Good Morning Everybody,

Sue, have Dale's test results come back yet, have they identified what type of fluid or possibly what caused it? You're both still in my thoughts and prayers.


Would you believe it we've had frost warnings for the last 3 nights?


Boy, when my Cuz decides to cook she does it right, Chicken and Dressing!!!


I brought in Waffles, Eggs, Sausage, Bacon, and Sausage Gravy and Biscuits. Enjoy.


Brenda and I are visiting a church in our area today that she attended for a short time during her divorce. Driving 20 miles round trip is sure a lot easier on the wallet than a 50 mile round trip.


We've kept Caydon since Thursday, and my Son will be picking him up this afternoon. Sure seems strange having a newborn in the house again, and NO, We don't want another child. Why can't you have Grandchildren first?


Time to make breakfast and then get ready for church.

WOW! You better thank Caydon's mommy, she isn't as stingy as I am with babies. Leah is 5 months old and my mother has had her one time without me there...and that wouldn't have happened if my older children hadn't of been there. Yep, I am baby stingy. Kacy (3) & Todd (4) hadn't spent the night with my parents until I was in the hospital during my pregnancy with Leah.

Hubby's parents live in RI & CT so...they will never have the children over night without one/both of us. :laugh: His dad has never seen the younger 3 children. We haven't seen him since 2003. His mom got to see the younger 3 at her father's funeral back in February.

Come to think of it, my 13 yr old has only spent the night with my parents, one friend and Cindi, the 10 yr old has only spent the night with my parents and Cindi, the 8yr old, 6yr old, 4 yr old and 3 yr old have only spent the night with my parents. Guess I am just stingy with my children:laugh:

You can't have grandchildren first because you wouldn't appreciate them near as much.

Some times I wonder what it would be like to have grandparents who really wanted to be part of the children's life....

Blessed Sunday, Everyone!

Spring/summer cleaning is still underway. Somehow, it got started from the south end toward the north and the second floor down. So I have an almost clean upstairs and Jenna's room, the laundry area and the half bath are done. The center of the house is holding it's own and my room that T has occupied for the last two weeks during the day, is an absolute wreck! I'm considering doing something about it today, but I'm still in the consideration stage.

I forgot to go buy the car tags, Friday. How's that for forgetful? I'm hoping if I go tomorrow they'll waive the late fees, otherwise this will be an expensive memory lapse. I have to buy for four cars and a motorcycle.

Cass is cooking shrimp alfredo for supper she says. Anyone who dares may share!

Good Morning Everybody,

If you really have all that excess energy Cuz, you can come and clean my house.

Today the high is forecasted to hit 90. This is the weather we wish for in January.

The church we visited yesterday was really nice. The people were friendly, the message was timely and revelant and the gospel was preached. This is the only Baptist church in our area and we plan on visiting again.

Since nobody brought in breakfast, I will. Pancakes, Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, and Hash Brown Potatoes. Enjoy.

Today is grocery shopping. We want to get it done before it's too hot.

Dale is feeling better, still not sure when he will get to come home.

I'm going carpet shopping this morning. I want to carpet his bedroom while he's in the hospital.

Also am going through the cabinets and getting rid of any food we cannot eat on a diabetic diet.

Off to The Carpet House, then down to the hospital.

Good Morning Everyone!

Cuz, ya'll had frost warnings last week and now the temps are hitting 90? Have you moved to Alabama while my back was turned? :laugh:

I'd be glad to clean your house, but I'm not done with mine yet! T who is on vacation most of this week, woke up at the unfashionable hour of 6 this morning and woke me up before 8. I told him that early rising meant he had energy to spare and I had things to accomplish! I'm thinkin' he won't wake me up tomorrow!

Sue, you are a woman after my own heart. Going to buy new carpet while Dale's gone and can't do anything about it! LOL!

Seriously, I'm glad Dale is better and you have fun shopping for carpet. Our HomeDepot has some nice floorings, you might want to try them if there's one convenient.

Today, since T has all this energy, we are going to clean the upstairs closet (6 feet wide by 20 feet long), work on the plumbing under the sink in the half bath and if he still has any energy left, I'm going to let him get out the chainsaw and cut down some straggly trees that are growing down by the fence line.

Sue - I hope Dale begins to recover well and can be home soon.

Well, today is a day to do some chores around the house and then I'm riding early. We have our "Presentation Night" at church tonight for the homeschool group (it's our moving up ceremony), and I have to be there at a quarter to six, so I need to get riding early. Hopefully I can pull it all off tonight! I know they DO want me to shower before I come.

Good Afternoon Everybody,

It is 80 degrees and humid outside, we have strong storm forecast for this afternoon and tonight.

I made a boo-boo yesterday. My oldest Grandson Jacob came home and told me that he had got detention for today because a teacher swore at him and he [Jacob] told him that he didn't have to put up with that and he got up and went up to the Principal's office to complain. He has detention for today because Jacob didn't ask the teacher's permission to go up to the office. Jacob knows how I feel about this, and he answered the same way I would have to the teacher; so today at 3pm I'm going up to the school and I'll do the detention since Jacob was just following what he knew I would do in that situation. This is not an un-common event with this particular teacher and I'm going to ask the principal just what is going to happen to this loud mouth, and God help her if she gives me the same lip that she gives the students.

Tomorrow morning I have to go into town to have some bloodwork done and get some prescriptions refilled.

Undecided about dinner tonight. I'm thinking about Bistro Beef and Mushrooms, Garlicky Mashed Potatoes, Sausage and White Beans, and Orange Marmalade Creme Brulee for dessert.

An elementary school teacher swore at a student?????

Let Jacob do the dentention with you. You just being there with him will score major points with his fellow students.

Then have a nice discussion with the principal and tell her you will be scheduling a meeting with the superintendent to discuss the issue of a teacher using foul language in the classroom.

Jacob needs to do the detention so he understands he must respect the teacher's authority even if he/she is wrong.

He also needs to be part of the meeting with the superintendent so that he learns the proper steps to be taken when there is an issue of this nature.

If the problem(with the teacher) continued, my next stop would be to be place on the adgenda for the next school board meeting where we would present the issue publically along with the issue of parents not being taken seriously by school administration.

Things are boring around here. I have some bad leg pains (arthritis, big C and muscle spasms) keeping me in the recliner.
The kiddos are pretty helpful with what they can do.
Had two treatments with the new chemo and my hair is coming out fast.:tear:

I'm back from detention. I had a long talk with the principal about this particular teacher. Turns out there have been a lot of complaints about the profanity being used.

The teacher has got away with it for years because she's tenured, well guess what, tenure doesn't mean anything to me. There is a problem and the school system needs to deal with it. I was told that this teacher is considering retirement before next year and I made a point of telling the principal that I would see to it that a meeting with the teacher, the principal, Jacob and I and the superintendant would be held, and a solution will be found one way or another. I think it's time that this loser is strongly encouraged to take an early retirement.

I was nice, I was polite, but the principal knew that I meant business and that I'm not going to run away and hide my head in the sand while this loser continues to swear at students.

Jacob and I had a pleasant detention. We sat and read our Bibles, and I answered some questions that Jacob had. Jacob understands that he didn't follow the right procedure when he left the class, and that the teacher is in charge [and responsible for the language she uses.] I wasn't really interested in making any points with the other students, I just wanted the school to realize that they had done wrong, and maybe the kids have to endure their being gutless, but I don't.

Cuz, it doesn't matter if you wanted to make an impression on the other kids. You already did. I'm just betting that tomorrow when Jacob goes into to school it'll be big news that his granddaddy was there for him, even if he(Jacob) was in trouble. You have no idea how you impressed every kid that saw you there.

Tenure only goes so far in protecting a bad teacher. Set up your meeting with the superintendent. Tell him you are aware that there have already been complaints about this teacher's "verbal abuse". Have in your hand a letter to the local school board (one copy for each board member), stating exactly what language has been directed toward your grandson and what also what language he was subjected to just by sitting in this persons classroom. Tell them that the very next instance of verbal abuse/cursing by this teacher in front of your grandson will result your making a complaint to the state board of education.

You must be very careful to instruct Jacob that if he thinks the teacher is "picking on him" because of your complaints that he tells you immediately upon coming home that day and that he NOT do anything to provoke her or to retatilate. If she does start picking on him, then it is time to start showing up at lunch time and walking him to the classroom in the morning and waiting at the door for the bell to ring in the pm. If they ask why, tell them you are making sure that Jacob finishes the year on a good note. This way, you will show the school and this teacher that you are serious.

Not much a school likes better than a parent who cares.

It is 80 here right now headed for a high of 92 with strong storms predicted for this afternoon.

Thanks for the great advice Cuz! I called the Superintendent's office this morning and I have an appointment with her next week. I will make sure and tell Jacob about letting me know first if this teacher starts picking on him, if need be I'll be in the classroom with him to make sure she doesn't mouth off. I'll talk to the Superintendent and if need be the school board to urge them to strongly advise this teacher to act on her idea of retiring.

Thank you for your nice comments about making an impression on the other students, but I didn't really do anything that you or anybody else would'nt do. If she wants to mouth off to me that's fine I can deal with that, but; when she is supposed to be teaching these kids and setting an example of good behavior and a willingness to learn and she decides to exercise her four-letter vocabulary that is going to stop. She can bad mouth me all over town if she wants to, but I won't tolerate her swearing at my Grandson.

I'm typing up a letter for the Superintendent and for each school board member that details her behavior in class. Please know that I'm not on a "witch hunt" and I have no desire to harm this woman; but, she is responsible for her actions and remarks in class. That is a point that needs to be brought home to her with authority.

I've had this same problem with a teacher before. Took her two or three more years to retire but when Cass was in her classroom she kept her mouth clean and sweet! She was a middle school teacher though and not elementary. I can almost excuse a middle school teacher for slipping every now and again. An elementary teacher has no business using that sort of language.

Cuz, if someone else had already complained properly you wouldn't have to. It's a sad fact that most parents are "afraid of making things worse" and won't stand up for their children. Been there and done that too.

Good Evening Everybody,

This teacher is in Middle School [Jacob is in 8th grade.] She transferred into the middle school from the elementary school several years ago. As I understand it, the elementary school 'breathed a sigh of relief" when she transferred.

I was telling Jacob what he should do [and not do] if she tees off on him again. I've had several calls from parents that have had problems with this teacher, they've all made complaints but to no effect. I guess there have been several calls and complaints made to the Principal and the Superintendent. Nice to know that others feel the way I do, and that I'm not over-reacting.

Now that the superintendent and principal have received many complaints perhaps she'll have more incentive to encourage this teacher to solidify her plans to perhaps retire.

One teacher told Jacob today that he [the teacher] had never seen a parent sit in detention with a student. Frankly, I find that hard to believe but that's what he said. Jacob said that the teacher more-or-less ignored him today and didn't even speak or look at him. Be nice if she could continue that until the end of school next week.

This is something you almost have to experience to know how to effectively deal with the situation without over-reacting and creating more problems.

LOL Cuz! This is the usual reaction I get when I walk into the school too. I daresay there will be no more trouble from this teacher for the next week and then you get to go to a whole new school next year!

High school in our case was much, much better than middle school. Middle school left such a bad taste in my mouth that we aren't doing middle school anymore. Home schooling is a wonderful thing.

Well, today is Dale's 12th day in the hospital and no chance of coming home before next week sometime.

He is feeling much better, but they repositioned the tube and put it deeper into his lung yesterday and he had another treatment. They won't let him come home until they stop getting fluid out of it.

It has been hard visiting him with all the tornado warnings, watches, thunderstorms, flooding, high winds, etc. It is raining now, but I don't think we have any warnings out, so I am going down this morning.

FOG: i had a problem with one of the teachers at middle school. it was the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak. at the end of that school yr we said :wavey: see ya to the public school system all together.:thumbs:
