    We have a lobby that is seen from the street and we put in a large tree that is decorated with ornaments made by our seniors and it's so fun to look at the different ornaments and think of those who made them who have passed on. We will be decorating the church on Friday of this week - we'll put up that tree with fake presents under it (looks nice) and then we put smaller trees on top of an overhang we have on either side of the front of the sanctuary (we put speakers up there) with garland in front. The trees are just simply decorated with white lights and it looks like a little forest up there. We have a bunch of other decorations too. Again, the whole staff is involved on Friday to decorate the church building inside and out for the holiday (and we get a free pizza lunch too - yeah - LOL) since Sunday is our first Christmas play. We have 2 shows Sunday, then a dinner show on Friday night, 2 shows on Saturday and 2 shows Sunday. Whew!! Busy week.

    So, yep, we'll have multiple Christmas trees, wreaths, pointsettias, garland and lights.

    Well, by golly, thats where I draw the line, too!!!:saint:

    One year, one of my deacons who ran a small grocery store along with his brother ---- "hired" me to play Santa at their store!! They supplied the suit ---- they paid me $75 dollareenies plus a choice of a Turkey or a Ham from their meat department

    I had a blast!!!

    But, no! Not in church!!

    Well, as I said, we do a play (VERY excellent) and give the clear Gospel message at it. We also do the holding hands and singing as a staff after we decorate on Friday. It's so beautiful - we have a large staff (we'll have 30 or so decorating) and we sing a capella. It always moves me. :D

    I think you all would look cute holding hands and singing Christmas carols and maybe a few deer antlers.

    We do a happy birthday Jesus thing but not a Christmas per se. I believe Christmas is more of a season than a day. Peace on earth and goodwill toward men.

    I love decorating a tree for Christmas. No pagan connotations in my mind whatsoever, just a fun addition to the celebration of our magnificent Saviour's birth. If I would have it in my home, why not my church? Jesus is LORD in both places.

    I love Christmas decorations, garland and wreaths and candles, and I love my Saviour most of all. If I can do these things to the glory of the LORD and in the name of Jesus, then praise be unto God!

    The Word doesn't prohibit it, so I am free to enjoy it and glorify my King through it.

    A Christmas Tree? Never!
    No! Not in the church; not in the house;
    Not in the yard; not even for a mouse.

    Since we meet in a theater, it's no. I see nothing wrong with it, though. Those who say it's "pagan" could find anything other Christians do to be the same.

    I am with you. Those who have a problem with this have a problem with Christian freedom.

    Well since my OP I have been mostly at the church for worship and yes even spent sometime in fellowship with others in decorating for the wonderful celebration of our Saviors birth. Our church put a 14 ft tree in the foyer and one on the platform, along with wreaths all along the walls. It looks beautiful and I truly am looking forward to joyously celebrating Jesus' birth with my Christian family. Not now nor ever been too worried about the legalist or pagan watchers throwing a wet towel on the celebration. They are as I am free in Christ to esteem the day as they choose. Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Jesus. Thank you for coming on that first Christmas morn (and yes I do understand that He was probably not born on Dec 25th)

    Always find it interesting that one would judge another's faith and walk by how they decorate the church building, while never having heard what has been taught. I guess that is what comes from believing that God has a "house" made by the hands of man, even though the Scripture does not teach such. It must be tough being so dogmatic about issues that have no Scriptural mandate. How can one possibly keep up with all the rules?:tonofbricks:
