Charismatic women pastors

Yesterday I had a phone chat with a local pastor of a charismatic church. My motives were an attempt to reason with the pastor, but she did not hear me out and neither of us could persuade one another. However I did notice one thing is that all her justification for the way she teaches her people to do evangelism on the streets was from her personal opinions and experiences, and she would claim things that Jesus did, but ignore what Jesus said. Allot of people these days focus much on what Jesus did, but ignore what he said. I told her that Jesus openly preached REPENTANCE and so did John the Baptist. She did affirm essential doctrine and did not claim to be a prosperity preacher, did not affirm what Joel Osteen teaches, nor WOF doctrine, so after looking a little closer my conclusion is that she is a Arminian, but not a heretic. For heretics check out these churches.

Me and the pastor could not agree on much and so we parted ways. But by her logic the way to do evangelism is to love people, and show Christ to them, but never to preach REPENTENCE FROM SIN She gave me examples of people coming to faith by her methods, and I challenged her view with the doctrine of election, but she did not like to hear this.

However perhaps I need to be more confrontational in my approach with these type. I was listening to a WOTM Podcast and Ray Comfort get very confrontational with a female heckler whom believed the way to do evangelism was to show God's love, but never to preach on sin. Ray challenged her in front of everyone and openly confronted her, it was amazing and what an example that Mr. Comfort set on how to deal with these types of people.

Two words: Woman Pastor. That conversation was over before it started. :tonofbricks:

I agree and concur. However I felt her inability and stubbornness to teach her people to preach REPENTANCE, and how to do Biblical evangelism was a more dangerous position than her being a pastor. The Bible is clear on the role of women in the ministry and she is overstepping her bounds, however not preaching repentance of sin, and just preaching love all the time is more dangerous.

But Padre, the Bible says a pastor should be the husband of one wife.... oh- now we have another problem.....
Tell that to pastor Jessie......no wait:laugh:

Per Jessie ....... Being in such a conservative seminary environment only served to strengthen my beliefs that people are hungry for a faith community that welcomes all people, honors all relationships and celebrates worship as a joyful expression of God’s love. It is my hope that everyone leave church feeling happier and more empowered to do good in the world than when they walked in.

Repentance and faith in jesus to get saved are the work of God towards those of us who are to be saved by Him, so what did she teach on that?

was she more free will type pastor?

And what does she base her authority to be the pastoral leader in her group upon?

Can a person truly repent of his sins against God unless and until he believes that he has sinned against God? Does preaching repentance to one who does not believe he has sinned against God make sense?

 Oh..... what does making sense have to do with anything?

I'll admit that I'm a little confused by some of the statements here, and maybe I'm misunderstanding. Firstly, I agree that a woman should not be a pastor of a church. I also agree that repentance should be preached.

What I am confused about is the free will/Armenian comments. I myself am non-cal. And I've always heard repentance preached. Does the Armenian position hold to no repentance?

I hold to a free will, and preach repentance.

For my own clarity, could you please interpret 1 Corinthians 2:14?

She was strong on FREE WILL indicating that man chooses God and if her methods brought results they were good. She claimed to believe in sin but insisted on being nice about it and not preaching on Hell.

I will add that there are Calvinist and Arminian whom are strong on this style of relationship evangelism. This alone did not make her a heretic just a confused and disobedient individual. We did not chat about her role as a pastor as I felt in the limited time I needed to hit on the larger issue which was her evangelism and what she teaches her people.

I will probably email her a thank you for the chat message and tell her when I run into her people on the streets I will challenge them with the gospel and the truth.

Not even WinMan I do not believe to be as confused as that female.

Yes good Arminian preach repentance. But they think it is man whom chooses God and they deny total depravity.

Most of the Arminians I know believe a person responds to the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. Consistent with that is the belief that man is so depraved that he or she is unable to recognize the need of a Savior without the the conviction that comes only from God.

I'm sure there are Arminians that disagree with that position but I could cite you about 20 sermons of Wesley's that support what I've written above.

I don't know of any arminians who deny total depravity; just the opposite, actually.
