Churches That Are Baptist but not by name

If they play that violin like a fiddle...
We only have two... 10:45 am and 6pm. I have not been able to go because have to take care of sick wife but you can call in and hear the service... God bless them for providing that.
I actually prefer acapella
I like all kinds of music. Believe it or not, I even listen to Classical. A Capella puts me to sleep, but I like it. My preferred music in church is ,ad Peter Furler calls it, "Faster and Louder."
I led our Old Line Baptist Church in acapella songs for over 40 years and then I married my second wife and her church was a huge pipe organ an a full blown orchestra... Talk about culture shock

We had a Baptist Church near us close. It is now a Hispanic church and it doesn't real have a name on the building. It just has some Spanish words on a sign. That might be the name not sure.

The St. John Valley in northern Maine is 95%+ of French ancestry and at least that proportion RC. The one "English" (Scotch-Irish) settlement, the town of Allagash, has had a Baptist church for a century or more. When converted RCs established a little church in St. John Plantation, perhaps 60-70 years ago, they were well aware that the vast majority of SJ-Valley folk wanted nothing to do with the upriver "infidels" of Allagash or their church. Thus the new work was named St. John Bible Church though its doctrine and practice was/is thoroughly baptistic. That little church, still little in numbers, has been used by God to plant at least 3 other Bible Churches, all in communities far larger (like Fort Kent and Madawaska) than its village of perhaps 300.

I posted the following thread not too long and most people on this forum disagreed what our church decided to do:
Not too long ago my church decided to change the name of the church for several reasons (I will mention those reasons). We went from Grace Missionary Baptist Church to New City Church. Because we took the name 'Baptist" out of our name, many of our brethren from other sister churches have given us a hard time because of it. A pastor even accused us of not being Baptist because we took the name "Baptist" out of our name.
Reasons why we changed our name:
1. There were too many churches around us with the name "Grace" and we were being confused for another church.
2. Our name was too long and it was hard for people to remember our name when we evangelized.
3. There are some Bapticostal churches around us with the name "Missionary" in it and we didn't want to be confused with that denomination.
4. My church wanted a simpler and basic name so that people can remember us easier.
5. We chose "New City" after the New Jerusalem where we will live with God in eternity. Our slogan is "New Life leads to New City."
Reasons why we decided to not leave "Baptist" in our name:
1. Most unchurched people do not know what a "Baptist" is and may not even know if we are a "Christian" church (I had a situation when someone asked me if we were Christians). So we didn't want people to not come to our church just because our name has "Baptist" in it.
2. Most Baptists are already in a Baptist church so we want to promote ourselves as a Christian church. We are not looking for Baptists to join our church (though they are welcomed of course), we are looking for the unchurched since most of our city does not go to any church.
3. We do not have to have the name "Baptist" in our name to be Baptist, so our church didn't have a problem with removing "Baptist."
4. Jesus never gave His church a name so we felt comfortable with making a change to our name.
We are still Baptist. Our doctrine has not changed and it will not change!

"A number of churches in this area have taken Baptist out of their name, most becoming Community Churches - nondescript of doctrine. (Perhaps the new name conveys the lack of doctrine being preached.)
From my research, I found that although the name Baptist is removed, the affiliation with the founding Baptist organization remains.
Someone is practicing deception and I suspect many walking through the Community Church doors are being deceived."
Do the Baptist Churches that have removed Baptist from their names still send financial support to the organizations that founded them (NBA, CBS, SBA, etc.)? If so, perhaps the unsuspecting contributor might, rightfully, feel deceived.
Why not stand by the Biblical convictions you believe, identify your affiliation, and trust the Holy Spirit bless your efforts to spread the Gospel.

I was really impressed with this post. I didn't say it at the beginning of this post but I was wanting to change the name of our church and do a reset because of many reasons and the folks in the church were mostly older folks and they didn't want change. Two weeks after I left the church they closed the doors. It is on their hands I tried my best to get the church back on track.

The church I mentioned in a previous post that didn't want to change had another church in our association that changed their name to a non Baptist name and then they left our association and now are non denominational. This could be a reason they but up such a big fight. But in the end the old way didn't work either.
