Thanks for your prayers everybody, the CT scan showed no stroke, however; it did show some fluid on the brain which the Radiologist that read the scan said wasn't serious. I see a Neurologist the first part of January and we'll see what he says.

Thank you for the update Rob. How are you feeling?
So yesterday I went to the barn after not being there for 3 weeks because of being sick. I told the horses' owner (who is also sick) to just leave the horses to me and I'd do the stalls and stuff. She was so grateful because she's not felt well plus she's overwhelmed so not having to go to the barn is a blessing. So I did all my work, rode, fed the boys and put them to bed. Came home and since I was so bundled up and I didn't get dirty or stinky, I just got into my pjs. Ahhh - I was all set for a quiet night. I had dinner in the crockpot, just needed to make noodles and salad and we were set. Hubby calls at 6:15 to say he's on his way home and am I ready to go to the yacht club. HUH?? No - we're going there next week to use up our minimum, not this week. "No, don't you remember it's the volunteer party??" (a party that the Commodore gives to thank everyone who volunteers for things to run the club since it's a club that's maintained by mostly the members). NOOOO!!!!!! That meant that I had an hour to shower, get dressed up, do my makeup AND get the kids fed!! YIKES!! But I pulled it off and we had a wonderful time getting to know some people more but MAN, I hate when that happens!
Pretty good. My left hand is still shaking, my grip and strength on my left side aren't what they should be (I think), and I get tired easily, but; I can still complain about it so I guess I'm ahead of the game.
I'll find out more the first part of January, could be it's just something neurological that can be treated by medication too.

Please spare a thought and a prayer for friends and relations in soggy soggy Queensland. It is over 30 years since the floods of 1974 but these are really really bad. Most of the state is cut off, the state is huge and the roads are a vulnerable point where they cross normally dry creek beds.
I have family in Brisbane, Bundaberg, the Glasshouse Mountains, Roockhampton, Tully, Mt Isa,Goondiwindi, St George.
The torrential monsoon activity in the north has a flow on effect where a great deal of water cascades inland ultimately to Lake Eyre.
Of course with ALL that water and the high humidity there are extra challenges of snakes and crocs for the rural communities nevermind those fun things like dengue fever, typhoid etc.

A woman I know on another board is right in the midst of all of that on her farm with all her horses and such. Fortunately, they are safe but they have no way to leave their property at all and are now on their own rations. She showed us videos of the wall of water washing away cars - it's absolutely frightening!!!! My prayers are SO with them.
....and poor old Toowoomba that is right on top of a mountain....the last place you would expect to flood....

We woke up to well over a foot of snow this morning on Long Island!! We'll get the real measurement later when hubby goes outside but it's beautiful!! Schools are closed today and I'll find out if our programs tonight at church are cancelled by 1 pm so I can put it on the church website. Even my girls are home from work! Hubby is loading up with coffee and a muffin before he goes out with the snow blower in a little while once the snow stops and then we'll hunker down later with maybe games or a movie.

Ann, our schools have been out all week due to the snow and ice we got Sunday and Monday. T only tried getting over to B'ham to work this morning. He's worked from home the last two days. At least this storm didn't cost many their electricity!
My kids are enjoying an extended Christmas vacation because of this. We didn't start homeschool back last week because we had something to do outside the house every day (though technically Friday being "class day" counted for school). I can't seem do get school done whne I have ps kids coming over durning school time, ya know? Maybe tomorrow! (I almost didn't believe it when ps shut down for the third day in a row! that almost never happens here!)

We got about 15" of snow yesterday and we're already dug out and back to life as normal other than me being sick so I'm sticking close to home. 
New Yorkers know how to deal with snow and since that's all it was, we're fine but other areas aren't used to the weather and they don't have the equipment to handle it. Additionally, large parts of the south got ice and that is a WAY different animal than snow. One inch of ice can shut down a city whereas with the 12+" of snow we got, New York City schools didn't even close!!

I am pleased not to be in Queensland....sloshing through all the water. Toowoomba had what they are calling an inland tsunami....Toowoomba is on top of a mountain!!!!!!

I think most of us Americans can't comprehend the scope of the Australian floods. That was a LOT of water!
Life got back to normal for us on Thursday (city ps opened at 11 am) and for most of the surrounding area on Friday (county ps opened as usual). There is still quite a bit of snow around though. Icy, hard, frozen snow that crunches underfoot. It'll likely take the rain we expect on Monday to melt the rest of this stuff away.
Funnily enough, the grass really greened up underneath parts of the snow. LOL, confused grass!

Well yesterday was a surprise.....hawk was sittin right next to the chicken house fence ... looking very cold & hungry & not understanding why he couldn't get in. My chickens were inside terrorized & huddled together & there stood in the open my little ole Buff Cochen Rooster "Red" daring the hawk to get in so he could hook him with his elbow talons. I was only 20 pases from that hawk & I gathered he was both confused & a little upset cause he wasn't thrown by me running out there & yelling.
Really a beautiful bird ....but not so much when he was ready to kill & eat my prized rooster. I think Red would have put up quite a fight.

With the floods and the flow on effects (sorry about the pun!) will impact on agriculture, groceries and the mineral sector.
There is an expectation of increasing food riots throughout the world this year.....see what happened in Tunisia which was thought a stable government.
It makes me very angry and sad to KNOW the world produces food enough for everyone but because of lack of forsight many die of starvation, and the young and passionate join societies to change the world and thus go down the path of anarchy and terrorism. :tear:

What a great tale....I have only ever heard of my uncle and the carpet snake and the takeaway chicken....the snake had eaten 3 hens and found he could not get through the fence because of his big rounded tum.
