What are some phrases or words used in your area that seem to be typical of only your area?

Here in the south, there are hose pipes connected to spigots so you can water your gardens.

Also, when I get ill with you, I do not have a cold...

Soda is something you cook with.

Coke is a brand name of pop.

It is pop now and forever and don't even try to argue

Although I do accept "Carbonated beverage" as a techical term.

From the land of my birth,(CT) we pa'k ah ca's in the garahge. I've been known to miss a few "ahs" here and there.

I live on the cawna of Dorothy and Albert.

We also say bu-on instead of button, and mu-on instead of mutton.

I wear sneakers, not tennis shoes.

Up here it's "eh?", as in "Pretty nice morning, eh?" (It's pronounced "ay"--long "a" sound).

Where I grew up (being the lovely but tiny state of Delaware), the old folks would say things like " 'mong you youngun's..."; "We're going out to do the dealing now," and so on. (By the way, dealing would be what we call shopping nowadays.)
