Have to agree with Don. If you don't understand that the ACA is funded in the budget, you need a basic civics course. The ACA has everything to do with funding the government. Funding the ACA will eventually bankrupt this country, and if we don't stop it now, it will be too late to do so when the Republicans have a Senate majority next year.Obamacare shouldn't have anything to do with whether or not the government is funded.
And now you prove yourself ignorant of the democratic process. Democrats had a majority in both houses of Congress. Republicans couldn't defeat it, because the blind loyalty of the socialists in the other party to the Great Pretender's grand vision -- the reality of that vision being that it is an inch deep and five miles wide -- caused them to ignorantly buy into a pig in a poke, and only now are discovering the facts behind the mask the ACA wore for four years. It is a disaster, and now the Democrats can't afford to destroy the legacy of their leader, or they are faced with the repudiation of everything they have stood for the last 50 years. They'd rather see the economy and the country fail than admit they have been wrong for three generations. They didn't do what they needed to do to defeat it way back when and now are desperately holding the funding of the government for ransom unless they finally get their way.
Steering away from the rocks that will sink the ship is a bad precedent? Geez, are you dense! It's a very bad precedent to set.
No. Brilliantly lucid, finally.Got a piece of legislation you don't like and we can't get it repealed? Let's shutdown the government until they decide to change it.
Absolutely foolish.
Spin is no longer working. They've tried to spin this fight, the shutdown and are now working on the debt ceiling and spinning it. But the American people aren't buying it anymore. Fifty-six percent want the ACA gutted or repealed. Fifty-eight percent don't want the debt ceiling raised unless there are accompanying spending cuts. The Democrats are floundering, and there is no life jacket. All the Dems need to do now is start a dialog of what if?
What if the Republicans don't like the Social Security system?
What if the Republicans can't come up with another way to change Roe vs Wade?
What if the Republicans think Affirmative Action needs to be thrown out?
On the contrary, they finally see the Republicans are the only ones who care about them. The Republicans are the only one trying to awaken us from this nightmare. The Republicans have shown the American people that they really don't care about them.
You have that wrong, too. A very reasonable solution to this fiasco is for the Great Pretender to admit the obvious, that the ACA is flawed, that its implementation is flawed, that it is patently unfair to delay the business mandate but leave the individual mandate in place, and on top of all that, the electronic enrollment piece is totally dysfunctional. Once he admits that, he could then quite rationally decide it is best to delay the whole thing for a year to make sure the bugs in the entire system are worked out. But he sees that as a defeat, and is willing to let it fail -- which it most assuredly will -- rather than make the human admission that he is wrong. They just want to get their way and don't mind shutting down the government to do so.
Yeah, and newsflash for you, Zaac: THIS IS IT!! When an out-of-control majority in one house is outnumbers by the reasoned and fair stance of the majority in the other house, and the people are behind that reasoned and fair majority, it is incumbent upon the legislators to hear the majority opinion of the electorate. If they will not listen -- Hint: We're talking about the socialist Democrats here -- then you do what must be done to save the republic from financial and social ruin. There's a legislative process for changing laws.
Only if you are the ignorant Great Pretender in the White House -- or one of his woefully misguided and deluded supporters. Otherwise, the Republicans look like the heroes of the hour. Live with it. That's how history is going to play it out.Yet they are supposed to be the party of conscience and morality. Well currently they look disgustingly like selfish manipulators.
So what? Your ignorance of what you think I'm ignorant of strikes me as pretty ignorant.
My comments about your ignorance are based directly off of your posted statements, which show an ignorance of how the ACA was going to be funded through the appropriations bill that funded the entire government. That's what this back-and-forth between Dems, Reps, and the prez has been about for the last couple of weeks. For you to say that the ACA had nothing to do with funding the government, showed a fundamental ignorance of the fact that the ACA was going to be funded through that same government funding.
For you to then spout off your wordplay about ignorance, instead of intelligently rebutting me with facts that supported your previous statements, further solidifies my analysis of your grasp of the situation.
The ignorance here is about how our government is supposed to work. Just because something has passed as law in the past does not mean that congress has a responsibility to fund it.
See this is part of our checks and balances system. This is why both sides need to work together. Because there is always a way to trump the other side.
Some folks need a lesson in government. Especially before that try to act like they know what they are talking about.
Or the alternative is just sticking up for a black president at all costs.

Do you oppose everything because he is black?
Why would Congress pass it if they are not going to fund it?
Yes, so it is way past time for the GOP to stop being obstructionist and find a way to compromise for the good of the country.
Physician, heal thyself.
Do you oppose everything because he is black?
He does. And for some reason, he seems to think it pushes my buttons when he talks about the color of the President's skin.
I don't care what pushes your buttons. I just state the obvious.
You mean like you having a problem with the President's black skin? One would think that some black person stole your high school sweetheart or something.
2 million folks out there. I'm sure there are plenty of opportunities out there to put those black folks demons to bed.
Actually I oppose everything he does because he is a Marxist.
Frankly, I do not believe you. It is obvious you have no idea what a Marxist believes or pushed for. Last year in a reply I asked which of the tenets of Marism he had pushed for. You never replied as he had pushed for none of them.
Rev. at least be honest about why you hate him.
I made my case long ago as to his Marixism. I remember you did not respond at all to that thread. And I do not believe you. You are just another race baiter on this board and always have been. You try to accuse every one of being racist that is white. Always have. You are well known for your lack of honesty on this board. And it has been prove over and over again.
You have never made a case
Zaac said:Boy I don't even care to speak to you. You're the worst type of Christian who tries to pretend to be objective and taking the high road when all you do is take one underhanded jab after the other. So save your comments for someone who as of now, ain't got you on ignore. :wavey:
But you think you push mine.
You have never made a case and it has become obvious you are extremely ignorant about Marxism and about economics.
Race baiting, in your dreams. You brought up race today.
And, like a child, when you are shown to know nothing, or be wrong you attempt to insult. Grow up Rev. and be a man ... face the facts.
