Oh, well. (yawn) And how many communists and Muslims have stood within our own borders and preached death to Americans?

But they are not Christians. Amazing we complain about them for that, yet some of us will stoop to that level, using their "threat" against "the truth", or whatever as justification. That can work both ways, you know.

Pat Robertson barely made a ripple when he ran for president in 1988. I don't see why anyone pays attention to him about national policy in 2005 or why his statement should become a national issue. He should be ignored by Christian and non-Christian alike.

I would be concerned if I had one. Fortunately, I never have and never will.

Unfortunately, he is viewed by the many enemys of God, as a spokesman for the Christian community, and he repeatedly makes a mockery of Christianity.

I agree with hillclimber. It's embarrassing.

People like Pat Robertson just make my ministry more difficult because nonbelievers think all born again Christians "follow" Robertson and Jerry Falwell. I am always having to explain that I don't "follow" Robertson or Falwell. Plus, this was a very unChristian statement to make.

Serial stupidity.

Why doesn't he take the profits from his blood diamonds and retire to the West Bank?

Ack.

ol' Pat has a serious case of open mouth insert foot syndrome. Unfortunately when he spouts off non Christians assume he speaks for all Christians.

Robertson should be brought to trial in a Venezualan court. If found guilty, he should face the punishment. Why? Well, what would he be saying if a commentator in another country said Bush should be assassinated? He would argue that the US should prosecute them

Amen, to everybody who has pointed out that Pat Robertson is seen as having a lot more influence by the people on the outside than that he actually has on people on the inside (that means us).

If I ask some of my unbelieving (Dutch) friends to name a couple of American Christian leaders, they'll come up with Robertson&Falwell if they can name anybody at all.

To put things in proper perspective, if I ask them to name a couple of European Christian leaders, they'll pick the pope and than they can't name anybody else...
As a sidenote.
What truly grieves me is that when it comes to non-christians I've always found it easier to defend to them the positions taken by the last 2 popes than the things said by Robertson&Falwell, despite the fact I'm theologically speaking much closer to those last 2.

Imagine for a moment that Pat got his way and the CIA started murdering foreign Heads of State left and right because they obstructed US interests.
Some of you think the US is unpopular now, just wait untill after Delta Force has driven around Berlin with chancellor Schröder's head on a pike.

Why does Pat want him murdered? Because he is afraid of him? Pat, put your trust in Christ, you need fear no one when Jesus is the Lord of your life. Be worried about those that take your soul, not those that take your life!
