Betty, that does seem like quite a bit of stuff to all be on one circuit, but, I have the lights of more than one room on a single circuit too. The plugs are on a different circuit, for the most part a one room to a circuit.

However, when a breaker won't reset either the breaker is blown or you have a short somewhere. Have you replaced a light fixture lately? Is there another heavy item drawing power from the same circuit as the freezer (usually a light fixture doesn't draw all that much, this would be a computer or the fridge or something like that) ? Check all your power cords too and any exposed wiring you might have.

Two scary/funny stories from this house:

When we were redoing the bathroom this summer we got down to changing out the lightfixture. Got the new one up and it wasn't quite tight enough to wall. It was mounted on a screw bolt which screw into the bracket and then the cover know screw onto the bolt. So T turns the bolt further into the bracket so the fixture could sit tight to the wall. We have more than enough loose light fixtures in this crazy house.

I asked him when he was turning the bolt, if there were any wires in the way and he said no. Uh huh, famous last words. Couple of days later, with no warning, the breaker flips. We knew the problem had to come from the new light fixture and even though it tested out okay we replaced it. Had to pull all the wires out of the box to put in the new fixture and then we found the problem. When T tightened the bolt he had caught a wire behind it. It took several days for the bolt to penetrate the plastic sheathing on the wire and short out the circuit. The cut spot wasn't apparent until we pulled all the wires out and examined them closely.

The other time we had this problem was the fault of the crazy dog in my avatar. When we bought the house someone had put up a pole light at the end of the upper deck. A thunderstorm came through and blew something into the light and destroyed it. We decided it didn't need to be there anyway, took it down, weatherproofed the wiring that was left with plans to redo the deck lighting eventually. Mishka found it and she discovered that if she pulled on the cap she could pull more wire out of the conduit(something we didn't think could happen.

Got home that evening and couldn't figure out why none of the outside lighting would work. Outside plugs were dead too. Crazy dog had not only pulled out the wiring, but she had chewed into it too. She's lucky it was a grounded circuit.

    I gotta go....

The reason a freezer or even a regrigerator must be on its own circuit is the heavy draw when either appliance starts up...it will use up close to all the 15 amps of the breaker. Some people replace it with a 20 amp breaker, but that is dangerous. Lighting circuits won't bother it, but a bathroom or bedroom suggests the possible use of a hairdryer.......whammo! I always use two breakers in a living room, one in each bathroom, refrigerator, freezer and washer-dryer are all on separate circuits......of course, the washer-dryer is on 220 anyway.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Pray for travelers. It is really bad out there all across OK and other states.

The ice storm here has now turned to heavy snow. We may get more than a foot. The weather is talking about 40 mph winds and big drifts on the interstate.

    School already cancelled again tomorrow.

    Hi folks,

Don't know how (or when) the cold front will affect us. It got up to 81 today!!! 73 and rain forecasted for tomorrow.

I'm looking at a weather thing that says it's 19 and snowing in the Oklahoma City area. BBRRR! That's where my folks are.
Ma and Pa just got some new windows, wonder if they're helping?

We have ice so thick we can't even see out of our windows! It is still sleeting and freezing. I expect power outages tonight from downed power lines.

We're expecting over a foot of snow on top if this ice with 20-30mph winds. When it starts snowing, the visability will be zero. The ground is white, but it is from sleet - not snow - yet...

I am praying for anyone who has to be out driving in this. It looks like it is hitting just about everyplace in the midwest and up north.

I've had my hot cocoa and I'm going to bed!

    Pleasant dreams all,

    Good morning all,

We lost power sometime during the night because all the clocks are blinking, and it is cold in the house, but it is back on now.

It is snowing very heavily and we are having 30-40mph winds. I am not budging out of the house today! I'm not sure how cold it is - the weather channel is showing "no report" but the high is going to be 28º today! We have blizzard conditions and are being warned not to drive since we have a sheet of ice under all this snow.

Looks like IL, MI, and WI are really in for it today, weatherwise.

Better stay inside and bake, Rob, that's what Brent and I will be doing...

Time for some nice hot coffee.

Yikes! Keep safe everyone!! We have 62 degrees here right now but are awaiting a Nor'Easter that is coming at high tide so it should be interesting. We have our small group tonight out on the neck - we'll see if the road washes out or not.....

I'm off to church to help decorate then have homeschool group. I have a stew in the crockpot so we're all set for dinner tonight.

Enjoy the snow all those who have it! I can't wait for our first snowfall. :D

    ARRGHHHHH!!!! It's the Abominable Snow-Cook.

    Good Evening Everybody,

Thank you dear, sister Sue, I would have cooked, and baked today, but we lost power a little after midnight and just got it back about 60 minutes ago.

The snow is supposed to start tonight, and we could get 10"-12" of snow.

Tonight is Dilled Pot Roast in the crockpot. I put the time to good use at least.I've been converting some of my recipes for crockpots. I posted some of the dishes in the "What's for Dinner?" thread. If there is interest, I'll post the recipes.

Praying that the power doesn't go off again.

    Hey everyone!

Can't complain about the weather here. As usual, it didn't get or hasn't gotten nearly as cold as the weather folks said. It was in the 40's all day but the sun was shining and all that was needed were long sleeves and a sweater.

So how is everyone doing this evening? We haven't heard from Thankful today?

    Have I posted here to-day? I can't remember........did I check? Well, yes I did, but I forgot whether I saw a post or not........anyway, Hi!

It rained like all get out to-day and then turned to ice drops and it is cold as all get out. How cold is it? Well, I spilled a glass of water and it refused to flow out...it was frozen before leaving the glass.........hehehehe... When the dogs line up to go out and refuse to go when the door opens, you know it is cold.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Good morning all,

It is a very cold 12 degrees this morning. That is the actual temperature. I'm not up to looking at what the wind chill factor is yet!

It's not going to get above freezing all next week. This ice isn't going to melt anytime soon! My icicle lights, hanging from the eaves, are incased in REAL icicles and my lighted nativity figures all look like blocks of ice.

The neighbor has a stand of tall, thin, trees. The wind blew them all sideways and the ice froze them that way. It looks like they're having a bad 'hair day'.

My doorbell is iced over as are my car doors and mailbox. The ice on my windshield is about an inch thick and, since it is parked curbside, the snowplow has it blocked in real good.

This is another 'stay inside and keep warm' day!

Time for a cup of HOT coffee. Just looking outside makes me shiver!

    CYAL,

Well, we finally got "cold" - it's 46 degrees this morning which is a big difference since it was 58 when I went to bed last night!

We're leaving in a little bit to go see Happy Feet for free with the kids (AND they provide bagels and juice) and the girls are off to play practice all day. If you guys would pray for the girls and everyone else involved in the play - It has a very clear gospel message and we have numerous people who come to the Lord at the play and it's a great "invite" kind of thing for unsaved neighbors and friends. Pray that the Lord uses this to reach the unsaved. Thanks!

    Good morning everyone!

It's bright and cold here today. It would be great for working outside, but we may end up with company after Jenna's baptism tomorrow evening so, I'm going to be working inside today.

Have I mentioned Jenna's getting baptized tomorrow night? :D She's been asking serious questions and learning for about 6 months or so and the other Wednesday night she accepted Christ as her Savior while having a discussion with one of our pastors. She is so thrilled that she has invited everyone she knows to come see her be baptized. Talk about a public confession of faith! :)

While I am cleaning, T is going to be putting down the new flooring in Cassie's room. Cass can't wait to have it finished and frankly neither can I! She's been sharing Jenna's room and Jenna's room is barely big enough for Jenna! It is such a wreck down there! The upstairs is not much better cause Cassie's mattress is leaned up againt the balconey wall and her box springs is in the bathroom! Poor Chris has this tiny trail to use to get to his room and he better watch out that that mattress doesn't fall on him as he passes!

I'll be in and out of the Coffee House as I'm somewhat under the weather and will have to rest now and again. (frustrating, as I have lots I'd like to get done today, besides cleaning!)

Anyone heard from Thankful or Karen? Sue, I hope your power stays on!

Ya'll have a good day. Enjoy the coffee! I made a fresh pot since I finished off the last one.

    See ya!

    Good morning all,

Cindi: Our power went out, but just briefly. Others were not so fortunate, they had to sleep in shelters because it took 24/48 hours to get their power back on.

One grocery store was operating without heat or ANY electricity! They were handing out flashlights to people as they came in the door and figuring up the bill with a paper and pencil. They only opened so people could buy things that they didn't need electricity to fix.

It is 12ºF this morning. We're expecting a high of 20º this afternoon before plummeting back down to 6º tonight. We are still pretty much "iced in". [IMG]

I stayed up late last night and baked Date Swirl cookies. What a mess! After 3 dozen, I made the rest into thumbnail cookies with date filling or a gumdrop in the center.

I will not be going out in this weather, so I will be baking sugar cookies this morning. The dough has been in the fridge for a couple of days waiting for me...

I always turn the furnace down to 55ºF each night and turn it back up in the morning. It's still chilly in here so I believe I'll have some hot cocoa to warm me up.

    Have a blessed Lord's day!

We`ve got gales with 90mph gusts and hail/rain showers. As we live next to woodland, I hope we don`t get trees down.
