Bro. Jim, during our frist move out of Manhattan, I also gave away thousands of books (do not know the exact count). Gave most to our church for the library, the rest to our son-in-law who was in the ministry. Now when we moved out of NYC I again gave away many of my books. In our church, people were jumping all over them and the three box-full disappeared pretty fast. I kept only the bare essentials of about 250.

Gina, where were you when I was pondering about where to distribute my books? :)

Spinach, sorry about your tooth ache. Be sure you chop up your meals in the blender and try to live on liquid stuff until it is taken care of. I feel your pain! :type:

Spinach, I had to have 3 impacted wisdom teeth cut out at once. (too far back, trying to come in over bone) Get it checked right away please! If it keeps trying to come in and it's impacted, it could mis-align your whole jaw, drain your car of essential fuels, then go back in time and knock your great great Gramma down. Those things are MEAN!

Barnabas, the girls and I just found out last week that we might be headed to New York to see their uncle and I was thinking of pm'ing you when I found out for sure, but now you MOVED? You didn't have to do all that, you could have just said no! :tongue3: I'm glad you're near family though, that's great!

There has been a moose cutting across the driveway and walking through the neighbor's yard, so now I open the front door and peek around before going outside, expecting it to be standing there staring at me. Well, maybe not expecting because if it really was, I'd jump 50 feet!

We love books too. One of the main criteria for a new house is that it will have to accommodate our books!!

My books, mostly theological, church history and commentaries, went to the National Native Bible College, where fellow natives are trained in ministry. I also help write their correspondence courses. It is a wonderful ministry, even if it isn't Baptist.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Love books here too. Between DH being a pastor, me loving books and homeschooling, we need more bookshelves. I just started reading The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment by Tim Challies and it's looking to be a very good read.

Well, it's cold here. We had snow yesterday that was originally supposed to be 4-6" but then it switched over to freezing rain and we had a small ice storm! It was pretty but it sure made for a bad church parking lot. I'm shocked no one fell. It caught us all completely off guard! But we're better now - the roads thawed which is good since by the end of the week, we'll be in the teens for high temps. BRRRR!!!!!!

Well, I'm heading out to dinner in a few. I helped to do a mailing for a Christian girl's camp this afternoon and just got home from church a bit ago. That was a LONG day!

I left some crumb cake on the counter. Enjoy it!

My tooth is even worse today---didn't think it could be. I can't talk, for which my kids are thankful. My oldest child got to teach school today and he was excited. He had all kinds of creative ideas.

I'm giving myself until Saturday to make a decision on this tooth. I am not confident in the medical community here, but may have to take the chance should this thing not subside. I could go to the country north of us where I know of a good dentist, but our life is so very busy right now and though I'm sure we could fit it in, I don't want to be the cause of added stress. I could fly to the States and have it removed, but that would bring a huge amount of family stress. For now, I'm taking Ibuprofen, resting, not doing much eating, waiting and praying.

My husband is making great strides on our house. We're set to move back in it a week from Wednesday. I can't wait to see it. It was in such poor condition and I'm told that when we move back, the walls will have a nice, whit plaster on them. That is such an improvement! I'm proud of his hard work!

I'm cooking some chili today. It's vegetarian. Can you smell it? It's perfect for such a cold day!

    Have a good day, everyone!

    Morning all,
Spinach: Take care of that tooth! You don't want that nastiness getting worse!
I can't stay but a minute I am taking the kiddos to school for mom because she is sick and then I am off work long enough to go to the eye doctor. I hopefully will be at work before all the breakfast dishes are done!I had better go, I think I just heard mom tell one of the kids to come find me! :godisgood:

    Good morning strangers! LOL

Sorry I have been absent for so long. It has been a very busy time around here, to say the least!

Thank you all for keeping the Coffee House going in my absence. I knew you would. :)

I still may not make it in every day, but I'm going to try harder.

    Love you all!
    Great Grandma §ue :)

    Good Morning Everybody,

WOW!! I'm away for a few days and the Coffeehouse corner of the BB Universe gets turned on it's ear: Spinach has dental problems, Gina is gettin' up close and personal with a moose, Barnabas has left for North Carolina, Jim is supplying libraries, Ann has an ice storm, my long-lost Cuz checks in, Sheila and Tanya look in so we know they're still alive, and the famous Sue makes a guest appearance.

I've been down with a combination cold-like flu. It's not often I'm right down in bed but I was this time. I'd be up long enough to do laundry and help Brenda and the Gkids put in leftovers for meals then I'd retreat to bed again. Finally got to feeling a bit better and came down with a migraine. :BangHead:

Got our annual "big snow" the other day. We easily have more than a foot of snow on the ground [anybody wants some I'll pm it to you,] needless to say I know what I'll be doing today [thank God the snow blower works.]

The Gkids have told me [repeatedly] that they don't like leftovers and want some real food again [their term for my doing the cooking.] So tonight I'll make stew and biscuits, roasted vegetables, and deep-dish apple pie to keep the Gkids and Brenda full and contented, and at-bay.

I brought in Pancakes, Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Home Fries and Sausage Gravy and Biscuits for anybody who's hungry. Enjoy.

Time to go attack the snow.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Sue, Barnabas and Jim it is good to see you posting again. (said with tongue firmly in cheek cause I haven't been posting much myself here lately!)

Well, the holidays are over and life is back to normal. I have 2 sick kids this morning. Cass has a migraine, Jenna has a stomach ache that she has complained about since last night and I'm betting they both have the stomach virus that Chris had this time last week. This is only about the 4th or 5th one of these we've had since school started in August. And this in spite of two rounds of deep cleaning and spraying things down with Lysol!

Anyhow, since the house is so clean I've already done the morning chores and it is only 8:30! It's T's fault, he had to be to work early so I was up at 5. Poor Chris. He won't have any break time in school today, casue I have nothing to distract me. :D We don't have time for distractions anyhow. I have a lot I want him to accomplish before I set his report card in stone. Report cards are due by the 31st.

    Ya'll have a good day!

Welcome back Sue!! Good to see you again.

Spinach - I'd take the time to go to the good dentist. I know it's a pain now but in the long run, your health is important. Tooth infections can go far in a body and cause a lot of trouble. Most likely, the least expensive thing would be to have the tooth pulled. To do a root canal and cap would be very costly and take a long time. UGH - I hate tooth issues (says the one with the big hole in her tooth from where it broke but she is afraid to go to the dentist since it doesn't hurt too much).

Today finds me doing the wild and crazy: chores and homeschooling. Maybe if I say it's wild and crazy, it will be more interesting?? LOL I'm due to go riding today but we had a lot of ice Saturday night and the ground is not looking too good. I'm thinking I'm done riding for a while - but we'll see what conditions are like around 3:30 when I get there.

The tooth itself is often the indication of an underlying situation or infection and can lead to major problems down the road. These infections can cause major problems such as strokes. Dental care, whilst expensive, may be the cheapest health care issue.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Spinach, my doctor has told me I can take tylenol and ibuprofen together. It's hard on your body, but the combination does give more relief for severe pain than one of them alone and I've decided at times that it's worth it!

It's birthday day here for one of my girls! She wants chili for dinner, but we're waiting until the weekend to do something special for her birthday.

She already has her present from me. A purse with earth tone stripes, she did that teenager girl squeal and called her friends to describe it in detail.

Agree with Barnabas, that was GREAT FoG! LOL!
And Mr. Moose is still hanging out, possibly seeing Mrs. Moose and baby, who are hanging out further down the road or trying to escape the possible Mr. Wolf! Haven't seen the wolf, but saw tracks that MAY have been one. (and heard growls at night a few times)

I'm still here. Same old story. Thanks for the prayers, y'all!

It's so cold here! The trees are beautiful, though, with all the ice. I'm staying close to the woodstove.

I'm preparing to move in a week. I hate moving, but will be glad to get back in my own house.

    Have a good day, everyone!

Hah! I'm here two days in a row! :)

I'm not sticking my nose outside today. It is 10ºF and getting colder. We have a very strong wind blowing and we're under a blizzard watch!

I think a big pot of chili, and pumpkin pie, are in order for supper tonight! I'll drop off the left-overs for those who will not be cooking today.

Got laundry to do. Everyone stay safe!

§ue checking in from the frozen midwest. [IMG]

Gina, it must be grand having the Zoo at your front yard! By the way, when you're going to NYC be sore to say hello to the folks over there for me.

Spianch, wishing you God's speed on your move. And be sure you take care of that tooth ache of yours. :)

Lady Sue, or should I say, Lady of the House (the Coffee House that is), it is good to see you. I am sorry about the frigid weather you are having. Lenke and I are enjoying a balmy 43 degrees, and it is going up to 50. We like the milder weather. :type:

Well, good morning! It's a beautiful day, and has warmed up to the negative teens. HEAT WAVE!

On my way out to the doctor, who called to tell me to come in and have a "chat" about my most recent bloodwork.

I don't see breakfast here so I guess I'll have to stop by McDonald's on my way back for everyone!
