Charges Possible Over Video Of Black Student Eating Chicken

EASTON, Pa. (AP) – A teenager accused of producing a racist video of a black classmate eating chicken and posting it online could face criminal charges, a prosecutor said Wednesday.

Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli said he’s considering ethnic intimidation and harassment charges against a 14-year-old white student at Saucon Valley High School.

The teenager recorded a 16-year-old black boy eating chicken wings and in narrating the video called the older boy the N-word and made references to “being broke and on welfare,” said Morganelli, who called the video “reprehensible” and “repulsive.”

After seeing the video on social media, the black student attacked the white student at a football game, Morganelli said. Lower Saucon police charged the black student with assault and other offenses; the charges are pending in juvenile court.

Oh well?

I am of Italian-Jewish heritage.

I am not offended by movies portraying Italians eating spaghetti or Jewish people eating bagels.

Now, if the white boy made racist remarks then he should be charged with his crime.

I think there is a lot more going on in this story than some trumped-up "hate crime". The white boy is two years younger than the black kid, so the black kid could have been bullying him for awhile, so he filmed the black kid eating in order to get even. The black boy later saw the white kid at a football game and assaulted him, so I doubt he consented to being taped in the first place. Who knows?

It's just another term created by the left to curb free speech.
Yes, but the tactic is to get folks to accept the term and then legislate it (legally or otherwise).
As Salty reminded me it's an acceptable outcome of the Freedom of Speech.

May or may not happen under a Trump administration. We'll just have to wait and see.

Yes many of us took a gamble with Trump and my prayer is that he doesn't disappoint us.

I don't consider it much of a gamble at all, considering the alternative.

I'll be watching him closely on a couple of issues, immigration and the supreme Court nominees. If he sells out on either one of those, he will be a one term president.

Foreign affairs doesn't worry me. He'll have some gaffs, but no apology tours. We're so disrespected now that he can hardly do worse.

It's a given the economy will pick up like it would not have under Hillary and he's already made his stance on the 2nd amendment very clear.

But if he crosses the voters on those 2 issues, it will be 4 and out.
