Years ago I read an article that had a sentence in it than ran something like this:

"What do you make of a country {Russia} where even the taxi driver discusses Tolstoy and Dostoevsky as well as playing chess in their spare time?"

Ben, you are probably thinking of the 'fool's mate' for White.

Here is the two move checkmate for black:

White Black
1. f3 e5
2. g4?? Qh4#

A two move mate is impossible for White, but not for Black.

I forgot to come back and check if you replied. Its been quite awhile since playing with any regularity but I do recall seeing that checkmate before, just wasn't thinking of it being accomplished in 2 moves. Thanks.

White shouldn't have been opening that way. :tongue3:
