For those of you who hold to a view that music is amoral in itself and that any musical style is acceptable to God.

What book would you recommend to defend your position against people like me who think Christian Rock is worldly and Christian hop hop is worldly..etc?

Honestly? I wouldn't try to defend it. I learned long ago that it's just not an argument I care to engage in. It's been my experience that people who think rock and roll is evil aren't really interested in hearing anything anybody else has to say, anyway.

If it's your conviction that its bad, then, by all means, don't listen to it.

It's called "Contemporary Worship Music: A Biblical Defense" by John Frame. It's probably 10-15 years old, but it is very well written by a solid Presbyterian (don't hold that against him) theologian. As such, he also addresses some arguments from those who might think the regulative principle prohibits modern worship music. It's a very encouraging and freeing book.

I can't recommend it highly enough. It was very helpful to me after growing up in a church that taught against drums and such.

One other interesting read is Steve Camp's A call for REFORMATION in the contemporary Christian MUSIC INDUSTRY: BY STEVEN JOHN CAMP

It was written back in 1997, and I include it here because while Mr. Camp DOES see problems with the attitude and marketing in the CCM industry, He does NOT lay the blame on some undefined series of beats or notes. He does not reject any music style, but is able to critique some of the dangers of adopting a worldly mindset.

That book defends CCM? I doubt this is the book Jordan is looking for. He is IFB and probably wants a IFB book. For that Measuring the Music and books by Scott Anniol would be good.
