In a thread about infant damnation, I mentioned this verse supporting the concept of infant salvation
Romans 4
5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, 6 just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works:
7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered;
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.”
And a poster responded that imputation was only speaking of adult MEN, not infants.
That an infant could not have righteousness imputed to them as they are not men.
Well, that idea bothered me. Like what about adult women? Women are not men. So following the argument that was made, women can not have righteousness imputed to them by their faith or any other kind of person either, only adult males can have imputed righteousness....
Maybe you understand how absurd that is., maybe you don't.
If your going to read the scripture this way, you know nothing.
So if we can now include adult women, what about young people, kids, children or even infants?
Can God not impute to them their sin? Of course.
The Man here is not referring to males over a certain age, it is talking about MANKIND.
Example 'man' is mankind, and includes males and females., all mankind is included and any born of them.
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Genesis 1:27
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
In order for ANY to have righteousness imputed to their account, they must have faith,
9 Does this blessedness then come upon the circumcised only, or upon the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness. 10 How then was it accounted? While he was circumcised, or uncircumcised? Not while circumcised, but while uncircumcised.
Can an infant or young child have faith? Yes they can, do you know their mind, what God has revealed to them? No you do not.
Matthew 18
2 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.
Jesus Warns of Offenses
6 “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!
