Van,
I think that we may have to agree to disagree on this Brother. I enjoyed the dialogue though!

HankD,

I definitely agree that we are called to suffer for His sake.

Indeed.
Acts 5:41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

Hi Called by Grace, I agree John 3:16-21 has in view "coming to put our trust in Jesus."

But here is an example (IMO) of the other usage.
(A loose translation of John 6:37)

All that the Father gives to Me,
will arrive within Me,
and the one transferred to Me,
I will not cast out.

And note no matter what translation you use, in order to not be cast out, the person has to have been put in by being given by the Father.
But the Father leads them because the condition of their heart is ready because of the working of the Holy Spirit.

Hi Ran the Man,

I am not sure if you are addressing coming mentally to Jesus, or coming spiritually (being transferred into) Jesus.

I am guessing you are pushing some form of "enabling" grace.

We hear the gospel message through the work of indwelt witnesses, and through the inspired writers of the NT. And that message is the power of God for salvation and is the result of the workings of the Holy Spirit.

Oh, you and I are on the same page my brother. I'm totally anti Calvinist.
