1 Corinthians 12:18 ...God arranged the members in the body, each one of them...

Obviously the facility is attached to a school, a Counseling Center [and dental clinic (?)]

I can think of a few more positions that are missing.

Director of Custodial Services
Manager of Custodians
Chief Custodian
Associate Custodian
Custodian Assistant
Youth Custodian
On-Call Custodial Service Associate

Director of Transportation Services
Manager of Parking and Traffic Services
Parking Lot Director

And that church used to have like 15-20 or so seminary students as coops or interns

I fail to see how that justifies a staff of 70.
Well...a lot of that us some type of school.

I know of churches with a budget of $3 million a year who spend $2.5 million on staff and the building. Justifying how to spend money sometimes is judged simply on how much money can be spent. Kinda like our government.

Hopefully our churches will have higher standards than our govt.

My belief is that a church (along with associations) should be starting new local churches.
My pet peeve is when folks are traveling 30-50 miles to attend a church
(yes, there are exceptions - ie low population....)

My bad. Looked it up again. About 8,000 average attendance.

I guess they have multiple services since the sanctuary holds 7,000.
John Macarthurs church (though he recently died) averaged 8000 Sunday morning attendance and has 14 pastors. Seems much more reasonable than 70.

I fear that the reason we have a number of very large "churches" is because of too much attachment to a particular Pastor. People would rather drive past other churches in order to be taught by "insert favorite big name guy." I think the Chuck Smith model of spinning off new plant or replant churches mirrors the model of scripture.

Paul planted churches, discipling and training people to become church leaders. Perhaps today, with the digital community pouring corrosives upon the populous, the fields are no longer white for harvest?
