Here is a crazy quote from a news story about thousands of students who left school today to protest:

"If we don't leave school today, half of the school who don't have papers will have to leave soon if this law passes, and they won't come back, ever," shouted Huntington Park High School student Anita Benitez.

Well, probably the majority of Hispanics who came here legally and went through the hoops to do so, aren't out in large numbers supporting the illegals. What our lawmakers fail to realize (being as they don't live in the REAL world), is a lot of illegal aliens are paid under the table (not even meeting the Federal Minium Wage requirements) and DON'T contribute to Social Security or the tax base. In fact, a lot of them will live 20-30 in a two-bedroom apartment (against zoning laws) and electronically transfer funds to Mexico. I have friends who manage apartment complexes and it is really difficult to kick them out and keep on top of how many are living in each apartment. Dangerous work, actually. And that isn't even addressing the crime issue or the burden on our public schools and health care system.

Not very impartial here...I have had three family members who were involved in accidents with "undocumented workers," (all three times the illegal immigrants were at fault). All three had no insurance, no license, and no registration. None were arrested.

I'm in favor of hitting the point of demand....throw the BOOK at those who employ illegals. Huge fines and possible jail time.

It seems that, for some, a legal resident can get into more trouble by trespassing on private property - even for "harmless" reasons - than an illegal immigrant can by coming into this country illegally.

Every person who's here in the country illegally needs to be removed from this country else there's no point in having laws against it nor calling it "illegal". Being here for a long time doesn't excuse it. Being here and doing some productive work doesn't excuse it. Needing a better opportunity doesn't excuse it. Filling some business need of legal resisdents doesn't excuse it nor them who provide it.

A person who wants to immigrate into this country needs to request permission to do so through the proper channels and, subject to approval - all according to law, they should be admitted and given an opportunity to receive the benefit of our freedom and to contribute to its sustainment. We need not to forget our own origins. Then, after suitable time, and due process they should be able to petition for citizenship.

Any person that falls into our hands, for whatever reason including as an illegal immigrant, and is in need of basic emergency care should be provided such care regardless of their status. We do no less for enemy prisoners of war! But, once the basic emergency is treated - not long term treatment, subsistence, education, etc. - they should be dealt with according to the law.

Hillary doesn't exactly have a reputation as a strong "law and order" type. [IMG]
