CNN flashes X over VP face - what's going on?

Hmmm... Thank you for reply. One straw does not break a camels back ('less it's a very big straw!), but let the straw pile up and ....

But inane and trivial conversations ahve their place. I enjoy them from time to time. But I don't think that applies here.
Are you saying that this is an inane and trivial conversation, and has no place here, or that you don't enjoy this particular inane and trivial conversation?

I am not saying that this is an inane and trivial conversation. I am saying that they have their place, and I enjoy them from time to time, but this is not one of those conversations (yet).

My only point here was that the X was a much lesser deal than the rhetoric spewed forth. Therefore, we should be much more upset about the rhetoric than about the X.

But, PL, the evil that is spewed is overt evil. Beware of the subliminal covert kind. That is the point about the X. What else is being subliminally propogated over the airwaves, movie theatres, TV that we aren't even aware of? Aren't hidden dangers and the power of subliminal suggestion more harmful than those we can easily identify? Isn't it called mind control? Someone has to stand up and call CNN to account, don't they? The "glitch" explanation seems suspect. If they get by with this, what will they do next?

Well, I'll tell you why it may be worse. CNN is seen all over the world by our friends AND enemies. A subtle X over the VP's face could subliminally suggest that he needs eliminated.</font>[/QUOTE]LE,

There is no real proof that this was either on purpose or any subliminal message that says anything like what you wish to suggest it does. If it is a matter of respect for the office and not portraying a bad image of our leaders to the world, then I suggest you might want to consider the very negative way in which our nation's leaders are portrayed right here on this very board to an international audience as well.

I am not sure why...but I really think you are trying to make a really big deal out of something that is either an example of freedom of speech or is simply a glitch.

LE, your point would be more valid if the "x" were intentional. It wasn't. It was a stupid error. Stupid errors on live broadcasts happen all the time. It's the nature of live TV.

I agree with PL here. It's much ado about nothing. Certainly a much lesser deal than the rhetoric spewed forth afterwards.

This is typical of the Hal Lyndsey pre-mill there's a demon under every rock mindset. You know, I am pretty sure there is a grand illuminate NWO conspiracy behind the fact that my two year old keeps begging for more VeggieTales. He was brainwashed by some anti-Christ, led by the Skull and Bones leaders of the world who control the media in a grand scheme to brainwash us into a NWO.

And unanswered and uncorrected. We are laboring under this mistaken notion that an idea's validity is determined by its expressibility. Some seem to believe that if an idea can be expressed, it deserves air time. That is pure, unadulterated foolishness.

I doubt the danger of this supposed subliminal stuff. It is a long standing conspiracy that has never managed to get its feet under itself with most. In this case, the X obviously wasn't too sumblinimal since it was noticed. Let's worry about the real stuff.

That this occured when an image of our vice president was on the on-air screen raises my intrest a great deal. If a person could have directed the equipment to put the X up on the on-air screen, then let CNN say so and let's find out if that happened. And, if it did happen that way, let's find out why. If it was an equipment glitch, then let's find out why. Also, IF it really was a glitch, it should occur again sometime. This piece of equipment can be taken out of service and be brought into the "shop" for inspection. The hardware and software can be reviewed and scrutinized for possible causes and corrective action can be taken so this doesn't happen again. CNN and other broadcasters should want that assurance, shouldn't they? I believe that CNN should be made to show that this piece of equipment actually had a problem to prove their assertion of there being a "glitch". If they do not, or say that they will not because they feel that they don't have to prove anything to anybody, then that makes their assertion of a glitch even more suspect. I think that it's finally time for CNN to put up or shut up. I think that we have the right to demand this, what with their supposed to acting in the public intrest by broadcasting on the public airwaves as their license states.
I agree.

Then, as a long-time, highly experienced, industrial electronics repair technician, now software engineer, you would also acknowlege that glitches on live TV happen all the time, and that this is the nature of live TV. If you look very closely at the image, you'll notice that the X is what's known as a placeholder. That is, a marker for the location of the next aired graphic. In this case, the next aired graphic was the CNN logo, and the network has already acknowleged that a logo-incorporated switch from Cheney to anchor was about to occur. The placeholder appeared for 1/30th of a second (if you include the fade of the placeholder on the next image, then the total time it was visible was 1/15th of a second).

C'mon folks, 1/30th of a second. Most viewers watching the broadcast didn't even notice it.

I just noticed something else of great concern. Look at the page closely, and notice the word in teh very center (the place of greatest impact) at the bottom of the screen (the bottom of course is the foundation of everything). The word is "restrictions." These people are slyly telling us that Cheney should be placed on restrictions.

How shameful. Can we get an investigation into that?

<a href="http://drudgereport.com/flash5cnc.htm" target="_blank">That is absolutely correct. As it goes. So, we're getting it fixed, i hope?

Yes, much like you have to reboot your computer from time to time, we're going to reboot our computer from time to time to make sure it doesn't happen again.

This is typical of the Hal Lyndsey pre-mill there's a demon under every rock mindset.
Ephesians 6:[11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
[12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
[13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

If you don't believe in spiritual warfare, Joseph, then I've no doubt anything I have to say won't convince you. Evil is a very real force in our fallen world.

Anyone who equates this occurrance on CNN as some sort of scriptural "evil force" qualifies as being a loon, not to mention, being a perverter of scripture. No way around that.

I'm sure even LE would agree.

I believe in spiritual warfare, LE. That, however, has nothing to do with the typical Hal Lyndsey pre-mill there's a demon under every rock mindset. :D
