One of these times try using scripture for this and be more concerened for how the Savior sees us. Scripture and scripture alone is the true standard.

I can see how my statement sounds like I'm not reading the Bible, or using it as my standard....I did not intend it that way. My point is that research, like presented in this book, can give us helpful insights on the type of impression we are giving. Based on the impressions we can find from the research, we can then LOOK AT SCRIPTURE if these are accurate portrayals of Jesus.

I definitely agree....yet she has been in the news recently proclaiming how she is Christian, followed by her summary of the New Testament as being a "fast track" in comparison to the Old Testament. No matter how foolish we think these people may be, they just may be representatives of "Christianity".

What people think about the Christianity of people like Anne Coulter is not my responsibility and has no reflection on me one way or the other. If you wish to believe that Christians are damaging their own image when someone who may or may not be a Christian misbehaves, no one can stop you.

I, for one, won't even try.

Your thinking is so convoluted that you wish to make true Christians responsible for the behavior of everyone that even claims to be a Christian.

It won't fly except with those who are looking for any excuse to deny Christ in the first place. If they're looking for a bad example, they can always find it. What they are really seeking is justification for their denial of Christ.

Christianity is looked at so negatively because of Christ not us. And Barnas secular standards are not a godly measuring tool. Scripture and scripture alone.

All I'm saying is that I find the research very interesting....and it reflects something that is generally true about the church in the past....oh, who knows how many years....that Christians have done plenty to give themselves some pretty "UnChristian" reputations. I think the book has laid that out in a thought-provoking way. I find it helpful to look at it, and to look at ourselves and how we interact with unbelievers. It isn't about changing what we say, or what we believe...but how we INTERACT with them.

???? Why the comeback?? It doesn't really make much sense???

Do you really not get anything that I'm saying?

I get it all too well.

Timmy was right. Scripture tells us the real reason why Christianity will be unpopular in certain quarters.

I find your suggestion quite repulsive that we evaluate scripture in light of what the book you are so shameless shilling says.

It should be the other way round. I suggest you give that a try.

It is a reflection on Christ.

There image is not important Christs is.

True Christians should be concerned about the behavior of anyone that claims to be a Christian because it reflects on Christ.

People do not need a reason to deny Christ! They do it everyday without a excuse.

We should be concerned about anything that does not let Gods true light shine.

God's light truly will not shine if we have to rush to alter our behavior every time a non believer doesn't like it.

You get defensive too easily. Why are you so defensive? I was just putting forth my thoughts. What comments did I make that caused you to be so accusatory towards me? You need to calm down, you're demonstrating the reason behind that book.

I know you were and here they are:

Would you like to rephrase it?

Final word:

If the world loves us too much, we are doing something drastically wrong.

"If the world hates you,
you know that it hated Me before it hated you.
If you were of the world, the world would love its own.
Yet because you are not of the world,
but I chose you out of the world,
therefore the world hates you."
(John 15:18-19)

"Do you not know that friendship with the world
is enmity with God?
Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world
makes himself an enemy of God."
(James 4:4)

I don't think there is anything wrong with that. This research is interesting, that lays out the idea that Christians may have put out an unbiblical portrayal of Christ. That is what the research suggests. How do we know? By looking at a Biblical portrayal of Christ. You see what is happening, then look at Bible to see if it is the way it should be happening.
