Church is weak in the area of evangelism

New church I have been attending is strong in the DOG, strong in their preaching, teaching, and Biblical counseling but weak in their evangelism. Few tracts on the tract wall, no training programs, nor an emphasis on reaching the lost from the pulpit.

My parents church however is quite different. Strong association with WOTM, lots of WOTM tracts available on the tract wall, and the church is Calvinist! The pastor there makes witnessing a priority in his sermons and offers witnessing events and opportunities.

I have learned the hard way it is impossible to persuade someone against their will as I learned this morning trying to persuade a Android user to move to IOS. He used a MacBook and a Android (odd combination).

So what can an evangelist like me do about this in such a church? I could donate some tracts but that would be a waste of money. Could try and reason with the leadership but they probably would not hear it. I could probably just offer it in prayer.

Try asking the leadership, and offering your service. Maybe they've been waiting for someone to lead their outreach ministry.

I should ask around again, however I tried that once and it did not seem he was interested in such a program as he said they already tried that in the past.

What kind of a program?

Just got some advice and sent a email.

To xxxx;

I hope I spelled your name right :). Anyways I noticed the church does not have much in the line of evangelism training programs and I want to suggest one called The Way of the Master which is an excellent evangelism equipping program (http://www.wayofthemaster.com/btc.shtml). Such a emphasis on evangelism would encourage people to go out and pass out tracts, talk with lost souls, and share the faith. This evangelism program has been commended by John MacArthur, David Jeremiah, Charles Stanley, Josh & Sean McDowell, Joni Erickson Tada, and many other christian leaders.
