Good Morning Everybody,
Let me get this right Helen: You're married and have children and you're just celebrating your 14th birthday. Definitely sounds like a Leap Year Baby.
It is 18 degrees here right now headed for a high of 22. Sunday we're supposed to have a high of 3.
This morning is omlettes, sausage, and home fries. Enjoy.
After my chores I have to go into town to get supplies for the Super Bowl party on sunday. I can make the food and the dips, but I'm not very good at making crackers.
Time to get started.

Just a drive by post for today - I have to run to church to do yet MORE computer work (I have to say, I've been working my hand a LOT in the last 3 days - but it's just typing so it's good. I'm using the mouse in the other hand) and then we have our homeschool co-op this afternoon. Busy, busy, busy!! LOL!! Have a great day all and if anyone has snow, can you send some here? So far we've had only a coating and we normally get over 20 inches in a winter!! I need snow!!!!!

Good morning everyone!
Brr! It is even cold here! I have hope that the sun will come out soon though.
I have one last dress to work on and that is the one Cassie is wearing to her school beauty walk. She is having a blast with this. I've never really been into the whole pageant thing, but it seems to be a very girly thing to do. Of course if I don't get this dressed fixed she may have a "wardrobe malfunction" walking across the stage!
Then I have to get dressed and carry Jenna her sneakers. It was career day and she went dressed as a "business woman" complete with dress shoes. She can't play in gym without the sneakers and she's already called for me to bring them. I'd just hate for her to miss out on gym. <sarcasm>
Okay, I gotta get this dress fixed, see ya'll later!

It's FRIDAY! Yeah!
Well, Anna had her angiogram yesterday and Gina called us in the afternoon and it all went OK. That's a nasty thing to have to put a little girl through and we were praying for her. They will be back home today. I'm quite sure that Anna will be scheduled for open heart surgery sometime this year now. She has been through more in ten years than most people go through in a lifetime, and she remains bouncy, sparkly, and totally fun to be around. God bless her!
Kitchen floor is almost done in that one spot where the leak ruined it. Evidently the leak was from a slow drip in the wall plumbing which saturated the subfloor. But that part is fixed now and ready for the vinyl. We had to move the refrigerator and pull a cabinet to get to that part of the floor. No big deal except for Chris -- he is permanently hungry and we have to keep the fridge door locked -- and we do that by bungee cording it to the door on the matching freezer which is next to it. But now the fridge is across the room and watching Chris is a fulltime job for whomever is in the room with him now! It will be good to get the vinyl in and the fridge moved back.
The dining room is a different matter. There is a large, built-in planter connected to the dining room on the outside and evidently the metal pan has been leaking at the seams and the wall, floor, and subfloor are all saturated and black mold was under everything. So that part will be completely torn out and redone. Thank God at no cost to us, as it was the contractor's fault. At least he is being good about fixing his own mess!
So the workers will be back today in about five or ten minutes. I'm sitting here typing and keeping a watch out the window for the truck(s) coming down the lane.

After my ex walked out on us in 1991, and after my year of crying everyday, my oldest daughter told me that if I ever got wrinkles she would make sure they were grin wrinkles. She has kept her word. That leap year stuff was just part of it for her, and she played it to the hilt.

Good morning all,
It is a frigid 6º this morning and we are under a WINTER ADVISORY for tonight and tomorrow. It will be -1º tonight with windchills dipping from -15 to -20º until tomorrow afternoon! We are to stay in the single digits at night for the next 5 or 6 days.
I pray this cold snap kills off some of the germs that are making everyone sick!!! The hospitals here are having to put beds up, for patients, in the hallways. Doctor's offices are turning down appointments for 'well babies', saying if they're not sick, keep them home, because they will be sick when they leave the doctor's office!
It looks like I won't be going to church again tomorrow. :tear:
I am driving on 3 tires and a 'donut'. My tire went flat yesterday when I picked Brent up from school. I had to drive several blocks n the rim - praying I would not ruin it.
Hubby took the tire to Wal-Mart, where we bought it (it only has 6,000 miles on it) to get it repaired or replaced. They told him the belts on the inside of the tire were broken.
I'm not saying that is impossible, but I've never heard of it UNLESS the tire was defective to begin with. I certainly couldn't have done it! Anyway, we believe they owe us a new tire. Guess what? They don't have one in that size.
Hubby is going back out today with the warranty and requesting that they get a tire from another store. I told him to just ask for the manager right off the bat.
They don't want to be bothered because they are moving one block away today to a new SUPER Wal-Mart. If they don't get us a new tire, I will be driving on the donut, or not driving at all, until we can save up enough money for a new tire from some other store.
I have never really been happy with Wal-Mart because they have closed down too many stores in our town (forcing us to shop with them or drive out-of-town). I'm extremely displeased with them right now! Can ya tell??? :BangHead:
I think I need a cup of hot chocolate, and our morning devotional, to calm my nerves. :saint:

Brrr!! You guys have some nasty cold temps!! We're supposed to get them here in NY around Monday but I REALLY wish you'd send some snow along with them!!
Well, my "vacation" is over - time to go foodshopping. I had to check to be sure that our housing check came in - this is going to be a biggie!! Other than stopping in to pick up milk and BBQ chips (they were on sale and I NEEDED them), I haven't shopped since my surgery! With getting dinners, we really didn't need to pick up much more - we had a lot in the house already. What a blessing those meals were. So today will be laundry, cleaning and grocery shopping. Lauren also needs shoes so we'll go this afternoon for her and maybe we'll hit the new Wal-Mart too. We never had one before so I have to see what all the hype is. I'll also hit the clearance racks at Kohl's.
Tonight will be my first "real" dinner that I'll cook since the surgery. Almost 3 weeks - that's pretty good!! I'm going to bread and fry a ton of chicken cutlets - some for the freezer, some for dinner tonight and some for planned leftovers for lunches and such. They're so handy to have in the fridge since I can use them for a number of things.
My hand is doing really well now. The ONLY thing that bothers me - and I may call my doc about it - is that the incision is very dry and crispy (with the scabbing and such). What I WANT to do is to wash it and then put vitamin E oil on it to soften it because it's actually limiting the movement in my palm. I also want to get some arnica gel because I have a lot of bruising in the cup of the palm and in my arm near the wrist (where the doctor went under the skin to be sure the nerve was released - I can actually see how far he went). If I have to wait until Wednesday to do this I will but I'd much rather start treating this incision myself to heal it up properly!! I'm also definately going to ask for PT since I am nervous about what I can and can't do with it. I don't want to pop any scar tissue that's forming between the ligament ends - but then I want to use my hand to begin strengthening it. Atleast at PT I can find out my limits.

Hi Ann, I'm surprised you are not allowed to get it wet yet. I can imagine that is very uncomfortable. I'm glad you are going to check with your dr. about it.

The folks who are working on Barry's videos will be by this morning to preview what they have done so far on Christmas Star. We've also approved the template for the new web design done by a superb graphic artist, and that is exciting, too. Things are moving.
Barry has claimed for sometime that there was a flood on Mars (and on Venus) just like on earth. The major creation organizations pooh-poohed it (maybe because it was Barry who said it?), and finally have come around. Dr. Andrew Snelling, who is actually a friend of ours, just came out with a recent article in Acts and Facts (from ICR) talking about the water on Mars which was extruded. No one, of course, mentions Barry in connection with it. We don't get frustrated anymore; we simply expect it. But that sort of thing makes it more than doubly wonderful that there are so many others who are backing us in getting these videos out which will explain Barry's work. We have tried to do a lot of speaking and traveling, but jet lag is really wearing, and with our responsibilities here at home it just is getting too difficult.
I know that no one in this forum is probably interested in this, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. It's the biggest item in our lives right now -- his work!

Helen - That's so great!! It must be so fascinating to be doing what Barry is doing. We're studying Romans at church (VERY slowly) and Pastor taught a very little bit on evolution last week. He had said that he would do that in the sermon the previous week (giving people a heads-up of where he was heading) and I had a great video in the car - "Unlocking the Mysteries of Life" (I'm guessing you know about it - it's really good). I gave him the video and he decided that the church NEEDED to see this so last Sunday night we had a service just to do worship and watch the video. It was so great to see the video and just how awesome God's creation is and how it points to Him, and then enter into worship. The video was then shown to the junior high youth group on Wednesday and shown last night with the senior highs. It was very well received. So many Christians don't get good teaching on creation vs. evolution and don't understand the facts because they're only taught the "facts" of evolution. So many people came to me (they knew I was the origin of the video at our church) and thanked me because they NEVER were taught that those "facts" were in fact, not facts. LOL!! It was also neat to see these scientists - some of whom are not Christians - come to the conclusion that things are just too complex to have just happened - just come out of the primordal ooze. It's great to know that these teens, these adults, all these people who saw the video atleast understand that there ARE facts that point to God - that Romans 1:19-20 is really true.
Keep up the good work!! It is SO needed amongst the Christian community as well as the world.

thanks, Ann. That is an excellent video and we recommend it highly. Some of the men involved are friends of ours, as I worked with the Intelligent Design folks for awhile.
What's funny about Barry's work is that, of the various scientists I have worked with, his is the ONLY work that goes data first instead of theory first. He has the simple, firm faith that God has not lied in creation and that we can see where the data leads. The data leads straight toward the accuracy of Genesis and the reality of a very young creation. No need for dark matter or dark energy which have been invented to hold together a very old cosmos.
I'm going on too much....I'm extraordinarily proud of my husband's work and very proud to be associated with it.
However.....he uses a lot of Greek symbols in the math and I found out yesterday that in order to get his material up on the net so everyone can recognize the equations, I have to insert each equation as a jpeg, and that is going to take enormous time and I am kind of dreading it. But if it has to be done, it has to be done and that's that.
We are currently redoing his entire webpage. Within a few weeks we should have some of it up and running. The web address will still be the same but it will be much more professional and many areas will be more lay oriented.
Going on too much again.....I'll go spray the roses.....LOL

I've been busy all day so I came home to Maple-Glazed Pot Roast[in the crockpot], and made Warm Roasted Vegetable Salad, Orange-Pecan Squash Bake, and Shortcakes with Cinnamon Fruit. That should warm us up.
I brought the same dinner into the Coffeehouse for anybody who stopped by for a snack. Enjoy. :wavey:

Good morning all,
It is -4º right now with a windchill of -25º!!! I am praising God that there is no ice on the power lines to bring them down! We would be in a world of hurt here if that happened right now...
We are way below the average temperature of 31º for February. It feels like we're in a deep freeze. I hung blankets up over the two doorways leading to the sunporch and I forgot to bring a plant in that was out there. It froze to death last night!
We really need to get regular doors to put up. There used to be doors up, but the owner wanted them when we bought the house. They had stained glass windows. We never replaced them as we use the sunporch as another room, but there is no insulation or storm windows out there and we have 8 windows in that room.
I'm not even going to stick my head outdoors in this weather. I doubt my car would start anyway. The church bus will pick Brent up so he doesn't have to miss Sunday School and church.

Brrr, Sue!! That's bitter!! It's supposed to get cold today and very cold tomorrow but not THAT cold! Right now it's 21 and the high was right after midnight - should be around 16 by 3 PM. Tonight is single digits and tomorrow should top out at 12. But we're all snug and warm (as warm as this house can get in this weather), I have a crockpot with BBQ pork going for tonight and we'll start the fireplace right after church. Ahhhh!!!!!! I'm heading out to church in about 30 minutes - I just wanted to hop on and clean up my e-mail notifications. LOL!! I get into too many threads on different boards then get hit with tons of e-mails!!

We didn't try to make it to church this morning. I had my police scanner on and there were tons of accidents, and roads that had been drifted closed by blowing snow.

I made Waffles, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, hot Biscuits, and various fruit jellies, sausage gravy and biscuits. Enjoy.
The town the church is in is having a Men Who Cook Contest. Last year I made Roasted Salmon with Strawberry-Orange Salsa. I was nowhere in sight of a ribbon. This year I'm making Salmon with Tarragon Cream, Chicken Apricot Curry, and Passion Bowl.
Maybe now you Ladies will believe me whan I say I'm just a cook, not a chef.
Going to stay in and enjoy a fire in the fireplace, family and friends[ not always the same ] and watch the game.

Yeah!! I cornered my surgeon at church today and asked if I could put some vitamin E oil on my incision since it's so "crispy" and he said yes!! He then took a look at it and said that it's good enough for me to finally get it wet in the shower!! Yeah!!!!! No doing dishes yet (he actually DID say that it would get it too soaked - a shower was OK but soaking my hands was not) and that I can do just about everything I think I can except making a fist then bending the wrist forward. I can do one or the other but not both. I'm SOOO thrilled!! So I put the oil on just before and a LOT of the scab just rubbed off - and now it feels SO much less tight!!
Now I'm heading out with DD to hit up Payless and then we'll be back for the game.

Sunny and warm today -- the cloud cover is keeping the heat in a bit at nights but enough blue sky during the day to warm things up. THIS is the weather we came here for!
