Spinach - Sometimes we all need to take a day to rest. I hope you enjoyed your nap!

Today is a lousy day here in NY. Cold, wet, rainy. I'm not leaving the house today so I'll just be doing household chores and homeschooling. I have planned chicken pot pie for dinner and that's pretty easy so it should be a nice day around here. :)

Oh it was so nice! Our missions pastor formerly owned a garage door company and he came over last night to fix our garage door opener! I now don't need to get out of the car again to get in the garage! Woo-hoo!! In exchange, DH will go to his house to fix his computer since DH was formerly a computer engineer. LOVE when the body works together in their strengths. :D

It was quite foggy last night and now ice is everywhere. It's beautiful! It's on tree limbs, bushes, and even fences. It's like a picture of January in any calendar.

Not that it's surprising, but it's cold and white here. The temp is dropping ever so slowly, it's negative 47 right now, will get to -54 around nine, then heat right on up to -50 around sunrise, which will happen around 10:40 am. By sunset (around 3:15 pm) it'll have warmed up to -38, at which time we'll have to break out the iced tea and don short pants and tank tops to deal with the heat wave. :tongue3:

Not much planned for the day. Gonna take a test, stop at the store and see if I can find my yogurt, and probably sleep the rest of the time. Seems I can't stay awake more than around 6 hours at a time without a nap lately.

Think I'll go have some breakfast and go to bed. That way I won't have to have breakfast when I wake up. Makes sense, right? hehe (it's 3:30 am)
Kinda like in that one Chronicles of Narnia book where those creatures did dishes before dinner and I forget what they did to the chickens...fed 'em boiled water so they'd lay hard boiled eggs or shook them so they'd lay scrambled ones? Whatever it was, it was funny!

I have to say - I haven't had broken sleep like last night in a long time and it's getting harder and harder to handle as I get older. Joanna (6) had nighmares and had be up at 2:30 and 3:30 AM. I'm beat!!

Please pray for AJ - a member of this board. He's in a bad place right now and is thinking of doing something horrible. Pray for God to intervene and help him. I wish there was more I can do but I just don't know anyone in his area. He really needs our intercession right now.

    Good morning everyone!

Just popping in for a cuppa before I go back to deep cleaning the house (again). I can't seem to stem the tide of one stomach virus after another, especially for Chris. So, I'm cleaning again and this time I'm doing it myself. I've discovered things I thought the kids did weren't done the way they should have been done. At least there isn't any clutter to speak of. That I dealt with before the holidays. Just lots of washing walls and floors and spraying things down with lysol.

    Ya'll have a good day!

It's 11:00am here and we're finished with school for the day. We played Scrabble. Fridays are my favorite!

Today I plan on doing a bit of laundry, cleaning the bathroom, scrubbing a rug, and cooking some supper.

I'm beginning to feel the pressure of time. We are to move back into our house, ready or not, in less than 2 weeks. In that time I want to deep-clean my friend's house before she returns from furlough. I HATE moving. That's one thing about Heaven that means so much to me----NO MORE PACKING, HAULING, AND UNPACKING LUGGAGE!!!!! :)

This weekend promises to be quite busy because of the above. I'm ready to move back home, but I dread everything in between.

Have a good day and a good weekend, everyone!

Well today is dreaded tax day. I will go pay the first half of our property taxes today. I think I'll go cry afterwards. LOL I'm sure I will pay quite a bit more today with 1/2 the taxes AND our exeptions than you guys pay in a year or two! OY!!

After that, I'll head on up to church to put together the service and work a bit on the website. I need to be home by around 2 to let my daughter get up to church (she'll be watching the littles) to do some work herself.

I'm not sure what dinner will be. I had planned meatloaf last night but they didn't have the meatloaf mix at the grocery store (nor the ground pork and veal I need to make the mix myself) so I made ravioli instead. That was the plan for tonight. I don't want to make a whole meatloaf for just hubby, the kids and me (unless hubby still wants it) so I'll try to figure out something else. Tomorrow we're in for a good amount of snow so I plan to make a nice hearty Irish stew for dinner then. :)

Have a wonderful day everyone! Please continue to pray for AJ. We see some good things happening and he really just still needs God's hand on his life. Thanks!

    Good Morning Everyone!

Today is Home Ec day for Chris, meaning he gets to help me make Walmart's payroll! Sounds exciting doesn't it.

Then it will be back home to review the Chemistry work Chris has been doing all fall. I want to get that wrapped up so we can work on some other stuff that needs to be done before I make out his report card.

My deep cleaning is well on its way to getting done. Chris is finally feeling better. And the sun is shining! Not a bad way to end the week.

Ya'll have a good day. If you are lucky you will find a fresh loaf of banana bread on the counter this afternoon.

    Good evening all,
I am just dropping in for a minute. I was at work for over 10 hours today and I didn't really ever slow down. I brought in some yummy brownies and some sugar free vanilla ice cream. Help yourselves. I am heading to the couch to put my feet up!

I'm teething, I swear. My botom left wisdom tooth has decided to grow a little more and is putting such pressure on the next 5-6 teeth. I understand why babies get so grouchy when they're teething! My Mom told me this was God's way of telling me I need more wisdom. LOL!

Today is another day indoors. I dream of Spring. For now, though, I'll get some cleaning done.

Hot chocolate is on the woodstove :)

Good morning folks! Just want to let you know that Lenke and I are now officially living in Tar Hill Country in the famous city of Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg. I can tell you, moving is no fun anymore and we are still unpacking boxes after a week. But finally we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and we are enjoying the closeness of our three grandchildren - only 3.4 miles from our house. Hope you all bundled up and warm on this rather cool day of January 9th. Wishing you all a belated Happy New Year in the Lord! :type:

    Hello my dear Brother Barnabas,

How good to hear from you, mate. Bless. So now you are in North Carolina? That is Tar Heel country, innit? Your getting closer to my daughter in Georgia.

The last time I moved was 36 years ago and still have about 40 boxes that haven't been opened in that many years.......makes the next move easier; already packed.

Take care, my friend, and do drop by more often when you get settled in.

    Cheers, and bless,

    Jim

    Barnabas,

I do hope you will be very happy in your new home. We have friends in North Carolina - a lovely place to live.

We too are contemplating another house move - but we are waiting on the Lord as we are not too sure what to do at the moment.

    Blessings

    Hello Jim

Of all the house moves we have made in 35 years of marriage, we have never completely unpacked either.

We are currently on a mission to declutter rather than take it all with us again. We really have no idea what is in some of the boxes in the loft.
Needless to say the charity shops here love us

    Blessings

    Sheila

I hated moving. Really hated it. But then again, we moved into a major fixer-upper house, I found out I was pregnant with #2 the morning we moved and I had an 18 month old. NOT ingredients for a move. But we're happy here. We've made a lot of memories in the last 17 years here. :)

Today we were supposed to get some big snow but now they've downgraded it to 1-3 inches. :( I really want some BIG snow but I guess I'll have to just accept this. SIGH Oh well. I'm going to work on cleaning up around here and getting some laundry done. I also need to get some work done on the church website. Tonight we'll have DD's "boyfriend" over (remember, they're not dating yet but what else do I call him??) and my oldest will be in the city with friends. So it should be a quiet day. :)

Thanks for your good wishes folks!

Bro. Jim, I had so many boxes in my two HUGE closets in NYC that when I started to shread those old records from businesses, ministry endeavors, churches we served, and private papers - at the last count it was 94 compressed "cross-cut" shredded papers. The Superintendent of the building thought that I have a private business going on in my apartment.... I figured (finally) that if I could miss those things for the past 40-45 years, without looking at them, they are not as important as I thought they were. So, I refused to carry with us down South.

Sheila, we are quite happy about the move. Last fall, when we first contemplated the move, we have seen about two dozen or more houses, but the moment we walked into this one, Lenke said quietly to me, "I like this one. This will be our future home." And so it was.

Ann, that move must have been quite memorable for you with an 18 month old around and another one on the way. But I guess you wouldn't change it for the world. Those are precious memories. :type:

Barnabas, I donated about 5,000 books to a local Bible College, They were packed in boxes, and I still head towards my shelves looking for one of those books.

    Cheers,

    Jim

You ...pant...have so many books that you donated...pant...5,000?

    Oh wow.

Can I be your friend? The one you always think of when you say to yourself "Hmm, I have 5,000 books here that have got to go..."

    I love books!

I hate moving! As a missionary it seems like I live in perpetual "moving". ARGH! "Grant me the serenity..."

I'm pretty sure I have an impacted wisdom tooth. The pain is worse today. I don't think I will be able to eat, but I'm hungry. Talk about a double-dose of grouchiness!
