    Hi folks,

You all are being prayed for. That's first.

Second is that I had TWO 'up' days before a down day (Tuesday) when I slept all day. Yesterday I got a reasonable amount of work done, so that was an 'up' day. This morning my zest isn't zesting, though, so this might at least be a half and half day. Some things need to get done. Some things I would LIKE to get done. Some things I don't care if they get done...LOL

But slowly but surey the mono is receding. This one has been a bout, though. Well over a month now, probably closer to two, actually.

My future daughter-in-law's bridal shower is a week from Saturday down near Sacramento, so I HAVE to be well enough for that! It's a six hour drive, but Barry and I will both be going and spending the night at our son's as Barry will be officiating at the wedding and he and the bride and groom can get together that weekend and decide how to do the ceremony. That is going to be something, to see my husband marry my son and daughter-in-law and our oldest daughter and her husband in the bridal party. What a joy!

It's been raining here for a few days, but the timing is perfect, as I had just put in some new plants -- some lupines on the hill next to the driveway, some creeping cotoneasters under a maple tree where little else will survive (if these guys can't make it, we go to big pots and plants in them! Maple trees are notorious for sucking up all the water around and letting their neighbors die of thirst.) Also got some beautiful blue delphiniums for the back area and Barry's favorite color (purple and white striped) creeping phlox for next to a pathway. Oh yeah, and some pelargoniums that are lovely. Because different things were scattered all over the yard, I was wondering how I would get them all watered, as it was Monday evening and Barry was already at the observatory teaching.

Figured I'd wait until the next morning. God helped. He sent rain. We have a day or two more of on-again, off-again and then partly cloudy for a few days at least, then we'll see. This is "if you don't like the weather, wait a minute" country....

The kids have gotten Barry a magnificent digital camera for his birthday, so we should be able to FINALLY get some pictures up on our website, maybe, and you folks can see our animals and gardens. He is so thrilled with the camera he can hardly talk....and THAT is something!

Bible study last night here. The couples and others we meet with have become like family now after a year and a half together. It is really, really special and the research they all bring from their own fields of expertise is wonderful. So much insight, so much encouragement for faith. So much prayer. And so much fun!

That's about all. I'm postponing going out to feed the horses, and I'd better get my droopy body in gear or my guilt will build. And who wants built guilt? Sorry....:wavey:

    God bless you all.

    Morning all,
I won't say it's good but I am better than yesterday. I had to get up early and go for jury duty only to get sent home. I went to school with the prosecuting attorney and I have been a classroom teacher. It was a case of child sexual abuse. I am glad that I didn't have to stay. We have rain chances in the forecast for the next week-wish I could send some to Briony! I had better go and see what I can dig up for lunch!

With the weather nice, and everybody busy I thought I'd bring in lunch.

Buffalo Chicken Enchaladas with Creamy Ranch Sauce, Mexican Cheesy Potatoes, Broccoli, Bacon & Cheddar Toss, and Caramel-Apple Cheesecake. Enjoy.

We ran into some "friends" of ours while we were grocery shopping. They're the type who always are, and have better than you have (if you know what I mean). They were bragging about their bedroom suite that goes back to Louis XIV. "Big deal" I said, "we have a bedroom suite that goes back to Sears Roebuck the first." They didn't know what to say.

    That's great, Rob.

When S and I got married 20 years ago, we didn't want to spend what little money we had on furniture and the like. We were both divorced and both had bits and pieces of furniture, dishes, etc. so we put everything together. Talk about a dukes mixture!! Nothing matched, some of it still doesn't! But we LIVE in our house -- you'll never see it pictured in a magazine. We figure about the time we have everything new, we'll have grandchildren. ;)

On the flip side, our house is paid off ... cars too, and Brad's college debts. We figure we're in a better position with our old, tattered stuff. We replaced flooring, purchased new windows, doors and added siding in '96. But the carpet needs replaced, the vinyl flooring is trying to peel up around the edges, and yellowing in spots. Can't win 'em all!

I'm with you, PJ. We live in our house now. We lived in parsonages all through the years and felt we had to lift our feet one foot off the floor when we entered and remain there until we left..might soil the carpet or floors.

Now we walk in the door wearing wellingtons and don't trouble about it in entryway. We even leave dishes on counter. If someone visits and doesn't like it, they can always go the other way.

Besides, it is hard to keep up with the squirrels that love to take up residence in the walls...........

    Love life, and live it.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I rarely visit this particular thread, but I guess the Lord wanted me to visit today.

2 months after starting a new job in '96, I got mono. I had no sick days available and was out of work for 2 weeks, and it took a full month to get over it. No fun. My throat hurt so bad that I lost a bunch of weight from not eating, and couldn't get any sleep because of the pain.

    Praying for you, helen.

Thanks for asking Pam! We have been quite busy these past few days. Our Pastor got ill last Saturday but was brave enough to preach the Sunday morning sermon. He had irregular heart beat, going up to 160 per minute. Sunday afternoon one of our paramedics took him to a doctor and his heart beat was monitored. By 10:30 PM Sunday evening he was checked in to the Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco.

They could not stabilize his heart and placed him on an experimental drug at the ICU section of the hospital. I visited him Monday morning, then going on Tuesday, prayed with him, took his wife home (for the poor thing was sleeping on a chair overnight). She followed me with the church van, as she did not know the way. The following day my wife and I picked up the pastor's wife and brought her again to the hospital. Lenke cooked for the wife and her Mom, who stays with them in Chappaqua, NY.

Tuesday morning at four o'clock the nurse woke up the pastor and said, "I have good news for you. Your heart has just been converted." Now that was a shock to a pastor, so he asked for clarification. The nurse laughed and said, "Your heart beat is now normal."

Wednesday he was released from the hospital at 02:30 PM and I took them to the Westchester Airport this morning at four o'clock. They had a 06:00 AM flight from here to Jacksonville, FL. where our pastor will receive an honorary doctorate from Trinity Bible College. He got special permission from his doctor for travel.

So, my wife and I have been pretty busy but praise the Lord He heard our prayers and all seems to be well now. :type:

    Good evening all,

Thought I'd pop in for a minute. I didn't get anything done today on the porch for I had running to do that I had forgotten all about and I actually took a nap today! I guess I needed it.

I have to start my 12 hour fast in a few minutes so I can have bloodwork done at the lab tomorrow, so I'm going to bed early - no temptations...

Karen: We 'pick up' our folks, but we don't carry them. LOL

Helen: I can only imagine what you are going through with this mono dragging on like it has.:tear:

islandgirl: Glad you didn't have to serve on that jury. You always seem like you're on the run!

Rob: I hope your 'friends' have changed the mattress since Louis XIV slept on it...

PJ and Jim: I'm with you. I'd rather do without than have payments to make.

I tell people if they come to visit me, they can pop in anytime, but if they are coming to inspect my house, they need to either make a reservation 3 weeks in advance or pay admission!

ccrobinson: Welcome to the CH! Stop by anytime!

Barnabas: You have been busy! I would expect nothing less from you than what you did. You're just a sweetie!:saint:

    Pleasant dreams all!

I am not so sure about calling Brother Barnabas "sweetie" but he is certainly a wonderful witness to the Lord's blessings as he ministers to those in need.

God be with the pastor in this trying time and good on him receiving a doctorate for his ministry and life.
Got my tiller back to-day, so guess wot I will be doing tomorrow (DV)?

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Good morning all,

Jim: Good luck with your tilling today. Barnabas and Lenke are both sweeties, but you're right. It wouldn't sound too good if YOU called him a sweetie.

Briony: Glad you're feeling a tad better. I wish I could send you some rain! :tear:

It is 56º right now and we are to have thunderstorms today through next Thursday - every day!!! :BangHead:

Time for a shower, breakfast for Brent, taxi service to school, hospital visit for lab work, back home for some more measuring, sawing, and hanging paneling.

I brought in some raisin bread with icing and an Upside Down Breakfast Cake. Coffee is hot and water for tea is steeping. Orange juice is in the fridge.

I need to get out of here before I am tempted to eat.

    Have a good day all!

    Good Morning Everybody,

It is 42 degrees here and sunny, headed for a high of 70.

I got the shock of my life this morning. I went out to take the G-kids to school...and the car was gone!! Flying back into the house with a shocked look at my face I told my Wife what happened....and she burst out laughing!! She had told a friend of ours that she could borrow our car today, forgetting I have to take the kids to school, and also forgetting to tell me. Sure brings new meaning to the term "be still my heart!"

Thanks for the breakfast Sue! Could you please post the recipe for Upside-down Breakfast Cake? That sounds like something I want to try.

Going to an all-day Men's Retreat tomorrow with a friend of mine.

My Wife is still laughing at me. Why is it Wives can be counted on for such "positive re-enforcement?"

    Good morning all,
It is a wonderfully humid spring day. Dad got a good report at the doctor's office yesterday.
Sue: Your right, with four neices and nephews who still think that the world is going to end if Aunt Vicki isn't there for everything I am constantly going! Good luck with all you're doing today. Putting up paneling isn't my favorite project!
Breakfast sounds good but I am going to have to eat on the run today as usual. I have two different funerals to go to today. Both of them where awesome saints of God and there is no doubt what they're doing right now.

My MiMi kitty got to come home from the vet yesterday! She is doing so good....we just won't think of the bill from her having surgery to remove string from one end of her to the other. <gag> the vet asked me if we wanted to keep the string<gag>

You folks sure have been busy the last day or so!

I am doing good so far. My morning sickness is more of an all day sickness. I feel like I will toss my cookies at any point...all day long. Thankfully I only get sick if I eat anything with tomatoes in it:BangHead: Can you guess what my fav foods are??

LOL...I'm not even sure how far long I really am yet and I am already on my 3rd doctor:tonofbricks:

Doctor #1(here in town)...is a nut, the first time I saw him he said "I'm not sure you are even pregnant" lol..at that point I had 5+ test at home that said I was<eye roll>...and I told him his services were not required or desired:wavey:

Doctor #2(here in town) I used him for babies #2 & 3 wonderful guy...don't like the people who work in his office...but...he & my internal med doctor feel I am too high risk for him (due to my being diabetic, having high b/p & my past history) to treat as a family practice doctor.
*the internal med doctor also thinks the hospital here isn't equipped to take care of the problems I *could* have*

doctor #3,( 1 1/2 hours drive each way) the one I have used for #4-6, is friends with dr #2. He thinks the run around I have received is funny. Made an appt for next Thursday...he called and wants me in on Tuesday @ 1:45pm. I told him that was my lunch time :) he said he would buy my stinking lunch...I just better be there for my ultrasound. lol...and his nurse said he better give me a "repeat customer discount" for having this baby under his care. He told her he "should charge that one extra for the stress she can cause me" <big grin> sorry...just because a doctor says it doesn't mean I will do it!

The good news is, my internal meds dr, dr #2 & dr #3 believe me that I am pregnant without any "proof", my b/p is doing well, I am on a low dose of meds with plenty of room to go up if needed & the meds I am own will not harm the baby. If anything they will help the major organs develop sooner.

Today I hope to get to the church to sew some outfits for Kacy and maybe some smocking.

Praying you all have a good weekend!

Tanya - Doctor #3 sounds like he's a hoot - and one that I would possibly want to care for me. I like a doc who can be firm and fun - and get the job done.

I'm at church now working - I'll be here all day. We have homeschool group after lunch and then when I get home, there's a pork shoulder in the crockpot that I'll shred and we'll have pulled pork sandwiches with cole slaw and cut up veggies. Yum!!

    Have a wonderful day all!

    Good morning all!

Well, yesterday was a mediium day. The work I did was with Barry here at the computer, so I didn't have to expend too much physical energy. Nevertheless by evening I was dead on my feet and went to bed about seven, I think, with a few short forays up because I was sick of lying down.

Today feels pretty good! There are a few things to do. Saw some gorgeous carnations when I was shopping on Wednesday and so will get them planted today, but that's no big deal.

A friend brought over some strawberry plants which were hybridized by the man who used to own their ranch. How can I say no to that? Even though I have strawberries already...

Where to put them? Well, we have a hundred gallon rubber horse trough that is too much trouble to turn over and clean several times a summer (the fifty gallon one is fine for the pasture area, and easier to deal with), so I asked Barry to drill a bunch of holes in the bottom, we would put it near the chicken fence and put dirt and the strawberries in it.

He drilled the holes -- they spell out "Barry loves Penny" (Penny is my nickname due to the copper color of my hair). That was so sweet!

Saw the tree cutters at a house near here and saw they were loaded with chips. Went over and asked if anyone had claimed the chips and they said no, but for a plate of chocolate chip cookies they would let me have them. I didn't need them, but our neighbor does. He was at work and I couldn't reach him, but his house and yard that he inherited from his dad are really overwhelming him with the work necessary and I knew the chips would be a great mulch to keep weeds down, so I baked the cookies and had the men dump the chips in his driveway. He got a surprise when he got home last night....LOL

We'll help him spread them today....

Time to get moving. There's work to be done, remembering the chips, more than I thought when I started this post. But it will be a fun day.

    God bless you all.
