No, me neither! I can't go making changes for non-church members--I do that and we'll be changin' every week!

As pastor I get with you as the teacher and ask the simple question--which preference have you been teaching from in the past??

You tell me--NKJV! And I honor your preference as the teacher of that class--unless of course its winds up being one of those new fangled "Creative" translations where there's no gender seperations and stuff like that--you know what I mean???!(of course, Liberals wipe the smile off their faces when I reject those new fangled translations!!) The non-church member will just have to get by with it--but I put my trust in my teacher!

    Happy Birthday, Sheila!

    Thank you Blackbird.

It is very quiet in here today. Where is everyone  I'm stuck here all on my own, Rob at deacons meeting and no - one to talk to :(

Diane, For you to have to switch to KJV becasue of people who aren't even members is just plain wrong. Seems they are to be the ones to bend becasue they are only visitors.
I guess what I mean is I agree with Blackbird.

I'm such a chicken! However, I called Nick's T & T Teacher who is a friend and asked her to make sure when she orders his book to put down that I want the NKJV and I wrote the Minister of Ed who is a friend and told him WHY I wanted NKJV and that I understood I'd be charged more because the books cost more as singles than in packets... He didn't respond so I'm guessing he just approved it.

I DID get a call from the church because I've offered to map out all the directions for our visitation blitz next Tuesday. It seems we spend 30 mins. or so looking up directions on maps when we could be in homes! I figured I could use Map Quest and save us a lot of wasted time. They've got the cards ready for me to pick up at church tonight. So Blackbird... I might have skipped the youth band last Sunday night... but I'm a worker. LOL

Hi Sheila, I sort of gave up on here when everyone was at the cooker and the Coffee House sounded more like the woman's forum.

I guess the BaptistBoard isn't much different than that other forum,,changes from time to time.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Doesn't such a change need to be discussed and approved of by the deacons or elders of the church...just wondering

    Hi Jim,

Well I was in a chatty mood with no-one but the dog to talk to, and he has taken himself off to bed for an early night. [IMG]

Are you still drawing plans Jim? Do you ever take a break? What else do you do? What are you reading at present?

    Blessings

    Sheila

Yes, still at drawings..a full ten hour day at that. Just take breaks for meals and come in here for a bit each time.

I am reading Certain Trumpets by Garry Wills. It is a book telling about different people. For instance, he writes about Franklin Roosevelt and lists his antitype as Adlai Stevenson...so, in essence, he is comparing the two lives and accomplishments in a historical context.

    Cheers,

    Jim

HI Sheila, I think, since it's the Kid's Club type program that only the 'director' would make the change. I'm the Cubbie Director and no one mentioned any change to me! Of course, the Cubbies only learn parts of verses instead of whole verses and Truth and Training is all new material but it comes in KJV and NKJV as does the other AWANA material!

I'm just going to insist on NKJV for Nick. My problem is that AWANA doesn't allow any core material to be purchased except by churches. You can purchase some evangelical type things outside the church........

So whenest I goest younder unto the sanctuary during the timeth of the clubeth, I will protesteth that I wanteth the new stuffeth.

Oh take me back to the days when we only had the KJV, RV, RSV, Phillips, Moffat and Goodspeed, Berkley's, NEB........I just don't see the big deal about what translation is used..It seems like muchado about nothing.

    Cheers,

LOL.. well by time I got to the AWANA office to ask the question, half a dozen moms had order NKJV! LOL. It seems our Minister of Ed prefers KJV and thought everyone would go along with his choice. So, the books are ordered and Nick got his shirt. He's so proud. He finished his start up book early and is only 1 of the 2 out of all the kids grades 3-6!

So, just got in. I took in a Karaoke Machine for the little ones and they all wanted to sing 14 verses of Father Abraham and I'm in the Lord's Army while stuffing the microphone down their throats. LOL

LOL Jim! I don't think they'll want to travel that far to invite you to church! Dr. Bob had my street, I-20, etc. down pat. Now I can't find it anywhere! LOL

Well, I live at 463 Gilmore Rd. I haven't been to Georgia for at least ten years. I would love to visit again.

    Cheers,

    Jim

PS. May I wear short trousers? Oh, and I don't own a regular tie, only clergy collars... [IMG]

No ties or very few ties in our church! LOL. We do have a young banker that thinks he's Dr. Bob's clone. He wears bow ties!

Short trousers are worn by some in the summer even on Sunday morning! Tonight almost every woman had on either shorts or capri pants. I had on jeans. Of course, I spent 2 hours on the playground and my pockets are full of glue... Don't ask!
