In keeping with his “We Can’t Wait” initiative, President Barack Obama has once again asserted that if Congress does not enact his policies in the future, he will continue to forge ahead on his own.

“When Congress refuses to act, Joe and I are going to act,” Obama said on Tuesday, with Vice President Joe Biden at his side. “In the months to come, wherever we have an opportunity, we’re going to take steps on our own to keep this economy moving.”

And if you think it's bad now, wait until he doesn't have to worry about elections anymore. Which is one of the biggest reasons why that badly needs not to happen.

The constitution grants the president the ability to rule by executive orders. The check on that power was to be the state-house-chosen Senate, which had the power to impede executive orders. Since Senators are now chosen by popular vote, a popular president, or even a semi popular president can reign unchecked.

[of course, anyone such as myself, or Ron Paul, who would like to go back to the original constitution, is labeled as a nutty uncle that must be kept in the basement, so why complain?)
