Here’s a quiz for you folks in the media: What happens if you’re out doing “man on the street” interviews but none of the men on the street fit your “narrative”?
If you’re CNN, you stop interviewing them.

It has been remarkable to watch the last few days as America’s self-styled “most trusted news network” has sent out teams of reporters to various areas of Ferguson, Mo., ostensibly to cover the protests there. While their cameramen are watching cars on fire and stores being looted, the reporters ramble on about how “most people here” are “peaceful protesters.”

Where are these peaceful protesters? The reporters can’t seem to find any. Instead, they turn to outside experts and some carefully vetted religious leaders to talk about “the real message” of the protests.

I am having trouble understanding the real message of the protests. To my mind they are protesting that a bully, strong-arm robber tried to murder a family man and got hoisted by his own petard and they want to finish the job of murdering a policeman.

People in Ferguson would be smart to give their property back to the mortgage company and move out. They can say that Gov. Nixon refused to protect them from arsonists and looters, egged on by CNN.

It is an opportunity to blame problems in the black community on white people.

I think it is time for the communities to hire race appropriate cops to serve race appropriate calls. That will END the race card issues when a cop has to protect an innocent bystander or themselves.

What's a race appropriate cop?

Brother, YOU are the biggest bigot and race baiter on this board. At times it is like having our very own Al Sharpton going under the pseudonym of Zaac!

Man, I've told you not to refer to me as your Brother and then turn around and spit in my face. You can save that fakeness for some of your fake friends.

Angry little man, aren't you! You are a man? I mean, if you don't want me to call you brother, that leaves only two other options. :flower:

One of the "concerns" is the lack of blacks on the Fergerson police force.

Why! do black not apply in sufficient number, do they not qualify, do they choose not to stay -

Lets find out WHY? A police force needs X amount of officers. Should a certain % be required be minorities?

They should hire the best qualified candidates, regardless of race. Always.

I have not heard one report of protesters complaining of this. The biggest complaint I have heard is that there is an extra heavy police presence in their neighborhoods. They call this heavy handed.

Problem is those neighborhoods are where the most crime occurs.

Didn't someone list the supposed reasons a while back? I don't think there should be a certain percentage that has to be reached. But this is just a common sense type thing.

The population is 70% black. But there are 50 white officers and 3 black officers.

From a common sense perspective, that's just borderline crazy. Those numbers would make EVERYTHING look racial.

When darn near every police officer is white, I would expect everybody in that city to cry race about everything. I remember when the police officers actually lived in the communities that they policed.

i just don't believe that in metro-St. Louis, you couldn't find more than 3 black people willing to be officers in Ferguson.

The only issue with this is that those in the majority in the police department have been the ones setting the qualifications.

This is one of the reasons Affirmative Action came about. The excuse had been used for decades that we hire the best qualified candidates. Well when your qualifying standards disproportionately eliminates or limits the participation of protected groups, it's discriminatory and illegal.

Which is one of the reasons I think the DOJ still needs to be looking into the hiring practices of the Ferguson Police Department and perhaps all of Ferguson.
