Christians Carrying Concealed Weapons - Falwell vs. Piper

The simple fact is that the more people are carrying guns, the more likely we are to have two people drawing off against each other or someone just whipping out their gun in some deluded state and killing someone. We have trained police officers shooting innocent people because the officer mistakes a cell phone for a gun. What will your untrained student who just spent two days without sleep cramming for an exam do?
What we do not hear that is reported in the media, is the number of people who are not murdered, raped, assaulted, robbed, etc., etc., because they or someone close by was legally armed. (way more than those who are effected in a negative way) This is because the mainstream media reports all negative activity and attributes that to all gun owners, in the same way they report on the actions of a few that claim to be Christian.

The vast majority (over 99%+) of those who "whip out their guns in a some deluded state" are those who are not legally carrying and have no regard for the laws anyways. We don't even know if the laws that are on the books are sufficient or even work, as the are not enforced. Any additional laws that are passed, only restricts the law abiding citizens and those are the people who do not need more restriction. It is a person's right to own or not to own whatever, but it is not right to demand responsible citizens to do as others do simply because those people are not informed or refuse to understand the true facts.

No matter how or why people are anti-gun or anti-constitution, they are safer because I and others like me are armed.
Just saying.

I read this story yesterday. THIS is the perfect exhibit of what Christ wants us to do. We( Christians) have adopted the world's excuse that the best way to protect ourselves is to arm ourselves. And it runs 100% against Scripture and what Christ did on the Cross.

How often I have heard Christians talk about putting on the armor of God. Yet how quickly the same folks, and pastors too, will tell you the same thing that Jerry Falwell Jr did.

Scripture tells us that For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Eph. 6:12

When are we REALLY gonna start taking to heart that our battles are to be fought in the SPIRIT and not in the flesh?

What would have become of Shadrach, Meschech and Abednego if they had determined themselves to come up with their own way out of the fiery furnace instead of trusting that God would fight their battle?

Scripture shows again and again God demonstrating His supernatural protection of those who have trusted in HIM to fight their battles.

Perhaps if so many on the radicalized right who call themselves Christians were not so busy with guns and abortion and everything politics and were busier pointing folks to Christ and making new disciples...perhaps then there would be no need to think we need to be armed to fight our battles.

Yesterday a man entered a church where I live with a rifle and raised it up to his shoulder getting ready to take aim. The preacher had seen him and started praying for him out loud right away. The preaching prayed for a while and the gunman broke down and started crying lowering his rifle. The preacher still praying walked over to him and took the rifle from him and hugged him. Turned out the gunman is suffering from PTSD. The preacher said on the news prayer was his only hope in that moment of fear, and In my opinion it was the right thing to do.

I am OVERJOYED about this story.

But it leads to a question: What about the other pastors that followed a different path? Are they "less Christian" for what they did?
For example:
http://abc13.com/news/police-pastor-shoots-intruder-at-baytown-church/888280/

Or this one:
http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/20/us/alabama-church-shooting/
Should this pastor have not attempted to wrestle with the shooter?

Here's what I personally know: No two situations are the same. Ever. Trying to say that Christians--or non-Christians--should act a certain way, violates that reality.

What I think Zaac keeps trying to tell us, but comes across as abrasive towards the rest of his fellow Christians and therefore creates communication filters that inhibit his message, is that it's the motivation for our actions that should be questioned. Carry or don't carry; it's between you and God. Examine yourselves, and determine why you're carrying, or not carrying. Be ready to stand before God and give account.

That's my opinion. As I've said before, opinions are like armpits. We each have at least two, and some smell worse than others.
