I have offended a handful of wonderful and sweet people by suggesting that they use snopes before they repeat things that they read or hear.

I disagree - you did NOT offend - she was not reasonable in seeking truth.

These urban legends just kill me. The one I didn't see with my quick glance is the one where George Bush led a someone to the Lord at a fund raising banquet, child I think. One lady in our church refused to believe it was false even when confronted with the truth. I guess some people would rather believe a good story then a hard truth.

That story was in the link Salty provided.

Have y'all heard about the Satanic symbols in the Proctor and Gamble Logo. I've heard that P & G keeps denying it. Yeah, sure, I would, too. They're just trying to cover up the conspiracy.

I have heard these:

Darwin's deathbed confession

Noah's ark (but I don't call that an urban legend; rather a biblical truth) Ah! I've just followed the "link from the link", and found that it's not Noah's ark as such, but the claim that it has been discovered. Sorry!

Luther's 95 Theses (Is it really just a legend that he nailed these to the door in Wittenberg?)
