In this country, everyone is a "professional". LOL!

I suppose I should have some mercy on them, seeing that they don't have an indoor toilet, let alone a shower.

As dh said this morning, though, we will have built 5 houses by the time we get 1.

The potato soup is soooo good!!! I saute some onions and then add some potatoes, water, chicken broth, salt and pepper. After they are nearly soft, I add my thickener---flour and milk. Then I add some whole milk. If it's too thick, I add some more water. I enjoy it just like that, but if I want an extra yum, I add some broccoli and a bit of shredded cheese or sour cream. It's sooooo good with fresh bread and butter!

I don't measure, so anyone who may use the above will have to use their own discretion in measuring. I make enough for a family of 7 and usually use a liter of milk and a kilo of potatoes.

    Happy Monday, everyone!

Homeschool resumed today. We had a good time. Then I went shopping and visited my friends, back from furlough. They are so tired!

It's raining and quite windy, bringing in a winter storm. The weather prophets (I think it's funny to call them that!) are predicting snow by the weekend. I'm kind of glad. The last week or so it has been unseasonally warm and I'm afraid there hasn't been enough of a freeze to help my fruit trees. Perhaps we'll get a little more freeze.

I haven't cooked anything, but there's some tea on the woodstove if you want to warm yourself.

    Have a good day, everyone!

Good morning ya'll! Hope ya'll had a blessed day yesrteday in the house of the Lord. Lenke and I enjoyed a good full day at Midwood B.C. where we attend. The folks are warm and friendly, an important commodity nowadays. The pastor has been preaching the whole counsel of God. He will come to visit with us this Thursday, as we have been going back for all the meetings. We will have a chance to get to know him up close. :)

Spinach, you must be on the other side of the great pond if you already had homeschooling, went shopping and visited your friends. I just got up and hardly had enough time to stretch after my morning prayers. My wife, Lenke, is still sleeping and I do not want to wake her - she needs the rest. I make my own breakfast after my initial visit to the BB. Incidentally, as you mentioned the weather forecasters, I remembered my good friend, Paul Bubar from Word of Life asking this question: "What will become of little children, when they grow up, who cannot tell the truth?" When people at the Bible conference were pondering on the question, he laughingly said, "They become weather forecasters!"

I think weather forecasters are called second guessers. I still prefer the nose. It is 100 % accurate.

Brother Barnabas, you are getting into that Southern drawl. You think we don't see the "Y'all"? Glad you and Lenke are settling in well. I have no doubt y'all will be well received down there. Lovely folks and faithful to the Lord...a precious commodity, mate.

Still on the cool side here, but it is winter. My homeschooling hasn't started yet. The teacher didn't show up!:saint:

    Cheers to everyone, and bless,

    Jim

Hey, Brother Jim, you are in homeschooling??? What is your subject? I remember when Winston Churchil started to learn Russian at age 80 because he was tired of being mistranslated constantly. And according to reports, he mastered the language enough to keep up a conversation. Now that is admirable indeed. So, if you are really studying, wishing you God's speed! On the other hand, if you were just pulling our legs, then it is good your teacher didn't show up yet for she probably would have spanked you....

Brother Barnabas, I take an extension course every year just to give me something to do. Usually I take a biblical course from one of the many schools offering them. This year I am taking a course on Human Development from a secular point of view. It starts at infancy and goes right through to the end of life. Helps to keep my feet on the ground.

Yes. Mr. Churchill was forever a student.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Zero degrees this morning, and not a cloud in the beautiful big sky. How I love winter in Montana. The mountains are really showing off, this morning, and give me a cuppa something hot.

Bro. Curtis, I remember the mountains when I lived out West. It was always a glorious site, summer and winter, majestic and overwhelming at times.

A mountain here is just a huge hill. We do get many mountainous benefits, however, living in the countryside and being on top of one of those hills we call mountains.

    Cheers,

    Jim

We have a 7900 foot peak, a fairly easy climb, just about a half hour out of town that I like to climb. I've been on top when it's about 5 below, and have been able to see for hundreds of miles in every direction.

I went up one time and got to the top at midnite, with a good friend, on a clear night with a full moon. Everything that had snow on it was glowing in the light. It is still one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. We could look out into the Mission Mountains, and every peak punctuated the darkness. We then put our skis on, and went downhill to an old A-frame cabin to get some sleep & skied down the rest in the morning. Life is good, here in the Rockies.

It was unseasonably warm today, warm enough to go through the wood from our old roof, looking for good wood to use in the Spring for several of the projects existing in my head.

    I'm worn out.

Too tired, to cook, so I'm eating sugar and cinnamon toast.

    Well good morn..uh, afternoon!

I'm so jealous Curtis. It's always been a dream of mine to live in Montana. On the other hand, now that I think about it, have you seen ALASKA?! Maybe I'm not so jealous after all...yesterday I opened the door to walk outside and saw a moose go bounding away. How cool is that?

Barnabas, I just never thought I'd hear that accent on you. It just doesn't fit! Nice try though. You'll have to remain the friendly yet obvious transplant! Are you a "tar heel" now? And what IS a tar heel? At least in Ohio they make it easy. You're a Buckeye, and if you're smart you'll define buckeye as that chocolate and peanut butter candy rather than the nut!

What accent?! You know, there is a saying, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do..." :)

By the way, as you may know, there are several versions about the meaning of Tar Heels. I was curious myself about the meaning of this terminology and found out that some "experts believe its roots come from the fact that tar, pitch and turpentine created from the vast pine forests were one of North Carolina's most important exports early in the state's history." Others believe it to be a "nickname given during the U.S. Civil War, due to the state's importance on the Confederate side, and the fact that the troops "stuck to their ranks like they had tar on their heels". Whatever it is, the etymology is used to describe a North Carolinian. (See Tar Heel at Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) :type:

Good morning folks! Sorry Lady Sue for the double post. But the previous one is from yesterday. So, you may overlook it...yes? :)

Funny thing happened to us.... this morning we woke up bright and early at 9:25 AM! Never happened before. We usualy sleep, the latest, until 7:00 AM. I myself get up at around 6:00 - 7:00 AM and have my breakfast before Lenke wakes up. Again sorry Lady Sue, but this "virtual" breakfast in the CGCH does not suit me that well.... I need some tangeable substance in my stomach.

By the way, this moring it is a balmy 51 degrees and going up to 61. Hope our friends up north and the cool midwest are doing ok. Have a nice day all! :type:

Good morning, Brother Barnabas. I join you regarding the meals offered in here. I much prefer real food.

Glad you are enjoying nice balmy weather. It is below freezing here to-day and snowing quite heavily. I could hardly see the roadway on the way home. We are expecting 30cms of snow before the day's end.

    Cheers, mate,

    Jim

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

Yesterday was a long day. A friend of ours, who is almost like a daughter, is in the hospital with pneumonia. She was just released from the hospital last week after having an illiostomy, and is not back in with pneumonia and an infection.

We're going back to the hospital in a little while. She doesn't need all this after just having major surgery.

Will try to check in tomorrow.

Barnabas, you had a big move, you needed the rest!

Curtis, I've only got a few pics right now, but when I get some of spring and summer I'll put them all together and link people. It'll be a while!

Jim, Barnabas, do I have to put both of you in time out? If you don't like what the coffee house mamma typed out for breakfast then you'll just have to type it yourself or go without. HMPH!

Today is -30. We're getting more daylight now and can blink without missing the sun. LOL

We got report cards home. The one child is number 1, 2, or three in her class subjects. Another got all A's except for one A-minus. I'm happy that their sister didn't get any D's or F's, glad she has other talents that take the place of traditional schoolwork!

The trouble with the written food is that it gets stuck between the ears. The last thing we want is a fat head.

Bro. Jim, you are so funny! Just came back from church and read your comment. I was laughing out loud and Lenke asked me what was so funny.

Gina, so sorry about the "imaginary" food and beverages here in the CGCH, but as you know, as we get older, we have less and less imagination.... Plus, when you are diabetic, as I am, you need some "tangible" nurishment. But I am willing to go along "imaginary" food and beverages.... which reminds me of a humorous litle story I just read this morning about this topic (see below).

Quoting from the Midwood (Baptist Church) Memo: One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me. I was maybe 2-1/2 years old and had just recovered from an accident. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a get well gift and it was one of my favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought him a little cup of 'tea.' which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such a yummy tea, my Mom came home. My dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I come down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy and she watched him drink it up. Then she says (as only a mother would know...), "Did it ever occured to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet bowl?" There goes imagination.
