    May God bless the service
of Sister Dianetavegia. May God lead her
in how she might serve Him best. May all of
God's best blessings be for Sister dianetavegia,
her family, and her ministry as she begins
this new field of service. May all this be
granted so that we might give all the more
honor and glory unto our blessed Lord
and Savior: Messiah Jesus. Amen. [IMG]

    Hi Sheila and Ed!

Katie: I typed in flan on Google and came up with over 20 pages of recipes. They use EVERYTHING flan. Fruits, vegetables, meat, custard....Name it, they have the recipe for it. I have never eaten one nor made one, but I love custard so I am going to try! [IMG]

Blackbird: Have fun with the youth this week, drive safely, and hurry back! [IMG]

Blackbird, I'd like some stock in your company. I don't have any money to invest but I'll sure help you get the word out.

    Have a safe trip!

I love flan at a small local Mexican place. Asked why THEIRS tastes so much sweeter and richer than ours (other than I have to use skim milk).

They said it was the RUM.

Good afternoon, All! I LOVE flan [IMG] ...the custard style, with a caramel sauce. That's the only kind I've ever had. Didn't realize in some places it was a type of pastry! I learn new things here every day!!

Really, really hot here, and will be that was for several days. The weather report is "high 97, low 74" for the next 5 days. Problem here is when it's 97, the heat index is over 100...yesterday the head index was 105. I have some plants outside and I must remember to water them in the morning...and at night.

We had another child die yesterday from being left in a hot car. (That's the 2nd one in Ft. Worth in 2 weeks.) The first one was at a daycare and after a trip, the daycare workers didn't check the van and left a toddler in it. Yesterday, a 3 year old somehow got in the parent's van and nobody knew it. (The parents didn't get in the van at all that day.) Those types of tragedies seem so sad because they seem to unnecessary. So, now, there are all kinds of warnings and news flashes to "check to make sure you didn't leave kids in your car".

Well, on THAT uplifting note, I'm off to church! Our VBS starts tonight. We're expecting areound 500 kids to show up! Whew!

    Dr. Bob! RUM? LOL!

CJ., Wow, 500 kids is a LOT! And that's so awful about the children. I never even thought about a child climbing into a car and dying.

Saying a prayer for your VBS!

Diane, we have that problem here every summer. They say when it's so hot, the temperature in a car with the windows rolled up can climb to 120 within a matter of minutes.

Thanks for the VBS prayers! It's really fun...but it's a zoo with that many kids!!

We had two toddlers climb in a truck and lock the doors in our county. They couldn't get the doors unlocked...they smothered to death from the heat. How can you not miss your children for that long????

    Hi CJ! [IMG]

We just finished our VBS, we had around 400 kids and that was plenty! Ours ran from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, then we had 'graduation' on the Friday night it ended and invited all the parents and grandparents. The kids put on a show for them, it was really neat.

Sue, that's what I don't understand. The little girl yesterday was 3 years old. The parents didn't realize she was missing for over 2 hours. I can't imagine someone not noticing a 3 year old was not around for that long.

Sometimes, CJ, it's because they have so many kids that they aren't able to watch them all or are expecting the kids to watch the kids. I knew of one lady whose 2 year old climbed on the kitchen sink and scalded her legs and bottom with the water. The state took all 5 kids while they investigated. The parents expected the 8 year old to help babysit the younger ones.

Oh Sue... that's awful! I guess we should always lock our cars!

I can't either CJ. How could you even forget you left a child in a car for that long? I mean, where did they think the kid was? The parents here were not charged with anything. "Neglectful Homicide" came to my mind.

Diane: I keep my car doors locked ALL the time and it is sitting right in front of my house!

We see this kind of thing all the time, I hate it. Women have childrena dn expect their children toa ct like mothrs and watch thier kids for them. ANd 8 years old di not have a baby and should have no responsability for one, the mother had a child adn should be the one watching her own children. Too many times i've seen women have child after child, adn expect her other children to take care of them, leaving behind their on childhood to raise a lazy mothers children.
    gotta leave for church

I see that more and more too Katie, and you're right, it takes away the older children's childhood.

In the case in my county, however, these two toddlers had no siblings. [IMG]

I see it quite often here in the home school families where the mother has 4 or 5 children and the older girls (usually) are given so much to do. Where is their youth????

CJ, wasn't the kid in the van two kids at the daycare center? It may be a different case. It was the same day though, I remember because I've been trying to keep track of the number of kids killed and abused in foster homes and this was a foster parent who left two foster kids in the van at the daycare.
