I don't think the skeleton was in the closet!

It has been an interesting trip through our ancestors! Tanya and I could write new soap opera on the tales we've heard.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Least it'll be a good morning until I go do battle with:

the pharmacy--who didn't give us enough insulin pens to last T a month, but the label claims it should. Someone can't add,

the cell phone co.--somehow $10 a month disappears off Chris' GO phone, I have an idea but can't seem to get it stopped,

the bank--this is actually a praise; I get to make a deposit! and

the school--I have to deal with who will guard the meds while Cass attends a theatre seminar and the counselor is supposed to get back with me after trying to investigate how Cass' name and phone number + a whole lot of other girls info, got into the hands of a telemarketer masquerading as a model scout.

So, I'm off to get dressed for the battle, but before I leave I'm putting on fresh coffee, bacon, eggs, bisquits and gravy, cause I'm hungry and virtual food will keep me from gaining back the five pounds I lost last week.

    Ya'll have a good day!

And now back to Skeletons...the hit ABC [Alabama Broadcasting Company] combination soap opera/sitcom:

Are Cindi and Tanya really cousins? Is the pharmacy behind the diabolical plot to control the supply of Alabama's Insulin Pens? Is AT&T secretly taking $10.00 from Chris' cell phone to balance Cindi's checkbook?

And now a word from our sponsor... Bride's Biscuits. The only biscuit mix exclusively used and endorsed by the Menageriekeeper. Anybody can make biscuits that "stick-to-your-ribs" but only Bride's Biscuits can dent them too!
    Bride's Biscuits - Hard as a Rock!

And now back to our story....Is Cindi's precious daughter actually enrolled in a Modelling School? How will she tell her husband?...her new found cousin Tanya?... her Church?...and worst of all - THE BAPTIST BOARD?

Tune it tomorrow to find out why Skeletons is Alabama's most watched show.

And now a final word from our sponsor....Bubba's Joint-Replacement Center & Bodyshop. Is there a hitch in your git-a-along instead of on your truck? Do your kids wonder why they hear Snap-Crackle-Pop when they're not having cereal? Yessir, it's time to visit BUBBA'S. We'll fix the dings ' dents that come with age {visit our new cosmetic surgery center!!], and spend the afternoon in our day spa - be the first in your neighborhood to get an oil bath...your worries and cares [and wrinkles] just slide away at BUBBA'S.

And now back to normal...I mean regular programming. And speaking of regular don't forget that every customer at BUBBA'S get's a free sample of our new laxative, in two new exciting flavors 10w-30 and 10w-40. It'll really make you sit up and take notice!

 Cuz, your a hoot--I mean a hit! The shows a hit!

AT&T was indeed trying to unbalance my checkbook, but they fixed it with only 20 minutes spent on the phone.

The pharmacy? They knew they hadn't given us the 2nd box, but hadn't bothered to call us. (actually I think they knew they hadn't given someone the second box but weren't sure who. ) I now have have the insulin and T ought to make it through the month.

Modeling school, HA! They won't be calling here again. I skeered they're little telemarketer half to death. I'm not sure I won't be calling them though. I still haven't found out where the info came from. It may take some more digging to find the source.

Tacos for lunch! (ya'll note this is twice today that I have provided sustenance. :D )

MY GOODNESS! What you people do when I'm away for a little bit!

Rob - that's priceless. Thanks for the laugh.

Not much going on here. Just been busy with work and home and family and.....well, you know. I'm heading out riding in a few - but riding a new/old horse. I haven't ridden Starr in a while because I'm training Whirl but Whirl seems to have gotten this icky cold that we all had and he's coughing a lot and has some pretty neon colors coming out his nose. So we're giving him time to get better before he gets back into training. So I'll be riding Starr, who I started riding 23 years ago! He has only one girl riding him on the weekends and he really can use some more work but he never gets it. It's a shame since he's getting old and skinny looking from losing muscle. :(

Tonight is the art/talent show at the homeschool co-op I help to run. The little ones just have some things they want to show for the artwork - no talent for this year. LOL!

So I'll talk to you all later! I'm off to go change and get ready to go ride before it gets too late. :)

    Update on Jared Fisher (Guitar25)

Jared made it home last Friday.

Since I saw him last at St Mary's (Rochester, NY) - Jared continues to improve. At St Mary's - I saw him walk with a walker - with the assistance of his mother - he still uses the walker - but no longer needs his mother's assistance.

Jared suffered a brain stem injury in the accident - according to the doctors - it takes longer to recuperate from such an injury - than just a brain injury.

The family is encouraged by his progress. He will continue to have therapy three times a week - three hours a session.

Just a brain injury? There's an understatement for you!

PTL for Jared's continued recovery! Glad to have you back too, Dan. :)

Ah well, today is all about housecleaning and sewing. It should be church day, but I have a sickie so I don't know if I'm going to make it. At least my sickie doesn't have neon colors coming out of her nose! <yuck, gross, gasp>

I need to bathe stinky puppies too, but that'll depend on how my back takes to cleaning and sewing. Since it got cold here my joints are doing strange things. The weirdest is my little toe feeling like it has something stuck between it and the next one. Don't remember having trouble with my toes before. Guess it should be expected considering how many times I've broken them.

Breakfast is muffins, coffee, milk and juice.

I'm going to go get started while I have some energy.

Good morning all! I'm so happy to hear about Jared. Prayers for continued healing and strength for him!!

Well, my ride went well. I had fun because I'm not afraid of Starr and even when he spooked, he's too old to do much so I was able to just ride right through it. This is a horse that used to be determined to get you off his back and he'd have given a bronco rider a run for his money! But now he's pushing 30 and is really deteriorating so it was nothing for me. Oh - and Whirl looked royally ticked at me for riding Starr! He stood in his paddock which is right next to the riding arena staring at me the WHOLE time! It was so funny!

I have to do a lot of work this week because it's the ladies' retreat at church so I need to have all of the computer work done for that by Thursday night. There's a LOT more stuff to be done so I'll be getting the laptop that they're taking tonight, load it up with the graphics and songs then bring it home to work on it. What a project this is going to be! THEN I still have to do all of Sunday's stuff, write an article for a newsletter, and have homeschool group on Friday! Yikes! Yep, I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed.

Oh, and today I'm taking Robby for more allergy testing. They need to test him for rabbit (because we have a bunny) and they want to do the needle tests for mold, dust and such since he gets fall allergies. Don't know if I mentioned this before but the only thing he's allergic to so far is.....horses. Yeah, figures. :BangHead:

Well, I'll catch ya'll later! Have a great day!

    Allergic to horses?!?!?!!!
    No way! No Way!!

That just doesn't seem right, does it Ann?

Far as we know no one around here is allergic to anything except me with a couple medications. One is an antibiotic, the other is an antinausea med. They both give me a rash.

Things are OK around here. This is the off week for my chemo, PTL!
The new stuff is working (pray it stays that way:praying: ) and not making me sick.

Maybe not totally OK. Hubby has had Doctors telling him for years that his thyroid felt a bit large. Well, they finally did a test and said it looked like Multiple-Node Goiter. He'll see a Surgeon on Thursday to see if the Surgeon thinks it needs to be biopsied.

I know - I just looked at them and said "Oh the irony!" LOL!! Turns out he's also allergic to dust mites but not that badly. He tested negative on the skin test and had to go to the second level on the subq needle test before he reacted to it. But the horse? They touched him for the skin test and he blistered within 30 seconds. Even before the positive control that was put on a full 2 minutes before. SIGH

Well, you certainly don't need allergies on top of all you have going on! I just have some fall allergies and Joanna, my little one has allergies to penicillin. My DH, however, is allergic to everything they tested him for. :( So Robby's pretty lucky to just be allergic to horses and dust mites.

Oh good! I'm praying that this is a good answer for you. ((HUGS))

Yikes!! I'll be praying for him too!

    Good morning all,

This weather is crazy! I had to make a run to the grocery store yesterday after dropping Brent off at church (he is going to "Walnut Knob Outdoor" for a three day retreat with the other teens).

The weather was 52º when I left home. When I came out of the grocery store, it was 29º and sleeting so hard that it looked like a white-out. The wind was blowing 35mph and I was only in the store about 30 minutes!!!

It is now 5º with a wind chill of -45º and we are expecting 4-8 inches of snow starting late this afternoon.

If you don't like the weather in Illinois, just stick around for 10 minutes and it will change...

Since Brent is gone and no one is here but me, the cats, the turtle, and the fish...I'm not even getting out of my jammies until it is time to do the papers this afternoon!

    HAGD!

PTL! we are praying for ya Gayla ;o)

here we have a temp of 26°F, Heat Index  of 26°F & Wind Chill of 20°F.

i am on my 3rd cup of coffee...the first was good, the second ended up on the keyboard and now the crazy thing isn't working so well:BangHead:

i have another pot of coffee on, there are muffins and bagels on the counter...sorry we are out of fruit, the kids ate it all yesterday.

speaking of kids, at bed time last night 5 of the 7 were displaying "cold like symptoms" which earned them cold meds:smilewinkgrin:

i woke up with a sore throat...it could be i am getting a bug or it could be due to the new meds i am on. after reading the list of side effects and such, i'm thinking i rather be sleepy all day.

so far the plans for the day are: laundry, keep the kids medicated, go look at a huge (7000+ sqft) house that is really old and in need of major repairs...i can't wait to get in that thing and have a look around :D

    Good morning all,

It is up to 21º. Wow! Of course the wind chill is around 10º and we are expecting an additional 5 to 8 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow.

I am going to pick my grandson up from his 'retreat' around noon today and I will run all my necessary errands then...before the major part of the storm hits.

I cleaned house Tuesday, after Brent left, and it is still clean this morning! I had forgotten that it used to always look like this before g/son moved in. LOL I think it's time to make some changes around here...

    HAGD and stay warm!

    Good Morning Everybody,

This is going to be hit-and-run post.

Brenda is in the hospital. I took her in Tuesday with chest pains and heaviness in the chest. She is now [Thursday] on a regular floor instead of stepdown unit. Still a bit of heaviness in the chest, but no pain. The only problem is the Nitro she was given in ER for the chest pain has triggered a migraine. She had an echogram yesterday and we're awaiting the results from her doctor.

Enjoy your balmy weather Sue. It is 7 degrees here, and we have a Winter Storm Watch from 6PM tonight through 7PM tomorrow, with up to 15" of snow possible.

In looking up the skeletons in my own closet I found a claim to fame. Most of you are way too young to remember the old song "Won't You Come Home Bill Bailey?" but my Great-Great Aunt Sarah Williams was married to Bill Bailey, and the song was written after her left her. The song was right he was a bum [to say the least.]

Times up, I 've got to go the hospital to see Brenda, then lay in provisions in case we do get the 15" of snow.

For those of you who want snow, I left a sign up sheet on the counter. Just sign your name and I'll PM you some snow.

NO SNOW!!!!! <crumpling up sign up sheet and tossing it behind the fridge so no one can find it> Tanya and I have enough of cold and colds!

    Sorry Cuz. :D

About Brenda, did the doc not know that she suffered from migraines? Cause I could have told him what Nitro would do to a migrainer. Bless her heart. I'll pray she feels better enough to come home this morning and that you won't get snowed in.

    Good Morning Everyone!

PTL, we made it to payday!!! I guess you can tell that January was a lonngg month.

I may end up at the doc's again today. Chris caught the gunk that Cass and Jen have had and it went straight to his vocal cords. He can't talk above a whisper. If he's not better when he gets up, I'm calling for an appointment.

Otherwise, it's housecleaning and sewing like normal.

We told the doc in ER about Brenda's medical history including her Migraines, and that she was last hospitalized for a Migraine that wasn't treated early enough. They were more concerned about treating and alleviating Brenda's chest pain.

As soon as Brenda's doctor was notified of her admission and what treatments had been done, and ordered He immediately cancelled the order for the Nitro drip she was on when she came out of ER.

She is going to try and rest today. Her Migraine pain is lessening, but her doctor still wants it to improve more before he'll release her to come home.

Hopefully if we get the 15" of snow tonight and tomorrow the roads should be passable by noon. :praying: If they release Brenda tomorrow I'll be able to go get her.

I hesitate to ask this Cuz, but; what is abnormal?

    Abnormal Cuz? Why abnormal is anytime I say I'm going to cook! You should know that by now! :laugh;

I didn't have have to take Chris in to the doc, PTL. He wasn't really sure how he felt, but once he heard the words "thrift store" and "Walmart", he was fine!

I did good at the thrift store too. Found Jenna 3 pairs of pants/jeans and myself 4 pairs of jeans, 2 dresses I can wear without doing anything to them, 1 I'll need to add a zipper to so it'll be easier to put on and off(or maybe it'll become something totally different), Cass a pair of jeans and a couple of more things I'm going to remake into other things. Out of the 18 items I bought only two need to go back. But I'm not sure $5 is worth going all the way back out there so those may end up being made into something else too.

I also found a bag of old buttons out there for something like 99 cents. Evidently it was someone's spare button collection as it was full of extra shirt and coat buttons still in the paper envelopes. Most manufacturers don't use paper envelopes anymore. Jenna made me keep them so she could play with them. There were also two cards of mother of pearl buttons in the pack. One was a packet of six priced at 5 cents. Those buttons are older than I am!

Now I'm tired and I think I'll head off to bed.

there are dough nuts (chocolate covered and plain glazed) on the counter and coffee is making.

cindi and i took my 7 and 1 of her children to look at houses yesterday. one of them use to be a church (house 2). who ever the people are working on the "change over" did a poor job to say the least. the agent said " with as many children as you have you would be better off with house 2 as it is move in ready" ok...obviously my move in ready and his move in ready are not the same thing!!!

house #1 was wonderful. it is huge! more than enough room. even though it doesn't have electric hooked up to it, no heat or a/c, the kitchen is gutted to down to the walls (as in no cabinets or anything), no working plumbing & a potty *concreted* in to the floor of the basement, in needs new windows (there are a lot of them!) just to name a few of the things that need to be fixed....and it is more move in ready than the other place.

cindi says she will be jealous if we end up getting it...i will be twice as disappointed if we don't get it as she will be jealous if we do get it....

as luck would have it, J doesn't have to work tomorrow...i'm going to try to get in touch with the agent and set up a time to take J by to have a look. J wants to take measurements of the rooms and poke around a bit.

LOL! Tanya's house #2 was hoot. There is a cross built into the brick on one end. The ads lead you to believe it is completely remodeled into a house. NOT! The SS end of the church is only half remodeled and whoever designed the bottom floor did a horrible job. There are three bedrooms on that floor that are not much bigger than my walk in closet! You might could fit one twin size bed and a chest into them. The fourth bedroom is only a little better. That is the finished floor.

The floor above has much better space but not flooring, no plumbing, no lighting! All that is there are the walls.

The sanctuary has had nothing at all done to it, except someone moved out the pews. Even the baptistry was still there! I told Tanya her kids would have a gym with a built in pool.

House #1 was fantastic. It's about a hundred years old, huge, bigger than the church huge, and structurally sound. Even has a decent roof. (The roof of the church-house will have to be replaced soon) There was a bit of leakage into the basement, but not really enough to be a major problem. It'd have to fixed eventually, but it's clear where it's coming in and wouldn't be a terribly hard job. If I'd have found it before we moved here, I'd have had it in an instant, even with all it needs done. And yep, I'm gonna be jealous. Even so, I can see all Tanya's kids running around in it. LOL! It even has maid quarters around back. :D

While Tanya takes her DH down to look at it, my folks are headed back to the karate studio. Chris and Jenna didn't do to well on their tests yesterday and have to retest today. Matter of fact, I'd better get them dressed! We need to be there in 30 minutes.

it has been rather quiet here the past few days...how is everyone??

we didn't get to look at the house again due to me still being sick and the rain. J didn't want to take the chance of making me worse or the kids getting sick again. i am very happy to report that all the kids seem to be well and i am much better.

coffee is on...but it is too early to be fixing breakfast ;)
