Gayla: Stitches are usually left in for 10 days.

    Good morning all,

Woke up to a cloudy, muggy, rainy day. It is 65º with a high expected of 82º. It is supposed to rain for the next 5 days.

Brent and I drove to Springfield yesterday afternoon and picked out trim for the sun porch at Menard's. We brought it home in the trunk of the car with a red flag tied on the end. We will probably start putting it up today after we go to the Memorial services at the courthouse at 10:30.

    HAGD!

It looks like you'll be pretty busy for the next couple of months Lady Sue. Just don't over do yourself.

Have a blessed Memorial Day everyone!

My stitches were left in for 10 days - and then it was 10 days in a brace when needed then I was able to start therapy. The tingling is good - does it feel like pins and needles - like when your foot falls asleep and the feeling is coming back? I had that too - and my doctor (who's a good friend of ours) said that was an awesome thing - because that means that the nerve is waking up. I had the bruise in the palm of my hand for a LONG time - atleast a month - and the swelling in the fingers stayed for about as long too. I waited about 2 months to put my ring back on (I wear my mom's engagement ring on my right hand) and it was fine by then. I'm glad to hear that he's doing well. Make sure he keeps up moving his fingers - but not putting any pressure on it yet. Let that ligament heal up a bit before you start putting pressure on it. Even after 20 days, it was feeling REALLY weird to put any pressure on the hand because that ligament was still moving around. Tell him to not push it yet.

    Good morning all,

It is 68º, heading for a high of 88º. Rain is forecast for the rest of the week, starting tomorrow.

I got nothing done yesterday except cooking. I ended up having family over.

I need to buy a miter box this morning after I work the corner, then I will come home and get started on the trim.

Brent is feeling fine, so he will go on his field trip today at school. He is still taking his antibiotics. They haven't called from the doctors yet to give me the date for the appointment with the urologist for him.

Got to run. Hope all had a great day yesterday and an even greater day today!

    Good Morning Everyone!

Hey Sue, did the doc ask you about whether or not you've changed laundry detergents or soap lately (as long ago as a month). Chris has had a UTI in the past and while I think they did some sort of tests (can't remember just what) to make sure there wasn't an underlying physical problem, the end result was that I had changed soap and he had ignored the irritation it caused him until an actual infection got started from there. I'm very careful about changing the type of soaps and fabric softeners I use. If it's not a UTI, everyone itches if I make a change.

Was it as hard for everyone else to get up as it was for me, this morning? I got spoiled to sleeping in just 4 days! I was a sad person when the alarm went off a 5 this morning. Guess not as sad as T though, cause he had to go work!

I have 3 days to get Cass packed up for her cruise and 5 to get the rest of us packed for our vacation. We have plans to go to the beach with T's sister, but the stories of the rip currents up and down the Atlantic coast have about put me off. Hopefully, by the time we get there the currents will have settled down.

Today is sewing, going to the bank, sewing, sewing and smocking at church (probably sewing there too!). I got a bunch accomplished yesterday: 2 shirts, a pair of capris, a dress and a skirt remake. Today's agenda is another pair of capris (this one will take a bit more time), a shrug, and a blouse all for Cass. If I get that done there is another blouse and skirt waiting in the wings to get finished.

    Gonna be busy!

Wow, a busy day on tap for you for sure, MK!

Glad to hear your hubby is doing so well post-surgery, Gayla!

Thanks for sharing that darling pic of Miss Kitty, Sue! She's about the same size as Biscuits and Gravy. Hmm ... the urologist for Brent? Perhaps it will be as simple as a changed detergent. I hope so!

Thanks, Barnabas, for that lovely Memorial Day reminder!

A hot day on tap here. We haven't had time to open our backyard pool but hope to get to it soon.

Steve, Brandon and I (Brad stayed home to feed the animals) had a lovely weekend RVing in Pigeon Forge with my mom and brother. We enjoyed Dollywood on Sunday. I never get enough of that place! Here's a few pics from the trip ...

    Good morning all,
Sue:glad to hear Brent is doing better.
MK: sounds like a busy day-I had trouble getting up this morning too.
PJ: looks like you had lots of fun.
I am ready for Thursday when our rain is supposed to stop. I am tired of having a headache and having to explain to the three year old neice why she can't stay out all day. Her older brother is ready for it to stop too, he wants outside really badly as well. Dad's surgery is scheduled at 12 tommorrow. He is having a bad day today so looks like I will stay with him instead of going to town to help mom get her errands done. I had better go see what they decided. Y'all take care and have a blessed day.

Why thank you, Mr. Barnabas. Since I'm rough with sunglasses, I prefer the $1 cheapies sold at Dollar Tree!

Good morning everyone. Hope all here in the Coffee House is going well. I just had to stop by since it's been almost a week since I've been.

Sue, I know UTI's can come from changes in detergents. Vivian and I both had one when we changed from Tide to one of the store brands a few years ago. We ended up with another detergent that didn't have such bad affects on u s.

Well, it's supposed to be reaching back into the 90's here today. Viv and I tried to work on the riding mower on Memorial Day. We had to buy a new battery, but that didn't help. I've got to have the mower picked up this morning by the Bedford/Moore County Coop to have it fixed. They've got to help me get it started, sharpen the blade, balance the rack, etc. I don't know what the final cost is going to be, but, I know it's going to cost $40 pick up and delivery fees. I'm going to have to buy another pick-up truck by next summer. Vivian and I see furniture all of the time that we could pick up on the side of the road, in the trash, etc, that could easily be fixed and given away or sold. Anyhow, they're going to have the mower for 5-7 days.

We had some new neighbors move in in the final house to be sold in our little area. They are a nice younger African American couple. It's made some out here very angry. For me personally, I don't care. Some have tried to bring the hate mongering here, but, I've already let them know I don't go for that.

    Well, God bless y'all today.

    Good morning all,
PJ: I always buy the dollar sunglasses. That way if my neices or nephews tear them up before they wear out I don't have to invest a lot of money into another pair!
Dad has a diabetic ulcer on his foot. It is the same one that we have been dealing with for about a month. Anyway, they are going to go in and remove all the infected tissue, take out a bone spur and then also take a piece of the bone and check to see how much infection is there. We have already been told that amputating the toe is very likely. We are just praying that it doesn't become necessary to amputate his foot or leg. I had better go, the surgeon called yesterday afternoon and they moved the surgery up to 10:30 so we have to be at the hospital earlier. Y'all take care and have a blessed day!

    Good Morning Everyone!

Tony, it's sad that there are still folk out there who can't just let people be, based entirely on the color of their skin. We have two families of color living in our neighborhood and both have proved to be very good neighbors. One of the fathers is principal of one of our elementary schools and that school has won award after award.

My day's work has just increased. My poor neighbor came home from her weekend trip with a very bad back. I'll need to take her to the doc and before that pick up her poor puppy dog from boarding. Then my day of sewing, smocking and packing can begin. At least right now the only child that is awake is up at her house! :D

    I better get busy.

    Good morning all,

Brent is doing fine. I never change detergents. The doctor never did call back for an appointment with the urologist so I'm not going to worry about it. It may have been just a one time thing.

We had the Awards Banquet at school last night and Brent got several academic awards. I was impressed and he was surprised!

I'm still fighting with the trim on the sun porch. This house is SO not straight and I am having a very hard time getting the corners to match up.

Well, tomorrow at noon is Brent's last day at school and Monday morning is my last day of crossing at the public school. Hopefully, with Brent helping, we can get the sun porch finished.

    HAGD all!

You guys are so lucky to be done with school. We should finish our homeschooling by the end of next week but the girls are in school until June 22nd. Bleck!! There's a standardized test in NY for the different subjects and Nicole has to take earth science and math and Lauren needs to take chemistry and social studies. Once those are finished, they're done! It will be nice to be done for a few months.

I'm sitting at church right now waiting for the organizational meeting to start. It's a meeting with all the pastors and ministry heads to plan what's going on this week and in the weeks to follow. I go so that I can get the straight poop on what's going on so I can get the website fully updated without having to track people down. Once the meeting is over, I'll hang around till 12:30 then pick up Joanna from preschool and we'll head home for lunch. At 3:30, Jo has a dentist appointment then I pick up the girls from school right after that (they stay after now for the free extra help for the "Regents" - the standardized tests they need to take). Robby has baseball practice at 6, so dinner will be an easy salad with grilled chicken, greens, pears, blue cheese, craisins and a balsamic vinaigrette. Wednesday night stuff is all done at church (unless I want to take Spanish - then we're offering a class) so it will be a night home tonight. The "men" (DH and my 6 year old son) will be sleeping on the boat tonight. :) They like to do "guy" things together - it's so cute!

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

It is 82 and sunny here, headed for high near 90 today.

I've been in court for the last day and a half on the child abuse & neglect case. What a mess. I was hoping we could get thru everything without it turning nasty. I might as well have hoped to be handsome instead. The defendant's attorney tried his best to discredit my testimony [bringing up my breakdown, etc], but it's hard to discredit the truth. And a result of the hearing the Mother lost all parental rights to the baby. It's sad but it's in the best interest of the child.

Needless to say I'm exhausted, both emotionally and physically.

Hoping everybody here has a blessed day.

    Good afternoon all,
Just dropping in for a minute. I need a nap-the combination of a lack of sleep and sitting all morning at the hospital wore me out. Dad came through surgery just fine. We won't know any of the test results until Friday when dad goes back to the doc. I had better go. Y'all take care.

Good morning all. I've just got a few minutes to post before Vivian gets up. I've been awake since 11:15 pm. Went to bed at 9:05 pm. I've got to try and get some sleep today.

The guys came and got the lawn mower yesterday. As soon as the repairman sat on the seat and turned the key, the crazy thing turned right on over! But, it was making some funny noises from underneath. I think the belt is about ready to go, and the deck needs to be balanced. So, that's going to be done.

Please pray for a man that Viv and I used to work with. We worked with his wife as well, and she passed away on Sunday morning, we believe, from cancer. She was only 38. She said she knew the Lord. He doesn't. They have two little girls and her whole family lives right next door to them. The funeral was yesterday, and knowing the preacher, he didn't preach a salvation message. We are planning on going and seeing them and talking to them about the Lord again. We would appreciate your prayers.

It's supposed to be in the lower 80's here today instead of the lower 90's, so that will be a blessing! We need some rain, though!

Y'all have a wonderful, Lord filled day!
