Marcia, where have you been? I was born in '65 and I have watched "A Charlie Brown Christmas" ever since I can remember. I don't think I have ever missed a year. It's a modern classic and has a great message. And, it's a lot better than the other modern classic where the message is "You'll shoot your eye out kid."

Well, one thing for sure - I am not giving my age!

Most of my childhood was overseas and I watched no TV. I did not watch much TV until the 90s - before that, only a few shows here and there.

And I was not a Christian until later in life, so Christmas show held no interest for me at all. I probably would have made fun of it.

 Thanks for the compliment!

No, I'm not that young. I know who Charlie Brown is but I've never seen the C Brown Christmas show.

Your assignment this Christmas, is this:!

Make some hot chocolate
rent the cartoon
And watch it

You will be blessed!

It will be on ABC, I'm sure, very soon. I bet she's never seen "The Great Pumpkin" or the Charlie Brown Thanksgivivg special where popcorn and toast is served and if I'm not mistaken, Snoopy gets shot down by the Red Barron.

You're right - not seen "The Great Pumpkin" but heard of it, nor the Thanksgiving one.

Hate to tell you - but I'm not a Charlie Brown fan. I don't even read the Charlie Brown funnies. I have read it in the past but it's just not my cup of tea. I think I can live without Charlie Brown. :wavey:

I appreciate the replies. The play has been discussed with the youth that I work with. On the plus side a lot of kids are excited about the possiblities of being involved. On another plus side, a lot of parents who usually don't attend Church are very interested in seeing their child in a "Charlie Brown Christmas". Now the negative side of this is that the play seems to be offensive to some in our congregation who know about it. It is not worth being out of fellowship with others if this will cause a divide but still I think of those parents who would come to see their child in a play , I like the possibilities that presents.
I myself like Charlie Brown Christmas. I read or heard that CBS didnt approve of Linus reading the the Gospel of Luke. This was in 1965 mind you.

And since 1965 the message of Christmas has reached millions upon millions.
God uses everyone and I get excited how when I see the ways of how it is done even if it appears to be insignificant, God's plan works in so many wonderful ways.

You poor poor deprived children.

I've had a very rich life, traveled all over, learned and spoke other languages from a very young age, saw amazing things not many have seen -- really an incredibly unboring life. So I do not feel deprived at all just because of a cartoon show. :wavey:
