    Nite, nite Sue! Sleep well!

However will I ever be at 'work' at 8:00 a.m. in the next large town for a whole month? I never get up til then! Oh well... Lord has a plan, for sure!

    Good evening all,

I have to report for jury duty tomorrow - last time - I didn't get picked. I guess I'll find out tomorrow!

Sue - did you wear your goggles?

    Dan - the safety man

Dan, we get an exemption here because we are ministers. I am not sure about this exemption though. Is it a question about our honesty, or do they feel we would be more compassionate than judicial?

All the best to you mate.

    Cheers,

    Jim

We are getting some thunder and lightning, so I am calling it quits for awhile.

Good night, Dan, wherever you are....

    Cheers,

Night Jim! Stay safe from power surges!

Dan! Hopefully, if you are chosen, the case will be quite interesting!

Hey... anybody hear from Blackbird? Did he fly the coop? Maybe he fell into the pronoun well and can't climb out! Hold On David! We're sending down a rope!

I've been having a little "down day". Find that every 3-4 days I am not my fiesty ornery self. Long day, lots of running and continual pain.

Some days are more of a challenge! So no more insults about old people (I-R-1) or whining about why my granddaughter has decided to START her life by being "fashionably late".

Ugh. Think a good night's sleep might be good for me. Or maybe work on a poll on the Hundred Years War.

Yeah. That would occupy my mind for a while!! [IMG]

Well, I finished the quiz, surfed the pertinent fora here on the BB and FFF, typed some emails for the clinic, and now I have some reading to do.

Ever since starting in the ministry, I have enjoyed the quiet late evening/early morning hours for uninterrupted work.

In our early days of marriage, I would work until my wife got up to feed the baby at 2 a.m. She would rock the baby and we would chat, then go to bed at 3 a.m. together.

Hard habit to break. But guess I'll turn in for some bedtime reading (still working through the Dead Sea Scrolls - in English, thankfully!)

Good Morning! I trust everyone rested well last night!

59ºF here. High today 75ºF. I hope the wind has died down some. It was terrible yesterday.

Coffee is on, tea is ready...I will be back later.

Up at 4:15 AM - went to prayer meeting with four other pastors. It has been a privilege to pray with them on Tuesday morning for the past 15 months as I've worked in Troupsburg.

Have to be in Bath by 9AM - to see if I get selected for the jury.

Jim - often pastors here get dismissed - especially on drunk driving cases. Last time at county court - I didn't get selected - the case was a concrete supplier vs a disgruntled home owner - over the quality of concrete - another DOT employee got seated on the jury - he had to state that his knowledge of DOT concrete specifications would not influence his judgment in the case. Once before in village court - the defense did not want this sober preacher on the jury for his drunk-driving client.

Seems like Sheila should be up and about by now - where are you Sheila?

Dr. Bob should just be nicely asleep - Sue should be making coffee, etc., and Diane - tell me more about the widowed mother with six - is she a Christian?

Dan - the potential jury man!!

Talkin' about juries and selections!!! A few years ago I got summoned to be in "the pool"---Miriam and I were talkin' and she said--"They won't take anybody who looks smart!" [IMG] Sure enough--I was in the pool there waitin'---the "accused" was accused of stealin' a Four wheeler!!!!! Now, folks! I got to thinkin'----ain't a crime in the world worth committin' that worth goin' to the "Big House" over----especially stealin' a four wheeler!! I told the fella next to me----"Buddy---if I'm gonna steal somethin'---I'm gonna make it worth my while to go to jail over! I'll go the biggest bank in America---start at the top of the building and work my way down each floor with a burlap sack! Try to spend a little of it before the cops come pick me up!!"

Anyway, they didn't pick me! It made me mad--'cause I was gonna "pin" this guy!!

Next thing you know---Miriam gets a summons to jury--she goes--sits in the pool---and they pick her to sit in one of the lovely 12 chairs---I had to hold my tongue--thinkin' about what she said!!! [IMG] [IMG]

Your Southern Baptist preachin', jury rejectin' buddy,

    Good Morning Dan and blackbird!

Dan; are you between bridge jobs? Do you get paid to serve on a jury? Also, did I miss something? What is this?

blackbird: Where have you been? We don't see you often around here anymore.

I haven't been asked to sit on a jury for a long time. The last time, I told them I would be prejudiced whether the person was guilty or not. They have not asked me to serve again. [IMG]

    Sue:

The State pays me my regular salary to go to jury - so the county won't have to pay me - but if I was unemployed - the county would pay $40.00/day for jury duty.

This is from the prayer request forum and was posted by Diane:
Maybe our friend Blackbird needs an engraved invitation to come to the coffee house - or maybe he doesn't like coffee - or maybe he's been too busy dreaming about a new shot gun or fishing boat to turn up - or maybe - we just ought to let him explain to "mama" just where he's been!!! [IMG] [IMG]

Sue---been busy for the last couple of days---got several church members in hospitals---this past Saturday was an "All Day" thing, too! We had a Youth function at the Wesson Flea Market---then after that was over--Miriam and I took our two kids down to the Washington Parish Fair in Franklinton, Louisiana--its sorta a tradition for me to go every year---my dad use to take us--and he went every year when he was a boy! Lots and lots of people!

Today--I have a 11am funeral---then this evening our church is hosting the Tuesday meeting of our Annual Associational meetings. Last nite--the session was at a church across the county from me---I was 10:30pm gettin' home. Last nite I brought a motion on the association "floor" to pass the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 articles as a statement of beliefs for our association---we passed the same motion as a church(my church) this past month!

But Blackbird is here---readin' and watchin'--lookin' for a place to "chime in!"

    Blackbird

WOW! blackbird! You have your plate full! We DO miss you stopping in........I was getting ready to send the 'county mounties' out to look for a preacher in a yellow and green robe driving a John Deere! [IMG] [IMG]

Dan: I must have missed that in the Prayer Forum, thanks for filling me in.

And I don't HAVE any safety goggles. They would have to be prescription because I couldn't wear them over my glasses and I won't wear my contacts when I'm working around blowing bits of stuff.

Yesterday at the 'corner', I thought I was in for it again...the wind was so strong that it almost blew my metal stop sign out of my hand. So you can imagine how the bits of leaves were swirling around....I guess I just kept ducking at the right time.

I am trying to blow the leaves into piles each day so they won't pile up like they did the first time. When hubby gets home, he bags them and hauls them to the landfill. It takes 2-3 hours a day, but what else can we do? Hopefully, next year, we will be able to afford to have at least three of the eight trees we have left removed (especially the two Sweet Gum trees)!

    Good morning to all.

We had a rough night. It stormed through the night with lightning, rain and winds. I had so much to do and I was up most the night trying to work between power outages..so.long story, short.I overslept this morning and I am behind now.

Be back later, must write the devotional yet.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Good Morning Jim!

We didn't have any storms, but we sure had high winds yesterday and last night.

    Did you have any damage?

    Hi Sue,

No damage. It just upset my schedule. I have so much to do all at once and I wanted to get it done last night.

Just a show of flashing lights.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Good Morning All, We are having a record setting heat wave here. I wouldn't be surprised if we have storms soon.

Just dropping by on my way to a Sunday School Class Bible Study. We are studying women of the Bible.

I praise the Lord for this beautiful day and all His many Blessings and pray for the many who are suffering today.
