    Greetings all!

This is going to be a rainy week in Philly. But that beats 90 degree heat!

I will soon not have to hear my daughter whine about calculating grades, as the school year draws to a close. Praise the Lord!

Those who remember me would expect that I am up to my ears right now in planning VBS, and they would be correct. We are making the move to 6-9 PM this year after 30 years of VBS in the mornings. So far it has indeed resulted in far more volunteers. I just hope it doesn't result in fewer children. We will be having it July 9-13. Our theme is called "Avalanche Ranch" as in cattle ranching in the Colorado Rockies. A "wild ride" through God's Word. Wa-hoo! Hey, at least I don't have to get up early every day for VBS :sleeping_2: !

:wavey: Sue, I hope you are feeling better. At the risk of starting up a fuss about cats, I'll say those are two cuties you've got there!

VBS at night?? Oh, the sacrilege! LOL! Our VBS is July 30 and we're doing Sonforce Kids - I think we'd have a mutiny if we had one more VBS with a western/country theme! LOL! But then again, we've all gotten a great wardrobe of bandanas! LOL!! Fortunately, I'm not up to my ears in VBS just yet - I still need to call my staff from last year and see if they're working with me again. I know one woman is taking vacation that week to do it - and I have just 6 more to call. I'll also get 3 teens to help (I'm in the kitchen feeding 600 people!) because they're the ones strong enough to carry trays of 40 drinks! That reminds me though - I want to make up a list of snack foods for parents of kids who have allergies. I want to make sure that each child is OK with the snack - last year I ended up calling a ton of kids the day before VBS and then finding out 3 more kids had severe allergies! I always make sure I have a good allergy-free snack for these kids. Whew! What a lot of work!

Our church tried VBS at night for two years. We switched back to days this year. We had more adults, but less kids.

We're doing a western theme for the first time. It is called WILD WEST WITNESS "Riding in the Shadow of the Cross" Luke 9:23.

Brent is too old now as the limit is 7th grade so he is a 'helper' this year. He loved it today! We go from 9:00-12:30. He is gone from 8:00 until 1:30 as he rides the bus and helps with the kids on there too.

I am going to fix a glass of sun tea and relax. I've run all day. The estimate to fix the scratches on my car (where someone keyed it) came to almost $1,900.00!!!! It's a good thing my insurance has $100.00 deductible on vandalism instead of the $500.00 on my homeowners...

Have a good evening folks and pleasant dreams in case I don't get back here tonight.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Nineteen hundred dollars for scratched paint? How many keys did the vandal use? You must have had some extensive damage. Makes you want catch who did it and take them out behind the barn for some "education", doesn't it?

Hmmm, there's no breakfast in here. Guess I'm cooking or rather cutting. It's too hot to cook and I found some lovely fruit yesterday so: There is fresh cut cantaloupe, pineapple, bananas, peaches and nectarines in the fridge. Yougurt is sitting next to the fruit and there is plenty of ice in the freezer. Whip yourselves up a fruit smoothie when you come in. For something more solid there are muffins and cinnamon rolls (from the store of course) on the counter and bread for toast. Plenty of butter and jelly to go with.

Today I will try to find the house under all the vacation clutter and clean laundry (spent yesterday washing clothes). Then it will be off to church to smock!

    Ya'll have a good day!

The fruit is yummy ... thanks MK.

Wow, what a key job Sue! Thank goodness for $100 deductibles!

We've had VBS in the evenings for many years. We have no teachers for daytime VBS.

Hot and muggy here today. We need rain terribly but there's none in the forecast. The only green grass at our house is just a smidgen around the pool. ;)

    HAGD all! :wavey:

I don't know, Cindi, but about the only thing they did not key was one of the doors. They ran the key (or whatever it was) back and forth on the hood several times and then just walked around the car dragging the key. I am installing a security camera if it ever gets here and am praying I catch him at it. That is not the only vandalism this guy has done. He has pulled up expensive bushes of mine and threw them in the yard (that is why we put up a fence to begin with). He also pulls the caps off of our gothic fence as he skateboards on our sidewalk late at night and into the early morning hours. Sometimes, he pries the slats off too and throws them in the yard.

If I can prove who it was, the police better get here before I get ahold of him!!!

    Good morning all,

It is 78º and the bus just picked Brent up for VBS. There are some things I want to get done while he is gone. The material for my sun porch curtains should arrive via FedEx today and my sewing machine is fixed, so that is my next project. I have 8 windows out there and I want to make cafe curtains with long strips hanging down between the windows. It will take some time.

While waiting for FedEx, I need to clean the table off that goes with my booths. That is where I do my sewing and for some reason, the men folk decided that's where they were going to park all of their tools!

    Thanks for breakfast, Cindi!

    HAGD all!

There is very little I dislike more than people violating another's possessions. It is an absolute invasion of privacy.

Just this past week a hoodlum went into my immediate neighbours beehives and pushed them over. This was her most productive beehive and she works very hard to support herself with this.

Another day in the 30's here and I love it. Lots of turf to mow, and work in shop waiting for me.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

It is 85 and sunny here right now, the low tonight is supposed to be in the 50s [great sleeping weather].

Sue: If you ever find who keyed your car let me know. Sounds like they might need some "wall-to-wall" counseling [this wall to that wall].

The Memorial Service yesterday was very comforting concerning the circumstances...that is until they read some written tributes and when they came to the widow's tribute and she recounted about she and her husband's first date...and how she spent the night with him. To say there was an uncomfortable silence would be like describing a hurricane as a "stiff breeze." The poor Pastor who was reading the tributes had only been handed them just before the service so he was caught completely un-awares. I bet the next time he'll read them before the service just to avoid another surprise.

Since the coffeehouse crew was sumptiously fed by my Cuz this morning, you probably didn't know I wasn't even here. I brought in some Fresh Fruit with "Margarita" Dip for anybody who wants to nibble before dinner[virtual food isn't filling or fattening remember?]

Time for me to get ready to fire up the grill for dinner tonight. We're having Montreal Peppered Steaks, Montreal Peppered Portabellos, Southern-Style Cobb Salad, and Fresh Fruit with "Margarita" Dip for dessert.

    Good Morning Everybody,

It is 61 and sunny here, headed for a high of 90.

I can't believe it I arrived in the coffeehouse before Sue. I've also learned how to post my early arrival so I'm not accused of "Granny assault" :tongue3:

This morning I brought in Waffles, Eggs, Sausage Gravy & Biscuits, Sausage and Bacon. Enjoy.

Today is the last day of school for the Gkids. Watch, tonight we'll have no problem getting them to go to bed.

Not much going on here today. I've got to go out and cut the hay [laughingly called our lawn], but that's about it.

I'd go out and sit in the sun, but, I suffer from "furniture disease." My chest has dropped into my drawers.

I'm getting out of here before somebody shouts "Get the hook!!"

    Good morning all,

Thanks for breakfast, Rob! Actually, I have been up since 6:30 but was waiting for you to bring in breakfast before I stopped by.

The material arrived for my curtains late yesterday, so I am planning to sew most of the day. I'm sure I won't get them all done today, but I'll get a good start.

Then I must go shopping for some new curtain rods. Hmmm. I guess I'd better do that first because I need to pick up some matching thread!

    HAGD!

    Good Morning Everyone!

    Thanks for breakfast, Cuz!

Sue, I sewed and played around yesterday so I have to "work" today! We are still not completely unpacked!

Somehow in all the coming in we've lost one of T's perscriptions, my glasses and Cass says all of her clothes! That is, all the ones she wants to wear. :D I finally found my glasses yesterday and of course I remembered putting them there when I found them. T's perscription is no where to be seen (thankfully it isn't one that really matters if he misses a dose!). Cass' clothes are all in the laundry that was supposed to get separated yesterday but didn't. At least a load of dishes got ran through the dishwasher.

So today's schedule involves general cleaning up, the rest of the clothes sorting and brushing out my poor huskies that are blowing their coats.

The neighbor ladies who were good enough to care for my doggies while I was gone, moved them both to the front yard when they saw a snake coming out of my backyard. Ava is losing so much of her coat that three of my bushes in front are literally covered in her hair where she rubbed up against them. I should probably rake out those bushes too!

Well, breakfast is eaten so I guess I had better get started!

Just think Cuz, if the time comes when you can't smock anymore you can always get a job with an airline in the baggage department.

You and Sue are both very welcome to the breakfast. We missed your "cooking" last week.

LOL, Rob! I lose things quite well.

I've had quite a productive day! Didn't find T's perscription. I did get the house cleaned (slave labor), clothes sorted and Cass's found(Mom labor), Ava brushed (Cass labor) and I got all my grass mowed. Any snake that tries to play in my yard again is going to find it hard to hide!

Now it's time for church. Going to go keep the nursery for a while tonight. That'll be fun. (not!)

    Good morning all,

Cindi: Sewing IS "work" for me! I don't do it well and run out of patience. Especially when I have so many curtains to make out of the same material. I'd rather clean house!!! I don't like to sit still that long.

I didn't get started on the sewing yesterday, but that is third on my list. Washing last night's dishes and doing two loads of laundry come first. Once I get the sewing machine set up and the curtains cut out, I'll be all right.

Must run and make breakfast for Brent before the bus picks him up for VBS. I'm fixing BLT's, per request, for breakfast, so help yourself!

    HAGD!

Now Cindi, are you saying you were not looking forward to watching Todd and Kacy at church last night???

LOL, don't let Cindi fool ya, we had a few good laughs. Most of them were at Todd =)
We had a wonderful adult to child ratio! there were 4 adults, 5 children and 3 teen helpers...I didn't even have to change diapers!

I really have to do some sewing at church today. there are too many things that have been put off and now they are coming due....akkk!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Hey all - not feeling great today. I had a migraine last night and took Imitrex and feel pretty wiped out today. I'm just going to take it easy - no riding or anything (although that WAS the plan). Gonna help Lauren (17) study for her state test in chemistry because she got a 62 on her final exam and she NEEDS to pass this next test in order to not go to summer school. We have a lot of plans for this summer - family vacations, Lauren going to a Christian camp to train to become a counselor and such. So if she fails, it's going to ruin a lot. Pray that she does well - and gets a high enough grade to pass this class. :praying:

BTW - I heard from Helen yesterday and she's doing OK - just crazy busy. I was worried about her and it was good to hear that she's fine. :)

MMmmm! I love BLT's! Thanks Sue!

    Good morning everyone!

After such a productive day yesterday, I don't know quite what to do today. NOT! I have 6 kids in my house. Thankfully only two of them are awake. But they are passing the dogs up in favor of the swimming pool and the dogs are voicing their dissaproval. That should have the direct effect of waking up the other 4. What was I thinking when I told them to go out?!

Sue, half the work of sewing anything is getting the machine set up and cutting out the pieces. I hate both myself and setting up my machine usually only means changing the thread color!

I get to sew myself today. Gotta go vaccuum out the pool first. The water is finally warm enough for me to get into which means I should be able to get it really clean without worrying about getting sweet gum balls stuck in the vaccuum. I hate sweet gum balls.

This afternoon I will head over to the church. I should only have 5 children at this point and Tanya will be wanting hers back so by the time I get home this evening I'll be down to just three again. Seems Tanya's hubby was highly amused to find out that I had more kids going home with me last night than they did! MY hubby just rolled his eyes as kids kept coming in the door. He missed one of them coming in somehow and rolled them again when he figured it out! LOL! I was a bad wife and failed to give him any notice. :D

The preacher's wife is supposed to meet me at the church this pm so we can figure out what to do about children's church. We are both choir members as well and the choir has a guest director coming in (we are in the process of finding a new music minister). That presents a conflict as it is really hard to be in two places at one time. She'll go sing as this guy is someone she and the preacher know and it'd probably be rude for her not too, but we have to figure out what we want the kids to do while she is gone and I am by myself. Hopefully I'll have some teens I can use for crowd control, but we'll have to change our usual schedule of events.

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

It is 84 and sunny here, headed for a high of 90.

Please be in prayer for Sean today. He has surgery to correct a problem he has with urination.

We live about 20 miles from the Michigan International Speedway where the NASCAR race is being held this weekend. I had to go to Brooklyn (where the track is) this morning to pickup a prescription for my grandaughter Autumn, that little town is a madhouse. When I was going to school I didn't have time to be interested in sports, the same when I was working, so I'm one of the few in the area that could care less about the race(or any other sports for that matter.)

From the sound of Sue's post today I hope it's not "curtains" for I Am Blessed 16.

Thanks for the BLTs. They were great.

My errands are done so it's time to go outside and watch the grandkids. It's hard work but somebody's got to do it. LOL!!!

Oooooh ... my boys loved the Michigan NASCAR race they went to a few years back! We're not hard core fans, but definite NASCAR fans. :)
