That is what I mentioned to Reynolds on a thread a month or two ago LEOs are trained to respond when they arrive on the scene after the columbine disaster. In my opinion, they wanted the slaughter to happen, being as they restrained parents from going in, and tried to restrain the border agents that ended up ending the situation from entering. It seems to me that when the dems are back in power mass shootings go up.

If there was one, it was a "active shooter" event, and they choose not to risk their lives to save the kids. I saw where a LEO with a rifle had the gunman in his sights outside the school but was asking for permission to shoot. Why? He had already fired on people and was about to enter the school. Was a policy in place they couldn’t shoot without permission?

Yeah, the story seems be evolve and evolve. And since law enforcement officers can be held accountable for excessive force, they need to know when they are allowed to make the decision to use deadly force.

LEO's are trained prior these events to know when. They go through extensive training in school and then ongoing training. They are not required to ask to need to know. Further, if you take a shot and a supervisor told you you have permission it does not relieve you from the liability for a wrong shot.

The amount of training LEO’s receive varies widely according to jurisdiction. Additionally, every jurisdiction can have their own rules of engagement. That may include a requirement for supervisor approval for a “sniper” type shot.

It would be interesting to know what type of training these officers had and what rules for lethal force were in place.

How often training occurs after LEO school varies but all LEO's are trained sufficiently. I would be interested to know of a jurisdiction that requires approval during an active shooter event. All of those LEO's should resign. I have never heard of it.

I agree. I simply can’t imagine being in that hallway, hearing the gunshots and not saying, “let’s roll”! You have to risk everything for those kids.
