is it wrong to not have Baptist in your name if you are really Baptist in your belief? Are you deceiving if in your membership class you don’t explain your Baptist beliefs?

IF the reason is for deception - that might be one thing - but often it is a matter of perception. Especially up North - often over 50% of the population is Roman Catholics. Many of theses RC's would never venture into a Baptist church - but they would be willing to go to a Community church. Since the RC's are not aware of the difference doctrine - it would not be deception.
Two separate questions...is it wrong to not have Baptist in your name if you are really Baptist in your belief? "Are you deceiving if in your membership class you don’t explain your Baptist beliefs?"
Ideally, I guess yes. Around here, "Baptist" is a big turn off to people of color. If you want an integrated church, you can do it much easier if you drop the label.is it wrong to not have Baptist in your name if you are really Baptist in your belief? Yes to all your questions.is it wrong to not have Baptist in your name if you are really Baptist in your belief? Are you deceiving if in your membership class you don’t explain your Baptist beliefs?
Mmmmm, you Baptist via immersion. You believe in radical grace via the HS and you practice discipling. That is Baptist.I think truth in labeling is important, but who decides what makes a church Baptist?
Catholics alsoIdeally, I guess yes. Around here, "Baptist" is a big turn off to people of color. If you want an integrated church, you can do it much easier if you drop the label.
All I can honestly say I know about Catholics and race in this area is that all the historically white Catholic churches are now predominantly Hispanic. Catholicism in North Ga is booming due to Hispanic influx.Catholics also
Same thing going on here, Hispanics are encroaching. Still they will tell you they would not select a Baptist Church over the new non denominational churches if they were to change churches. Baptist pastors know this and make adjustments to get them in the door. All I can honestly say I know about Catholics and race in this area is that all the historically white Catholic churches are now predominantly Hispanic. The Baptist churches in this area that do have significant Hispanic membership have two services, the English service and the Spanish service.Same thing going on here, Hispanics are encroaching. Yep....that makes sense and in keeping with their way of doing things. Keeps them comfortable. In my neighborhood there was a POLISH CATHOLIC CHURCH, a Slovak Catholic Church, a Ukrainian, German, Irish. Italian ... all Catholic all with country of origin language masses (services). The Baptist churches in this area that do have significant Hispanic membership have two services, the English service and the Spanish service.
The Polish Catholic Church is not affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. Many are now in pulpit affiliation with the Anglican Communion (Church of England).Yep....that makes sense and in keeping with their way of doing things. Keeps them comfortable. What time is the traditional service? Hopefully no drums and electric guitars! Our church, First Baptist, has 4 services on Sunday morning.
1. Traditional Service.
2. Spanish Service.
3. GYM service. (A coffee house type service for newer converts)
4. Contemporary Service.
The Spanish Service has by far the highest attendance.
