Hope everyone had a Wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!

We enjoyed food and fellowship with some friends.

The coffee is hot, the fridge is stocked with cold drinks, and munchies are everywhere.

    Good morning all,
I had a great Thanksgiving. Three of the kids spent the night so their parents could do their annual Christmas Shopping today then I don't even think that they went. They couldn't find much that they wanted.
I am going to grab a Mt. Dew and some cookies to snack on until mom comes back from getting lunch and taking the kiddos home.
    Have a great weekend!

YAWN - Good afternoon all!! Today is a day of recovery. LOL!! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and our Chinese students were great. They really enjoyed their first taste of a LOT of things and we all got along well. But I'm cooked out. Made a big American breakfast, the Thanksgiving dinner, then I made homemade cream of turkey soup last night. I told Bob I'm not cooking - we'll have Chinese food for dinner instead! ROTFL! But now it looks like we're going to a friend's house to relax and visit with their son and daughter in law who we had in our college group a bunch of years ago.

I left a batch of soup in the fridge - I made way too much. Enjoy it! LOL!

Add a stretch to that yawn for me, Ann.

We had a nice quiet day full of cooking and eating and eating and...well you get the idea! The yesterday evening a friend brought her mother over with their serger (fancy sewing machine) to see if I could make it work again. It just needed a different type needle.

Today is not so quiet. Tanya's Amy is here playing with Jenna. Cade is here playing with Chris. Tanya's oldest will probably come later to spend the night with Cass who is presently lost in the after Thanksgiving shopping rush with her Nanny. T got pegged to pick up a ladder for his dad, and then came through and asked did we have enough traffic moving through the house and was I planning on fixing anymore sewing machines tonight. Being the sweet wife I am I told him no, but I did have a friend who needed some buttonholes put in. :D Then the exterminator came. T then gave up his idea of playing the grouch and sleeping on the couch all day (encouraged of course by a Whopper with cheese) and told the boys to go get the girls so they could beat up on them some playing Halo. My DH knows how to go with flow. :applause:

I was cutting out blouses that I need to have sewn by Monday evening, but then I got hungry and came in for a cup of hot chocolate and a piece of pecan pie. I really should get back to cutting, the hardest to fit blouse is cut, the next hardest is halfway cut and the other two just go by the pattern. Unfortunately, I've sat down and don't know if I can get back up! (This is the danger with eating to much pecan pie)

Hope everyone is enjoying their Thanksgiving Day weekend!

Yawn...Stretch...POP!!!! [there goes a hip-what I get for trying to keep up with you young chicks.]

Yesterday was food, football, food, football, food, games, etc. The only nice thing is that we have the leftovers to last us for awhile now. Turkey sandwiches, turkey soup, turkey salad, hmmmm I wonder how turkey cheesecake would go over? Nah, guess I better stick with what I know.

Fortunately none of us are "4am Commandos." I have never understood the rush people get by shopping at 4am the day after Thanksgiving. It has to be more than monetary.

I really wish I had the ability to make crafts and things. I marvel at what people are able to create with their hands and imaginations. Cooking is nice, but it is so temporary. You plow through a dinner and dessert and then what? Everything is gone, like it never even existed [with the exception of "a minute on the lips-a liftime on the hips".]

The last time I took a "gifts inventory" it indicated that my gifts are knowledge, hospitality, and service. [Isn't Gluttony listed as a gift in the NIV?] This may sound crazy, coming from me this isn't new I know; but I get a sense of joy and accomplishment when I see somebody enjoy a meal I have prepared. True, sometimes my only compliment is a hastily, covered belch, but to me it is worth it.

Today is relaxing and kicking back. The Gkids go to their Dad's this weekend so it'll be relatively quiet around here.

The bank the sellers are dealing with has ordered an asessment of the house and property. Seems to me this would have been done before they put it on the market but what do I know?

Guess what dinner tonight is going to be? To anybody who can't guess, I have an original Van Gogh painting you might like to purchase...it's one of the very few where Van Gogh actually typed his signature.

Dinner tonight is Stuffed Turkey Pitas with Cranberry Mustard and Blue Cheese, Mashed Potatoes and Cauliflower with Sour Cream, and Chocolate Cinnamon Cake. True, it's leftovers...just edited a little to not look like leftovers, I'm no different than any of you.

I agree with you 100% Tater, however; the last time I did that my family looked at me like I'd opened a can of dog food and served it to them. So I change it a little and they eat it. Sometimes it helps to be a little creative [notice I said "a little".]

    Morning all,
It's a beautiful day... what I can see of it-it's still dark! I am up and I have too much to do today to not be rested. Oh well, I need to get the tree put up, the neices and nephews are coming this afternoon, and we will probably go to the big pow-wow that is happening today. I am not sure what else we will fit in there. I need to go check on the family cemetary and see how it looks before winter hits. I know it is supposed to snow (sounds nuts this early-snow in Oklahoma!!!!!!!!!!!) but it isn't doing anything yet so who knows. I had better go I really want to catch a nap, I am leaving some pancakes and bacon for breakfast. Y'all have a good day!

    Good morning all,

It is a cold 28º this morning. Brent and I are just heading out to do our paper route. Brrrrrrrrrrr.

Thanks for bringing in breakfast, islandgirl! I sure don't have time to fix anything today.

I'm glad we have left-overs from Thanksgiving so I don't have to cook because Brent and I are going to start painting the living room (and hopefully finish it) today so I can get my drapes back up.

We emptied the two acquariums last night. The fish spent the night in our cooler. I have to wash and rinse the rocks and remove the line of lime around the tops of both before we put the fish and water back in. We will paint the wall behind where they go first.

    Gotta run.

    HAGD!

Morning everyone! I'm stopping in while I work on the church website a little and then I'm heading out shopping. I'm hoping to make a small dent in my list. :)

It got cold here too - it was 26 when I woke up this morning! YIKES!! I was going to ride yesterday but with the sudden cold, Whirl would be a LUNATIC so I decided to skip the hospital and just relax. LOL.

    Have a great day all!

    Good Morning Everyone!

Sue, it was cold enough here this morning that ice had formed on Ava and Mishka's wading pool. Funnily enough, Ava didn't seem to want to wade in while getting her morning drink. LOL! Sally didn't care that it was cold; she was too busy romping around the yard keeping Boots from doing her business. Boots shook her off, did what she had to do and headed for the door! She doesn't like the grass or the cold. Funny puppy!

Both puppies are worn out already this morning and have sought T's protection on the couch. Seems like having 6 kids petting, pampering and playing with them is hard work! They have already figured out that if they get up next to T he'll keep the kids from bothering them while they nap. Poor sad little puppies!

I have sewing to do today and some time or other we'll probably head down to the skate park. The sun is quickly warming things up, so it should be a nice day for skateboarding.

We'll probably have some sort of leftovers ourselves today. I'm thinking maybe a nice potpie or something. It has to be something that won't take up to much time cause Auburn's playing Alabama this evening and I don't plan on watching it while I cook!

Ya'll have a nice day and

It was incredible, fantastic, and a lot of fun besides.

Kids and spouses arrived on Tuesday. Total:

    Two sons
    Two daughters
    One son-in-law
    One daughter-in-law
    Three grandchildren
    Barry and me

Eleven of us here for three days. We decorated gingerbread houses which I had made the parts to already -- that was Wednesday. Thursday we got dinner going early and played card games and such for a good part of the day. We had a wonderful dinner and then opened Christmas presents after.

I know that sounds weird, but I told the kids when they were married I would never compete for Christmas. I remember when my children were growing up and every holiday we had to have two celebrations, one with his family and then with my family, and that was totally exhausting and stressful. I hated it.

Didn't want to do the same to my kids. So our family time is Thanksgiving -- for three days we are mostly all together and it's great. Opening presents after Thanksgiving dinner was so much fun! Kids got towels with their names embroidered on from one daughter and her husband -- and that went over really, really big!

Oldest son got a pair of lion slippers -- great giant fuzzy things which he gamely wore around the house that evening and all the next day, God bless him! He got other stuff, too, but those lion slippers from his nieces were the stuff memories are made of.

The kids all got together and bought Barry and me an incredible down comforter for our bed. We LOVE it!

And games and laughter and fun.

Yesterday we took down Thanksgiving decorations and up went the Christmas tree. Oldest daughter is allergic to the pine trees so we have a nine foot artificial tree with a ton of ornaments collected over the years. Some of the most beautiful are when oldest daughter and I had to travel to Florida when she was 17 to see a specialist about her Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. We found a store that had made gorgeous ornaments out of shells and we still have the six we bought that day.

And more games and card games. Tri-Ominoes, Monopoly, Hand and Foot, -- I can't remember them all.

And today they are all scattered back to their homes. We are exhausted but still grinning and the washing machine is working overtime to catch up on sheets and towels and such.

It's a little past 8:30 here and if you will excuse me, I think I'm going to bed!

But wanted to share this lovely incredible time we had.

    God bless you all.

Helen - It sounds like you had a wonderful time!!

I'm off to go shoe shopping. I need a pair of black winter shoes (probably pumps) that actually fit my feet. Most of my shoes are from 20 years ago when I worked BEFORE I had kids and BEFORE I gained a 1/2 a shoe size and 40 lbs. LOL!! I have a $10 coupon that expires today so off I go! Wish me luck! LOL!

    Good Monday Morning Everyone!

Helen, sounds like a wonderful week to me! We also enjoy Thankgiving best, cause on Thanksgiving it is just us. Christmas spilts us into too many directions. I'm expecting you critters thought all the extra attention was great too!

My own new girls are sprawled out asleep next to Jenna's giant stuffed horse. Evidently getting up at 6 is too early for them. We've been sleeping until at least 7 or 7:30 this past week. (stupid internal clocks wouldn't let us sleep longer)

Today is back to school and back to work. I have 2 blouses to make this morning and 4 to make button loops, put on buttons and press before this evening. The house, that stayed clean through Thanksgiving and Friday is a wreck this morning. I don't know what happened. I have several loads of living room throws and quilts to wash plus my own bedroom set. Good thing I have simple supper planned!

Ann, how'd your shoe shopping go? I absolutely hate shoe shopping, but I've about figured out I need a new pair of slip ons that aren't sandels to wear for every day. I have tennis shoes, but I've gotten really spoiled to sliding my foot into a pair of heelless sandels and don't want to give that up. I also don't want to look silly wearing socks with my sandels. :D

Worse than shoe shopping for me is shoe shopping for T! He needs a 10 1/2 wide shoe. Should be simple, but he won't wear anything decorated with tassel (calls them tulips) and he thinks tying shoes is a waste of time. He wants a slip on. We've been looking for him a pair for 6 weeks now. Still haven't found one that suits him. Maybe we have started soon enough to find him a new pair before the ones he's wearing fall off his feet in tatters.

    Ya'll have a good day!

MK - We had gotten Robby a GREAT pair of shoes that he LOVES - and they came not only in wide but extra wide! They are Merrills and are brown suede slip-ons and he wears them constantly. I think I got them from Stride Rite.

Shoe shopping was tortuous but we were successful. I wanted a pair of shoes that were dressy for the winter but with closed toe and I found a pair that fit well. I also found a pair of suede clogs that are SO cute and I had to get those. Nicole got a pair of dress shoes too. We hit Starbucks on the way home for some expensive drinks so it was fun. LOL!! But now I'm done for the rest of the winter for shoes (Whew!!)

Today is rainy so no riding for me. We're doing school and I'm doing laundry and trying to keep this house as nice as it was for Thanksgiving. If I can keep it up, it will be great! Poor Bob is working today because the fire inspection is being done at church on Thursday for the new addition so it's "all hands on deck" to finish up the small projects that are left so we can pass. We're HOPING to be in the new building within the next 2-3 months which would be great. We broke ground on this new addition 5 years ago! Wow!! But we did a lot of the work in house so it took WAY longer than it would have if we hired out but then again, we saved atleast $2 million on the work. Not bad!!

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

It is 34 and cloudy here. We had some snow flurries last night, and we're supposed to have a rain/snow mix this afternoon.

Cuz and Ann:Good thing you don't live here in Michigan. Neither of you would be wearing sandals in November I guarantee you.

All we know about the house is that the seller's bank has our offer. They've ordered another assessment of the house/property. They can't assess it higher then it is right now. We're hoping they assess it lower than it is now, that could help with our offer. If we don't get it - then it wasn't in God's will.

Not much going on around here right now. That seems strange to say.

I brought in Homemade Vegetable Beef Soup, Hot Beef Sandwiches, and Chocolate-Cherry Bread Pudding. Enjoy.

At Thanksgiving we draw names to see who gives Christmas gifts to whom. Sure saves on shopping I'll tell 'ya. The Gkids are exempt from the names draw. Seems like they get more gifts then anybody. LOL!!

    Evening all,
Ann: Glad to see your shoe shopping was successful. I get to do that along with my other shopping on Friday.
Helen: Glad that you had a good time with your family.
The three of us girls draw names and the hubbys buy for each other since there is only two of them. The kids are exempt as are mom and dad. Mom told my sisters and I that this year she wants her kitchen painted for Christmas. I am not sure what color we are going to go with yet, I am going to paint my bathroom this weekend. I have to finish taking the wallpaper down this week so I can get it done. There isn't that much to paint so it shouldn't take long. The vanity is going to take longer than anything. It goes the entire length of the bathroom. I had better go, tommorrow is a busy day at work and I still have to fold laundry.
    Y'all have a good day.

Rob - They're CLOGS - not sandals! Clogs are closed toe, open backed but they're snuggly warm. :) Trust me - my feet FREEZE in the winter - certainly no sandals here! LOL!

I'm stopping in for a cup of hot chocolate. Just came from the barn checking on old Starr. He's off his feed and I'm worried about him. The vet is coming in the morning to check on him. My guess is that there is either a problem with a tooth or the feed. We'll see.

Oh - here's a picture of my whole family and the two Chinese students we hosted for Thanksgiving.

Lauren (17) is on the left then Nicole (15) is right next to her. Robby (7) is in front of Nicole. Bob and I are in the middle and I'm holding Joanna (4). On the right are Angela (Junying) and Jennifer (Fei).
