a Christian should not be too concerned with whom he pleases and whom he offends as long as every conduct of his is in the committment to the authority of Christ upon his life in and through his actions, if we have or had a leader committed to Christ, who under the authority of God's will, makes decisions for our nation, then it should matter little whether the world is amazed, friendly, jealous, or offended. The opinions of the world become a moot point, as even the power is limited for the rest of the world to act against those who lead in the authority and power of God's good will.

Obama said it all in the authority and power of his office as President when he stated that America is not a Christian nation, thereby offending the very principles upon which this nation was founded. We may not all be Christians, just like we are not all Jews, nor are we all of any one faith or religion.... but the very principles of freedom and morality and the natural law upon which our nation was founded came from the authority of scripture and the beliefs in the God, which the Bible represents as being the true spiritual authority: it is upon this basis that our country has been historically defined and characterized as being "a Christian nation"....... which historic definition Obama is seeking to change. He may succeed in changing the text in books, with the help of his allies... like the ACLU... and changing the way our country is defined to both its people and the world....... but as much as he may change even the written history.... he cannot change history ....nor can he change the obligations of each generation to remind each new generation of the covenant stones and victories of faith through which it has passed with and through the help of God.

Obama may deny giving credit to God's power and authority, but he cannot deny God of His rightful glory and honor, who is mighty enough to hold even him accountable in judgement and those who follow his leadership as though he were a god.

Jesus Christ is King of kings, and LORD of lords! One day He will rule the world. In the betwixt of time, man will play out his attempts to upsurp the power and authority of God until one day the fruit of rebellion is so completely and fully ripe for the judgement, in which day, man will have lost any power to appeal as all human works will be proven to be dead. There will be nothing left standing which is out side the will and purpose of God. Then the meek will inherit the earth and all persons and things will commit and submit to the glory and power of God. What a wonderful day is coming, just around the bend of human imposters of power and destruction!

Thank you, windcatcher, for a well thought out and meaningful post, expressed so truthfully. You are correct on all points.

Psalm 2:
[1] Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
[2] The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
[3] Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
[4] He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

I once read a comment to the effect that: "If Sen. McCain sat down without warning, Sen. Graham would then have a broken nose!"

Applying that same thought to the "0" minions, how many of this board's liberals would figuratively be in the same situation as Sen Graham??

Based on many of the replies and their protective attitude of the "0", if "0" declared Christianity to be illegal, illogical or even just undesirable, the liberals on this board (many anyway) would be conspicuous by their absence at church Sunday AM!:BangHead:

When the pictures are released, our troops serving along side muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan will be slaughtered due to islamic rage. Those soldiers and police being trained by us with our munitions and equipment are muslims first before anything. These pictures will be seen around the world and will only serve one purpose, to inflame muslim rage. Our soldiers will be the first to feel the islamic wrath. It will be called "friendly fire." There have already been incidents where our troops have been killed by islamic soldiers they were training and that was before the pictures.

Tourists, business people, diplomats and other Americans will become moving targets for islamic rage. And the rage will continue within our own borders.

Be prepared. The islamic rage like our world has never seen is upon us in a matter of days upon release of those pictures. It doesn't matter that the pictures were taken for prosecutory purposes to those who abused interrogation of prisoners. The islamic world will not see them as what they were intended for. They will use them as propaganda to recruit jihadists and to slaughter Americans, even our troops. The blame for what is to befall us rests on one person and one person alone, Obama.

That's what Bill O'Reilly was talking about last night. He was outraged (as I was) over the New York Times' poltical cartoon showing the Statue of Liberty weilding a whip. He was saying that if the photos were used in a criminal court to be used as evidence is okay. However, those photos are being used as a tool for the far left propaganda machine. This is only going to create more problems for us.

Anyone as pious as you belongs in a monastery. I suggest one of those in Greece on top of one of those sheer columns. If you prefer to live in this wicked country there is a place in Utah [Monument Valley I believe] where they used to make all those bloody western movies that has similar columns.

That is one B.O. who gets it. The other B.O. is doing this deliberately to advance his evil agenda, IMO.
