We have a young lady visiting people in Tamworth. She is from Llanelli and was surprised that a Canadian could even pronounce the town. She was even more surprisd when I greeted her in Welsh. I do have fun at times.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Some locals say SLanesli or Lanelthy instead of the correct pronounciation..... a favourite trick around here is to call LLanelli "Sospan" after Sosban fach ! I learned Welsh at school many many years ago, and find it very difficult to get any practice because few people in this area speak Welsh. This is a great pity, however I think schools here are now teaching basic Welsh to infants, I hope so, as it would be very sad if the beautiful language were to die off.

Gwyneth, At one time the west coast was all Welsh. Folk in Llanelli would pour scorn on Cardiff, the English capital of Wales.

This girl plays rugby on the Welsh national team. The girl she is visiting plays on the Canadian team. That's how they met. Her parents own the local cafe here in Tamworth and live across the road from me.

    Cheers,

    Jim

We're at about 12" of snow and still counting! Schools were cancelled last night before the snow even really got started. So we're all home for a snow day - well, except Nicole who has to work at the grocery store at 3:30. I'm going to make a nice stir-fry for dinner and just relax today! Oh man, do I ever need it!!!!!!

I think some muffins are in order for this morning - what do you think? I'll leave them on the counter when I'm done. :)

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

WOW! I can't believe it's been a week since I've been in here. I finally kicked the bronchitis but the problem is that it just left me so weak afterward. At least I'm on the mend.

Ann: A foot of snow?? You guys aren't used to that much 'white beauty" at one time are you? Please be careful if you have to go out. I've been reading blackbird's posts and see he got dumped on too. I wonder if my Cuz caught some of it too?

It's cold here right now [about 30 degrees] but we're supposed to warm up to the 40s by the end of the week.

We visited a church yesterday that we really liked. The Word was preached, the people were friendly and the church is family oriented with activities for all ages. We plan on visiting again next sunday.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Hey Cuz! I'm glad you are better. My kids woke me up yesterday at 6:30 to tell me there was snow!!! I rolled over and went back to sleep. :D

When I woke up there was about an inch almost covering the ground. Just enough for the kids to make a few snowballs and snow angels and a tiny snowman. By noon it was a memory!

Only in Alabama can you have snow in the morning and run around in your shirt sleeves by afternoon. I think our high was up to 47 or so.

I think we all are finally ALL on the mend here. Now to catch up on all the stuff that got left undone over the last 6 weeks.

Ya'll have a good day and I'll stop back in when I can.

The weather report said that we would have a nice Mon-Wed, and I planned on trimming trees and grape vines. BUT.... it snowed instead---probably not a good idea to climb in a snowy tree. :)

Church on Sunday was nice. A family from this area who moved to another EU country looking for work, came back. The testimonies were beautiful!

I got to go to another church last night and everyone was rejoicing over the recovery of a little girl from the church----had lung tumors, went in for surgery, and recovered so quickly that the Drs all said, "God did this".

Today I'm a little slow in getting going, and I'm not even bothered by it. HA! I should be giving piano lessons and making bread.

Ann, did you try the no-knead bread? I love it! I hope to make pita pockets this week.

Fruit salad in the fridge, everyone!

Good morning folks! Ouch!!! It was 16°F last night and only 22° right now, perhaps going up to a balmy 36° later on today. I understand this is very unusual for Quen City - not to mention the 5" snow we had from Sunday night to Monday morning. I wanted to go to the bank earlier and it was closed, schools were closed, traffic was minimal. People did not drive because of the snow. But it looked beautiful, like a winter wonder land as all the trees covered with snow. Our daughter called from Manhattan and said that they had in excess of 10" of snow, so we can't complain.... Things are looking up though because by Thursday and Friday it will be back to 60-70°F again. Looking for Spring to turn around the corner, so that I could go dig up the garden and plant something useful. Wonder how our resident northeners, Jim1999 and Gina are doing up in Canada & Alaska with all the snow? Have a nice day all. :type:

Dear Brother Barnabas, sorry that you are experiencing a drop of snow and coolish temperatures. Did you have the NY weather attached to your leg?

We haven't had snow for a few days now, but we have had a fiercely cold north wind for three days running,,,,,,,,and it is coooold.
As for snow, I haven't seen my cow since late November. I might have to change her location or put a tent over her for winter.

It is March and soon it will warm up so the Maple trees can yield their sweet juice. That is always a good sign when they start boiling maple syrup, except the price, and sort of makes one boil. And we think petrol was expensive!

I get a chuckle when I read people talk about their snow and snow days. Our school buses only quit when the roads are too icy.

    Keep warm.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Spinach - I haven't tried the bread yet because it's just been so busy around here! I have to say we don't do super busy well here because DH and I have not been connecting at all. We just had another fight but I think it's beginning to settle down. Please pray for us guys. We love each other a lot but sometimes we just don't communicate it well and .... well .... we just get "stuck". LOL I think we need some time to just talk without having to run here, run there, pick up someone, deal with a fight with the littles, clean up because we're running out yet again. SIGH Such is life, huh?

Well, today will be homeschooling and laundry. We have our ladies retreat this weekend so I need to be sure the family is ready for me to not be around (apparently the family collapses when I'm not doing what I do - I saw that this past weekened). I need to do my laundry so that is done - and I also need to figure out what food I'm leaving for them - and what we're doing for dinner tonight! I usually plan out the week's menu and go shopping on Sunday but since we were getting this storm we got, Sunday was crazy in the store and every meat I needed was not there. I decided to just get what I needed and plan food out of the freezer for a few days. So now I need to see what's out there and go "shopping". LOL

Well, I'm off to the races. DS (8) just woke up at 9:30 when he's usually up at 7 or so, so I'm wondering if he's getting sick. I let him sleep in just in case but we'll see. I hope he's not because we just changed insurance as of Sunday and we don't have any insurance cards or anything yet! YIKES!

It's warmed up to 13 degress F this morning. Brr. My arthritis is acting up so bad, I couldn't even get out of the house yesterday to get the mail. I hope and pray it's better today. It gets frustrating not being able to do all the things I need to get done.

Annsni--we'll be doing homeschool and laundry today, too. I'll pray for you and your hubby today.

We had a good visit with my parents and in-laws, and our new bathroom floor looks great.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Chris and I are "making hay while the sun shines" in regard to homeschooling. He really isn't behind but we left a few things we'd normally do off while we were all sick. Thing about homeschooling is that if the teacher is sick and then the student is sick it doubles the amount of stuff that has to be made up!

So today will be school, sewing at church and in between, bowling! Chris wan't to go bowling for PE today. Okee Dokey then! That's what we will do.

    Ya'll have a nice day!

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

Sure seems funny to see my brothers and sisters from the south complaining about snow. Usually that's reserved for us northerners. We're in the 30s today but will be in the 40s by tomorrow and it's supposed to hit 50 on thursday.

Today we have doctor's appointments and grocery shopping to keep us out of trouble. Time for us to provide economic stimulus to Walmart and to the doc.

Praying for you and your hubby Ann. :praying:

Got a phone call from the Pastor of the church we visited on sunday. Said that they always send a letter to visitors but he's always felt that a personal phone call too is better than an impersonal letter. He thanked us for visiting and said he hopes we'll visit again. I told him we were planning to visit again this sunday.

Got to get ready to take Brenda to the doc's for a B-12 shot. She gets a B-12 shot every month. Her body just doesn't seem to retain B-12 in her system so she get's the supplimental shots every 30 days.

Think we'll have breakfast for dinner tonight. It's fast, easy, and the Gkids love it. Pancakes, Eggs, Sausage, Bacon, Home Fries and Sausage Gravy and Biscuits. Sure is good to feel well enough to cook again.

Ann, I know what you mean. The ministry and family life can be so taxing!

It's chilly here and I REALLY want it to be warm (or at least not windy) so I can get out and trim the trees and grape vines. I keep waiting for a break in the weather, but that only happens if I already made other plans. Sigh.

I'm not cooking much these days (focusing more on fruits, veggies, and salads), but the fruit bowl is on the counter and a large grilled chicken salad in the fridge. Here's to your health!

I forgot to add that the dollar is up and gas is down here. It's a good day for the missionary :) (diesel is down to just under $5/gallon. YAY!)

Oh man! Things have gone from bad to worse here. Just a lot of pressure - lots of things screaming for our attention and not enough time or energy to deal with them all. My 18 year old got in not one but two accidents within 24 hours. These are her first. She's fine and it's just the bumper on the car but bumpers nowadays cost a good $800 to fix, I'm sure. We'll see what happens there.

Then I tried to win a car for my senior pastor on E-bay and realized in the last 20 seconds that you need to have a Paypal account attached to your account in order to bid on the auction. I was logged in as him and he has no Paypal account so we lost the car - and were more than willing to pay the price that it went for - it was quite a deal! ARG!! Now I feel so guilty although there's not much I could have done unless I bid earlier in the day to confirm that I could bid but I've bought hundreds of things on e-bay (and even just won something yesterday) and never had an issue. So now I feel that I let someone down and I hate that.

    Oh well, life goes on.

Today I need to get ready for the ladies' retreat that we're leaving for tomorrow. I'm going to make dinner early so we can just toss it in the oven when we need it (I'll be out at the barn) and there should be leftovers for the family over the weekend. I also need to finish laundry, clean up so the house atleast STARTS out clean and then we need to figure out what car I'm taking on the trip now that DD's car (the best car in the house) is broken.

I've left chocolate on the counter - I've been needing it for a couple of days now. LOL

That would be awesome but it's the weekend of our ladies' retreat at church. LOL

Oh guess what I just figured out?? I didn't give myself any time to do my WORK for Sunday. So I'm going to atleast make the dinner for tonight now then go to church after lunch to get the work done.

    Jeepers!! This is getting ridiculous!
