Figured it was time I voted. I could have checked several. While I don't agree with any of the later theories, I do agree with several of the earlier ones. But the one I agree with the most is the ransom theory. It was the earliest and longest held, and Jesus says directly that He came to give His life a ransom for many. That's my reason for believing it and voting for it.

Who did he pay the debt to?

And how can there be a opayment made for sin, and have the sinner not benefit from it, as this theory would hold to?

The OT sacrificial system was ALL a type pointing towards the Lamb of God to come as the sin bearer/atoner!

Someone MUST die to have the justice/wrath of god appeased for, if not thru substitutionary aspect, how would other views deal with Gods wrath/justice being paid for?

Some other views don't believe that's necessary, that God requires such.

Instead of asking all these questions, why don't you just go study the views themselves, and your questions will be answered?

You obviously have not studied in-depth, or you wouldn't need to ask the questions about the other views that you are asking.

i have looked them over, its just that none of them seem to fit the biblical mode of the Atonement as well as Substutionary does!

Would agree that other views are resresented in the Atonement, but the penal view would be the primary aspect of it!

Of course I disagree, but you are entitled to your opinion.

Do you believe the scriptures that God has wrath towards sinners?

that ONLY a sacrifice on their behalf can redeem them?

That ONE must pay in full the penalty for their sins, or else someone has?

That withouit the shedding of blood, NO remission for sin?
