When did Christians and Muslims live side by side in peace for 2000 years ?

So I thought I'd start a new thread on Christians and Muslims living peaceably together. Here is for starters:

When did Christians and Muslims live side by side in peace for 2000 years ?

Christians and Muslims have co-existed peacefully before and must do so again

My question was not off topic. It was a response about a claim you made during the thread.

Despite your blatant dishonest, I will look at your response later.

Crabby, isolated incidents do not count. Just the other night a Muslim family sat at the table behind me in a local yogurt shop. We all got a long just fine. But, that does not excuse the fact that most of today's problems dealing with terrorism has ties with Islam.

Get a good book on mid-eastern history and you will find that until modern times that Christians and Muslims have lived together peacefully most of the time the last 2000 years.

He also said that it was an “indescribable tragedy” that Christianity is now threatened in an area where Christians have lived for 2,000 years, especially as they had previously live in peace alongside Muslims.

A professor of Christianity and Islam has said, despite headlines about extremist atrocities, many Christians and Muslims worldwide live peacefully as neighbours.

David Thomas is the Nadir Dinshaw Professor of Inter Religious Relations School of Philosophy, Theology and Religion at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.

He was speaking at the launch of the Anglican Communion’s latest edition of Christian-Muslim Digest – the newsletter of the Anglican Communion’s Network for Inter Faith Concerns (NIFCON).

“Behind the atrocities committed by extremists who say they act in the name of Islam, Christians and Muslims try to live together with respect and cooperation.

“In many places followers of the two faiths succeed in welcoming one another as neighbours and as friends. However, communal life is hampered by insensitive acts on one side or another.”

The guardian link does not come close to proving anything. It's a personal letter. Anyone can say anything in a letter.

The second link does not answer my challenge either.

2000 years of Christians and Muslims living side by side for has never happened.

I was wrong. They have not lived together in any manner for 2000 years as Islam has not been around that long. Let's be more accurate, for 1000 years.

"In Iraqi Kurdistan, 50,000 Christians live among 4 million Muslims, comprising just over 1% of the population. They respect each other as brothers who have lived together in peace for more than 1000 years. Peace between Muslims and Christians in the Arab region is possible, and has been practiced for more than a thousand years.

Yeah, that and you started this thread with a blatant lie. I doubt it was 1000 years as well but I will look at it in due time.

Your source is from 2005. A lot has changed since then.

Christians in in Iraqi Kurdistan are persecuted and leaving.

This bears repeating...

"Searching the internet for information gives people a ‘widely inaccurate’ view of their own intelligence..."

Not only that, but written Kurdish history doesn't begin until 1597. There are no historical accounts before the Sharafnameh.

So I thought I'd start a new thread on Christians and Muslims living peaceably together. Here is for starters:

This is in an ideal world! It is possible, and it should be. However, until the Muslims correct what is wrong in their hierarchy, it just may not be as big a piece a pie as it could be!
