Obama blasts Trumps deportation force: http://thehill.com/policy/national-security/260007-obama-blasts-trumps-deportation-force-plan

While a lot is being made about this latest Trump idea, how is the deportation force any different than the department ICE? This group is supposed to be deporting illegals. I just see Trump giving them back the teeth Obama yanked from their mouths, and returning the spine he tore from their back.

What are your thoughts on his plan to send our illegal visitors packing?

How are you going to feel when you're walking down the street minding your business and you're stopped and asked for your "papers"? Can you prove you are a legal resident? I don't carry my passport when I go out to the store.

Trump brought up Eisenhower's deportation scheme of 1954, "Operation Wetback" (yes, it was called that 60 years ago) in the debate on Tuesday night. Trump made it sound like Ike was a "nice guy" for doing this. Trump totally ignored the logistics of Ike's action--most of the illegals were migrant workers that lived in worker camps, shacks and tent cities, so rounding them up wasn't too problematic. They even shaved the heads of those immigrants that had been previously deported yet came back as a mark of shame.

Nowadays, the immigrants are not simply males living in tent cities on the outskirts of farms, they are entrenched in communities, frequently have spouses and children. Trump's Deportation Force would need to go door to door acting on tips from other people in order to find these illegals. Many of these families have children that are US citizens by birth. I see lots of problems with Trump's idea. As Squire said, do we want to live in a society where a government agent can stop you and demand to see your papers?

There is nothing in the op about race. However, in the same vein as your fallacious post no one is surprised you posted an absurd meme making light of his op.

So, Trump's Deportation Force will be out scouring neighborhoods looking for Caucasian illegals, is that about right?

Most of the illegal immigrants are white. Being latino is an ethnicity, not a race. (At least according to the government surveys I've seen.)

LOL, there's a lot more than 11 millions, and they're not all Mexicans or other Central Americans (Seattle is full of illegals from Russia), but the choice of amnesty v. mass deportation is a false one. You could stop sanctuary citizens, establish e-verify and track the expired legal visas a little better.

That being said, I didn't think Trump's reference to Ike's Operation Wetback was very good - OW was encouraged by the Mexican government, because they wanted the workers to stay there and work, but that was then - now they love it, because they get rid of their most useless people and the others send literally billions home to Mehico. Trump didn't mention this, but "round 'em up from door to door" sounds more like what FDR did to the Americans of Japanese descent last century.

Though I don't necessarily disagree with you, the bottom line is that we simply do not have the money to keep these immigrants here (especially the illegal ones), nor do we have the money to deport them.

Meanwhile, we are bleeding to death fiscally as a nation.

Start deporting them and the word will get out and they will start leaving on their own. Cut the money and the benefits off and they will go home on their own.
