You should! Buy the best ice cream you can, with plenty of chocolate, as well. Couldn't hurt, right? :)

If your retreat has a hot tub, I need to hop on a plane ;)

What a beautiful spring day! I had been waiting for a chance to get outside and pretty up the place, but every time I tried, the weather was horrible. Today was perfect, so we skipped school and worked outdoors.

I pruned 8 grape vines (tall on an arbor), 2 sour cherry trees, 1 apple tree, 1 plum tree, and 1 hazelnut tree. My hands are killing me! I sawed quite a bit but used the pruning shears even more. The exercise was soo good for me, but I'm sure this right arm will be quite sore come morning.

I'm still waiting for the baby goat(s). I'm beginning to wonder if she's just kidding---arf arf

We ate hours ago, but I still have some chili on the woodstove and fresh bread in the pantry (fancy word for a tote in the hallway).

    Have a good day, everyone!

Hey all! Checking in from the retreat (DD brought her laptop for school work) and all is going splendidly. The theme of the retreat is "Pause for a Purpose" and it's so what I needed this past week. OK - Now to REALLY pause for a purpose and get a NAP!! Woo-hoo!!!

The only retreat I am doing to-day is staying indoors to avoid the icy rain for the day. The roads are pure ice, as is the ground around us. Need ski poles to get about.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Jim - Sorry you're getting all that ice! We're just getting snow and we lost the gorgeous warmth we had for 2 days. The retreat was lovely - and so perfect in God's timing. I had such a rough week before the retreat and I was able to really renew my vision and focus on the Lord and off of me. I thank God for the ladies who put the retreat together and for allowing me to be able to go.

Now we're back home and had a late start to the day. The kids are behind in their homeschooling so I need to push them! ARG!! I hate that - but I'm staying calm as I yet. ROTFL!!!

I'm heading out to the barn in a bit (no riding because of the rain) and then I'll go visit my dad after that. He's still in rehab from his knee replacement - I'll find out how much longer he'll be there on Wednesday when they have his case meeting at the rehab place. I love this place - they've been very helpful and keep me posted on everything. :)

It is chilly here today and our winter wood supply is dwindling. I'm only using the woodstoves at night to conserve. I wish it would warm up (or at least be sunny).

My goat was supposed to have kidded by now. I'm on pins and needles about it. I wish she'd hurry up already.

Dh's schedule has been so sporatic, leaving us both tired and a bit overwhelmed. I hope a routine can be found soon.

Better run. The kids are finishing up a writing assignment and I need to cut up the spinach for salad.

    Have a good day, everyone!

Chilly, you say! Yesterday the temperature dropped to -43 with the windchill factor, with winds all day at 80kms. Cheer up, spring is just around the corner.

We'll just take one day at a time.

    Cheers,

    Jim

We had a glimpse of spring over the weekend while I was away on the retreat but it's back to seasonal temps - around 40-45 F.

Not much going on here other than we're getting buried financially but we'll figure something out I guess. My car has to go back to the shop because it's making a moaning noise when I steer so we think it's something with the power steering. We've spent $1300 in the last month on two cars, now this is happening and my daughter's bumper needs to be replaces. Yeah - not good. SIGH

Other than that, it's the same old, same old. I need to do laundry today and get the kitchen cleaned up. I also need to figure out dinner because apparently I've used up all of the useable meat in the freezer. I found a roast from '07 but I don't think I'll use that. LOL Bleck!!

Uh-oh! JoJo needs me for English work. Gotta go!

No one posted here on Friday the 13th???

I'm still alive - and have been doing a lot of reading since I was laid off from my job last December 1.

Anxious to get back to work - around the end of this month - weather permitting - and the good Lord willing.

You all have a great day!

    Dan

We were too busy. Good to see you around Bro. Dan! How are things in your neck of the woods? Heard that you had been snowed in most of the time. As you may heard, Lenke and I moved to Charlotte, NC. to be closer to the grandkids. They live only 3.4 miles from us and we see them almost every day. We only had two snow days during the winter (2" and 5") but the schools and some businesses were closed - resulting our question to the local folks, "You call this snow?!"

I am glad you predicted spring to be just around the corner Bro. Jim! For Lenke and I placed Hungarian yellow pepper, parsley, and dill seeds into the seed starter. The rest of the garden vegetable plants we will acquire at the local garden center. We are waiting our seedlings to spring up and grow inside the house, to be ready for outdoor planting soon. :)

Does that also mean that Brother Dan is no longer a "regular" baptist? I wonder where he would rather post regularly?

    Cheers,

    Jim

It was 50 and sunny today, so I finished pruning the fruit trees. All but one tree is done. I would have done it, but it requires dh's strength to pull the wild grape vines off of it.

I'm still waiting for the goat to kid.

Tonight's supper, mushroom chicken and rice, large salad on the side. I wish I had made some bread.

    Good Morning Everyone!

Real life is keeping me busy, busy, but I thought I'd check in and let everyone know I still exist. :)

We are getting some springtime weather here so that means getting the yard and pool ready for summer. It is supposed to be around 75 degrees out there today!

    Ya'll have a good week!

The weather here today is so spring-like and pretty. I have to try to motivate these kids to do their schoolwork, because they want to be outside playing instead. Shoot, I'd rather be outside playing, too, but we are behind due to my last surgery and need to catch up.

In the last 2 days, I've cooked:

2 quarts homemade chicken soup (from a carcass)
    7 dozen meatballs
    24 meatloaf muffins
2 lasagnas after making homemade meat sauce for it
    triple batch Irish Beef Stew

I've made a lot of it for my dad who's getting home from rehab after having a knee replacement. I've packaged it all up and put it in the freezer. I've also kept some of it for us and tonight the kids have a choice of stew or lasagna.

Tomorrow I'll get my dad late morning and then see what's going on through the day as to whether or not I can ride. I hope I can because the horse is being AMAZING and I'd love to work with him as much as I can while he's this way. :) But I may have to skip it because of my dad. So we'll see!

    Chilly but sunny in Philadelphia!

I wanted to check in to say that I, too, still existed. Boy, was I surprised to see the new software! What do you all think of it? Pardon me if that's been discussed already.

Ugh - busy day today but it worked out OK. We all got a late start and only did reading before we had to leave to get my dad (who had a total knee replacement 5 weeks ago) to bring him for his surgical check-up (all went well) then we hit the post office, 2 banks and Wendy's for lunch. I left the house at 11 AM and got home at 4 PM. How am I supposed to educate my kids??? YIKES!! They did some math at the doctor's office but they can't do it in the car for fear of getting car sick. :( Tomorrow we do it again to see the cardiologist.

The only good thing is that DH is away from this morning until Wednesday dinner so atleast I have some freedom at night with meals. I don't have to worry so much about getting things nice for him right now. :)

So tonight we finished up school, had chicken pot pie for dinner after I picked up Nicole from work (at 7PM) and I'm sending the kids to bed early so I can have my treat.....a pint of chocolate chip ice cream from Baskin Robbins (I have a headache and it will help that .... YEA! That's it! It's treatment for the headache! ;) )

So now to rush the kids off to bed. LOL
