MP, I sure thought I saw where you had posted in the Women's Fellowship Forum. So, it was natural for me to assume you were a woman. So, no insult intended.

President Hugo Chavez claimed this week that he and his Cuban ally Fidel Castro are more conservative than left-wing U.S. President Barack Obama, referring to the American government bailout and takeover of General Motors, Reuters reported.

The Venezuelan leader was giving a speech on the "curse" of capitalism on Tuesday as GM was filing for bankruptcy and preparing for Washington to take control of 60 percent of the 100-year-old symbol of American capitalism.

Is Hugo Chavez a reliable source of information? He has repeatedly made anti-American statements over the last several years.

No one is using Chavez as a source of information. Obviously he is making a statement of opinon which may or may not be accurate and may or may not be disingenuous.

What we can do is look at his words and Obama's actions and see if they line up.

In this instance they appear to line up pretty well.

Why so defensive?

If you approve of Obama's actions this should not bother you.

He is an expert on communism. On that he is reliable. If he is so anti-American ( and I am not arguing against that) then why is Obama so chummy with him.

There is the flaw in your argument. Obama is not chummy with him. Chavez approached the President at a meeting and gave him a book. Big deal.
