    hi y all

Sue my prayers include you, for a speedy recovery, and a mild report from the pathologist......'

My mother arrived home last night after gadding about the Yukon and Alaska...had a wonderful time, met wonderful folk on the 30hrs in the plane getting there and a shorter flight 26 hours getting back (she is a tough traveller). She is off to the Presbyterian church in the city tomorrow to see some young fellows who impressed her mightily on the return trip. Young Yankee lads who were impressively polite under the eagle eye of their supervisors who are part of a choir...Minessotta Land of the Lakes I think she said.

I would probably go with her except I am doing a 12 hour night shift and will be hard pressed driving home to bed. I have been very busy at work with some pretty crook folk, and a mixed bag of staff in skills, never mind the doctor who I wanted to smack over the back of the head before the end of the shift....however I smiled grimly and behaved myself and with the exception of one made it through.I am turning into an old harridin I think!:BangHead: :tear:

And to think I will be crunching numbers this time next year with nowhere the grief and the stress AND be paid more.......

In the northern hemisphere, the longest day of the year (near June 21-22) is when the Sun is farthest north. The summer solstice marks the first day of the season of summer. The declination of the Sun on the (northern) summer solstice is directly overhead at the tropic of cancer (23° 27').

The summer solstice is the longest day of the year, in the sense that the length of time elapsed between sunrise and sunset on this day is a maximum for the year (approx 15 hours).

In Casper, Wyoming, the solstice will occur this year at 12:11 pm on Thursday, June 21st and summer will officially (astronomically) begin.

This will be the same time as you officially begin winter. In the southern hemisphere, winter and summer solstices are exchanged, as are, of course, spring and fall.

In the Northern Hemisphere we will have
Vernal Equinox on March 21, officially starting spring
Summer Solstice on June 21, officially starting summer
Autumnal Equinox on September 21, officially starting fall
Winter Solstice on Dec 21, officially starting winter

    Good morning all,

I had a good night's sleep and the headache is gone. PTL!

I just have a moment because Brent and I need to be off to the kid's fishing derby shortly. We will be there until sometime this afternoon. D.A.R.E. is sponsoring it and will have free hot dogs and Coke for lunch.

    HAGD!

    Good morning all,
Sue: glad your headache is gone.
I can't stay around long myself. I have to take the oldest nephew back to his parents and pick up his sisters. He has a soccer tourney this weekend and since one of his sisters has a softball game today we are just switching kids. After the game, I hope we are coming home. I have to finish getting packed for camp next week. Please keep the two kids that are going and myself in your prayers. I have never taken kids by myself I have always gone with larger churches so this is a whole new experience for me. I had better go time is getting away from me.
    Y'all have a blessed day!

    Small Word department:

My Wife used to live at Alberta Creek.
She lived there a few years after her
    first husband died.

(Oklahoma talk going on here, for the non-Oklahomans,
Alberta Creek is a lake resort
by Texhoma Lake. Alberta Creek is just west
of where Sister palagislandgirl goes to church.)

Why yes I do, Barnabas! Thanks for asking!

Brent won a nice fishing rod and reel and a bunch of things for his tackle box for catching the SMALLEST fish!

I don't know how he even got it on the hook. It was too small for the stringer and I had to put it in my soda pop can. I have fish in my aquarium bigger than that one. :applause:

He did catch two nice catfish that we brought home, cleaned, filleted, and put in the freezer.

He had a whole stringer full of blue gill but lost the whole lot (stringer included) in the pond. :BangHead:

We had a good time and I'm tired from all the sun and wind. He could have stayed and fished all day, but not me...

    Pleasant dreams all!

Thanks, Bri, but today is our Sunday. You are a day ahead of us.

    Good morning all,

It is 61º and for once I am thankful for some cooler weather. I am going to WI to see Vern sometime this week (hopefully) and it will be nice driving weather.

Must wake Brent up and get ready for SS and church.

Have a blessed Lord's Day all!

    Good afternoon all,
BTW, Bro. Ed: Alberta Creek is one of my favorite places on that lake! It was really pretty the last time I was there.
Today was a good day. I have to finish getting ready for camp though and that requires more laundry! I had better get started I have alot to do before in the morning. I hope y'all have a good week. I will be in the mountains (yes, we do have a few of those in Oklahoma) so no internet access for me for six whole days!
My cell phone doesn't even work really well up there but God does mighty works there so I can't wait!

PI - Are you going camping or to camp? I was just wondering because I'm going to camp in a couple of weeks with my two little ones to train the horses. I'm even beginning to get ready now because there's so many things to make sure we have with my allergic son and allergic/sensitive skin daughter. LOL!!

Today is a quiet day for the afternoon. We're all just hanging out - and then DH and I will hit the yacht club for dinner (new month, new minimum). It will be nice because he was away last week and we were not able to get out for a while before that. We use this as our time to reconnect.

So - who else are we missing? Helen hasn't been here in a couple of weeks and Paul is now missing too??? I pray that everything is OK with everyone!

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

It is 80 degrees and sunny here, no rain forecast until friday.

The grandkids just got home from their dad's, and guess what?... they're hungry. We're going to grill some burgers, I threw together some cilantro potato salad, and the gkids want ice cream sundaes for dessert.

Not much going on here. We have a memorial service to go to tomorrow morning. My son's girl friend's step-dad took his own life last week and Brenda and I are going to the service tomorrow.

Got to get out of here the gkids sound like they haven't eaten in a week so it's time to fire up the grill.

    ...........ugg...............too tired to type..........ugg.................

:) We're back!!!!! Praise be! Started driving at 6 this morning and was beginning to think we'd never get home!

My poor dogs are still telling us hello. I'm sure the neighbors appreciate that! I'd let them in for a while, but both of them are blowing their coats and the hair is just hanging off them. No house for them till they can get brushed! The cat is also happy and is going back and forth between us. She is especially happy with Cass who brought her back a catnip toy.

The guinea pigs just want their cages cleaned. Not even a chirp in our direction.

Washington was hot and tiring as always, but we managed to have quite a nice time. Saw the Archives, Printing and Engraving, all the memorials including Jefferson (that was a hike!), several museums and the zoo (the pandas were great!).

Then it was down to NC to visit T's sis and her family. The only really bad part of the trip happened here and no it wasn't a family fuss! :D They have bought themselves a condo in Chapel Hill to be closer to where they work. We hadn't seen it yet, so on Friday they took us up. We noticed a puddle outside their door and thought it must have rained only there wasn't water anywhere else.....opened the door to find a couple of sections of ceiling on the floor and a flood. The plumbing going into the upstairs neighbor had sprung a leak. It took the rest of the day to find that the contractor who just replaced all the the plumbing in the neighborhood appears to be the responsible party and get folks out there to start drying it all out. Sis and her husband were busily fixing and painting and they hadn't moved in yet, so nothing important or irreplacable was ruined. So, a miserable day but not a bad ending.

Other things that happened: I got sunburned for the first time in ages our first day in DC. The day we went to the beach, nada. Didn't burn a bit. Go figure.

Chris gained 5 pounds. In one week.

Jenna outgrew another pair of capris. I'm going to have to give up and buy the child bigger clothes.

Cass came home from her cruise safe and happy. (somehow, Nanny and Papa also survived  )

    The house is fine.

    The pizza is here.

    See ya later!

Welcome back, Cindi! Glad you survived!

    Good morning all,

It is 61º heading for a sunny 83º this afternoon. I have a lot of calls to make today. Someone keyed my car pretty badly and I have to get an estimate and take it to the insurance company. I have ordered a security camera to put on the front of the house. Sad...

Here is a picture of our two new 'children'. You can hardly tell where one kitten ends and the other one begins. They are playing on a cat house/scratching post.

Time to fix breakfast and get Brent up for VBS.

    HAGD all!

    Good morning all,
I can't stay long, I have lots of things to do.
Ann: I am going to church camp with three teenagers.
    Sue: Your babies are adorable.
Anyway, it is going to be good. I started today out badly but hope it will get better. I finally got to bed about midnight and was up at 4:30! I got a short nap between 6 and 7 but I am back up and almost ready to leave. I have a couple of more things to pack and one suitcase to load in my car then I can leave in an hour to go meet the kids. I had better go, I need to find something to cook breakfast in since I have gone on strike as the dishwasher. Y'all have a blessed week.

PI - I know you're probably gone but I pray that you have a blessed and safe time!!

Today is mom's taxi service day. It's finals at the high school so the kids get done at different times. I dropped off Joanna (4) at preschool at 9:30, was driving home and saw my oldest's best friend walking home from school (she had just one final today) so I brought her home to her house then got home to mine. I'm homeschooling Robby (6) right now and am waiting for a phone call to pick up Nicole (14) because the last period for finals today is 6th, which is her lunch, so she can leave early. That will be around 11:30 or so. I'll then run back to pick up Jo from preschool at 12:30 - then go out at 1:30 to pick up Lauren (17). I'm just so glad gas is so cheap right now (NOT). LOL!! After all this, I'm heading out to go horseback riding and then we're home for dinner and relaxation.

It's a beautiful day today and 74 degrees right now heading to a high of about 83. Low humidity is a wonderful thing! :D

    Good Morning Everyone!

It's back to being Monday, though when I turned the news on I wondered why they were showing the bell ringing on Wall Street. After all the stock market doesn't work on the weekend. It took me a minute to realize that today was NOT Sunday.

Being that it is Monday, Monday chores have commenced. Got the coffee started and the washing machine going. Up next: guinea pig cages and the litter box. I really don't like Monday!
