Mr. Obama took the time to shake the hand of a young girl working a stall along the motorcade as she served him an Obama Tail,,,,a special take on the Beaver Tails so popular in Ottawa. The girl was so impressed she was showing off "the hand" that shook Mr. Obama's hand on national television.

We are impressed. He is the best American ambassador in a long time, and he was impressed with Canada.

He sure beats some of the voices in here, I will tell you.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Good Morning Everybody,

Sorry I haven't been on here for awhile. I started out with a cold and before long I had full-blown bronchitis. The only reason I'm not in the hospital is because they have no room. They are absolutely packed with people with this cold-flu-bronchitis ailment. So I'm at home on antibiotics, decongestants, and with a vaporizer going 24/7. Thankfully it's quiet during the day with the Gkids in school.

Fortunately I'd gone to the store for groceries and supplies before I came down with this. We're just having simple meals until I get over this.

Glad you enjoy Obama's visit Jim. One of the biggest problems with him is that he gets everybody looking at his right hand, so nobody looks at what he's doing with his left hand. I heard somebody say that Americans were tired of being thought to be stupid by the rest of the world...so they elected Obama and removed all doubt.

I'll try to check back in when I can.

It's chilly and windy here on Long Island today. I'm going to head out in a few to take care of the horses and then come back home to do laundry and some straightening up. My 16 year old has some friends coming over later so I want to make sure the place is atleast decent.

Not much going on right now. The 16 year old has been home from school all week on winter break and my 18 year old FINALLY got a work-study job. We've been pushing her to get one on campus because the other one she had which was good but it took time to get off campus. Guess what the only thing that was available to her? Yeah - the same job she had before. She lost 4 weeks of working and ended up with the same exact job she had before. ARG!!!!! Oh well. Atleast she has enough time to get some decent hours this time. Now just to make sure she files for all of her hours. She missed a LOT of pay last semester because she didn't file for her hours! Can you believe it? I was ALWAYS making sure I got every penny due to me and she just never could file her hours. I don't understand her sometimes.

    Good morning people!

Annsi, that's odd that your daughter wouldn't make sure her work was accounted for in order to get paid. Even if she didn't file for the hours, isn't it illegal of them not to pay her for her work?

FoG, that seems a popular ailment this year! You're Baptist...you're supposed to be beyond having to be like the rest of the world and into these fads. Stop that! :tongue3: Did you manage to get a HOT steam vaporizer? I loved mine, then they went and quit selling them because they are "dangerous." Now it's cold air vapor, which I find pointless.

There's not much going on today. I'm going to rest, as I look and feel hideous. My face is all red and rashy with puffy spots, almost looks like someone spilled angry paint on me. Illness sure makes a person humble! I tried putting make-up on to cover it up and my own face laughed at me and said "yeah right!"

    Wow, everyone is so quiet!

Good morning folks. This sounds really good to me right now, so I brought enough for everyone, although I have a feeling it might not be too popular.

We're having lox and bagels with cream cheese and capers.

    hehe

You know, this board was more active when it first started, it seems! At least in comparison with the number of members vs the number of posts. Maybe we need to get some romance back in our BB relationship. Let's all take a moment to sit back and remember when we first joined and how we felt about the board. Maybe make a date with the board and have a nice dinner together and rekindle that flame. :love2:

Wow, Gina, you're up early this morning! Or was it a late night?

No church for me today. My little one is sick with the flu, and I'm not sure about the older one. I guess I'll spend the day doing laundry, since flu seems to bring on an abundance of it.

Yawn. I'm NOT an early bird, but the dog woke me up barking at some cats whose owners let them run the neighborhood at all hours. Anybody got a sure fire way of getting rid of cats?

ABC - I'm home too with a sick child and will be doing laundry today. Fortunately we're not dealing with the flu but a bad cold it seems. I might take him to the doctor tomorrow to check his cough since it sounds kind of icky. I feel badly because this actually started when I took the poor boy to the barn on Wednesday - and he's allergic to the horses so he started sniffling and sneezing and coughing back then. I wonder if that brought in some mucous in his lungs that might now have gotten infected. :(

Gina, while I'm from NY, I'm not into lox but bagels? LOVE them!! I stop at the bagel store atleast once a week for my fix. You can't beat NY bagels anywhere in this country. :)

    Howdy Everyone!

I'm not going to say Good Morning because it would be a lie. The menagerie is all sick again, even one of the dogs. Add to that Dad's 3 monsters (little, loud poodletype dogs) and I am not in a good mood.

I'll be back when we are all well.

Cuz, you stay yourself in the house until you are well! Don't be stubborn like my husband and keep going in to work so you never get over the first infection before you catch the second one! :BangHead: :BangHead:

Good morning everyone!! It's a beautiful chilly day outside and we're all on the mend here. Actually, it's just been my son who's been sick but then yesterday afternoon, my voice decided it was just really too hard to stick around so it left. Just like that. But it came home last night, so I'm good for today.

We had taken off from school all last week due to the vacation week and then yesterday we didn't do school since I took DS to the doctor (just a cold) and then my voice was gone so I couldn't very well do any teaching! But today we're back into the full swing of things. I also need to do some chores around the house and get dinner in the crockpot (a new recipe - Chicken Minestrone with Pesto). I don't have to go out until tonight to go see my dad who had a knee replacement a week ago and he's in the rehab now. I love staying home - it's just more relaxing to me. :)

So I brought in some blueberry buttermilk muffins and homemade jam. Coffee is on and ready to go. Enjoy!

BANG! There Gina, I shot it for you.:tongue3:

Yesterday we cleaned house and donated a bunch of stuff to Goodwill. My kids call it "BADwill" because that's where I take all their old toys. I had enough to have a small yard sale, but I didn't want to store all that stuff until summer, so we donated it.

My parents are planning to come visit this weekend and I want the house to look decent. So, today we are catching up on homeschool work. Have a good day!

Hey, ladies, look what you did.... you shot a moose!

We have a little cold spell here in Queen City for this week. At least it is cold at night, when you are under your cozy and warm cover.... but eases up during the day and you can take off your jackets and pullovers.

Our older daughter, Elizabeth, was visiting us from Manhattan and stayed for four days. Lenke was elated. We had the family together and the grandkids chimed together at the dinner table, "Grandma, you are the best cook in the whole wide world!" Needless to say Lenke's heart was swelling up a ted.

Have a nice day all! :wavey:

For some reason, I'm FREEZING today!! It's 35 degrees outside and 65 inside. BRRRRRRRR!!!! I just can't get warm!

Well, I have a child home from school again - Nicole. She's got a stomach thing going again which is what she typically gets. I have no idea what's going on with her but it's getting annoying. I think it may be time to investigate this a bit.

Otherwise, we're schooling and I have mom's group at 1PM today. I'll leave the littles home with Nicole as long as she's awake, which I think she will be. Tonight is church and it looks like I'll be going alone for that because the kids are being very slow in their school work and I don't let them do the kid's program if they don't do their schoolwork. I know, I know - I'm mean. LOL
