CJ John Roberts initially sided with the 4 conservatives

Chief Justice John Roberts initially sided with the Supreme Court's four conservative justices to strike down the heart of President Obama's health care reform law, the Affordable Care Act, but later changed his position and formed an alliance with liberals to uphold the bulk of the law, according to two sources with specific knowledge of the deliberations.

Roberts then withstood a month-long, desperate campaign to bring him back to his original position, the sources said. Ironically, Justice Anthony Kennedy - believed by many conservatives to be the justice most likely to defect and vote for the law - led the effort to try to bring Roberts back to the fold.

Roberts was bought. There is no other explanation.

Sure about that; unless you might consider a threat to him/loved ones as "buying him off"!
Not saying that was the scenario, BUT, you must take into account that we are dealing with "CHICAGO POLITICS" in all of this.
(Methinks Dillinger would be very proud of todays WH!)

When Roberts was confirmed, his net worth was over $6 million dollars, so "buying him off" doesn't seem logical.

According to a 16-page financial disclosure form Roberts submitted to the Senate Judiciary Committee prior to his Supreme Court confirmation hearings, his net worth was more than $6 million, including $1.6 million in stock holdings. At the time Roberts left private practice to join the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals in 2003, he took a pay cut from $1 million a year to $171,800; as Chief Justice his salary is $217,400. Roberts also holds a one-eighth interest in a cottage in Knocklong, an Irish village in County Limerick. His wife's family descend from Charleville, County Cork, County Kerry, and County Fermanagh in Ireland.

In August 2010, Roberts sold his stock in Pfizer, which allows him to participate in two pending cases involving the pharmaceutical maker. Justices are required to recuse themselves in cases in which they own stock of a party.[57]

He certainly has stumped the conservative world, so sad. But there is only 1 logical reason IMHO that this happened, threats....

It has been done before.

I couldn't agree more. It gets more bizarre each time I log on.

Not as bizarre as our freedoms being chipped away at nearly weekly by this administration. :tear:

Maybe we should start a thread about what liberties have been nullified in the last 3-1/2 years. It would require some research, but most people would probably be appalled at the results.

He was definitely threatened. Many of them were veiled public threats implying dire consequences made by politicians, including the president.
